Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

What a treat it was discovering this author. I love this genre of books, it has to be my favourite and I think Stephanie Harte has slotted into the genre brilliantly.

Tangled Lives is the second book in the Risking It All series. After loving the first one so much I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one.

I have to admit that this one is totally different in comparison to Risking It All. It focuses on the relationships between Nathan, Gemma and good old Alfie! I love him I do.

This story is more tuned into the characters feelings when we follow a story that is full of lies and deceit. When some shocking twists spring to life. I was totally gripped wanting to know what was going to happen next. Once again the author leaves me hanging for the next book!

For me I would of preferred more action and grit like in the first book. I have my fingers crossed that this is the build up to the finale. Which I cannot wait for.

This book/series is perfect for fans of Martina Cole, Kimberly Chambers and Dreda Say Mitchell.

Book 2 in the Risking it all series . We are back again with Nathan and Gemma who are still living in fear of Alfie catching up with them. Nathan persuades Gemma to return to London for a personal matter and she agrees to go with them. Eventually Alfie catches up with them and both Gemma and Nathan are under his thumb again, Gemma is hiding something big and she knows Alfie has a hold over her in regards to this big secret.

Boy oh boy this was another fabulous and fast paced read by this brilliant author. Gangland thriller is one of my favourite genres and this book was no exception. I had read and loved book 1 so straight away I was back into the lives of Gemma and Nathan and the criminal Alfie. Every chapter of this book was told from the view point of one of the main characters. I just loved the say this book was written. It was easy to follow and even if you haven’t read book one you could read this as a stand-alone. Personally though I would recommend reading book 1 Risking it all as it is also an excellent read.
Now I will just have to wait patiently for Book 3 in this brilliant series.

This is the second book in the Risking it All series, again featuring Gemma and Nathan and now their little boy. They have escaped from Alfie but he soon catches up with them, throwing a spanner in their lives. This was a great read, and I hope there is some more of them in future! Recommended.

Gemma and Nathan are living in Spain with baby Luca after stealing his money and fleeing from Alfie Watson and his gang. Life is going good until Nathan finds his biological father who is living in London and he wants to go back to meet him. He knows the dangers but is prepared to take the risk to at last meet the father he was led to believe abandoned him when he was a child by his mother Rosa.
Gemma has a secret that Alfie is also in on which gives him one over her. She needs to come clean.......

The book speeds along at a fast pace which leaves the reader catching their breath. An excellent story which I really enjoyed.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this excellent book x

After reading book one I was really hoping to read more from this author.

Gemma and Nathan are now living in Spain with their son Luca after escaping from Alfie. Nathan wants to go back to London to meet his long lost father. Although Gemma isn’t too happy she agrees. Once they arrive back we are thrown into the gangland world.

A well written story with plenty of twists and turns. Can’t wait to read the next book.

This is the second book in a series. It can be read as a stand-alone but would be better read as part of the series.

This is a gritty fast paced gangland crime novel.
This book is filled with well developed solid characters.
This has a great storyline which gripped me from beginning to end.
Can’t wait for the next book in this series.

The second book in the Risking it All series concentrates on a gangland family vendetta, Gemma and Nathan have escaped, but he continues to put them in danger. Told from a multiperson viewpoint the reader understands all the main characters actions, emotions and motivations.

Gemma's secret threatens her family and gives Alfie leverage. Nathan remains weak and self-centred and the least likeable of the three main characters. The action is swift and not graphic, and the characters are flawed and relatable.

The plot is well written and the characters vibrant making this an addictive ganglit read.

I received a copy of this book from Aria Fiction via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

A jaw-dropping, hard-hitting and heart-pounding gangland thriller, Stephanie Harte continues her addictive Risking It All series with the second engrossing instalment: Tangled Lives.

Regardless of how far you run, the mob will always find you. When they had escaped evil Alfie’s malevolent clutches, Nathan and Gemma had thought that they were finally free and that their relationship could thrive away from the malign influence of the mob. But temptation is never too far away and slipping into old habits and giving into one’s fatal urges is sometimes inevitable as Gemma and Nathan soon discover. When Nathan finds himself doing the unthinkable, evil Alfie seizes his chance to get back what is rightfully his and to ensure that the people who wronged him pay for what they did – and he will not rest until he has avenged himself completely and utterly. Gemma and Nathan find themselves once more with their lives on the line, but will they manage to slip Alfie’s noose one more time? Or won’t they be so lucky this time around?

Alfie is a man who doesn’t forget anything. And he is fully aware of Gemma’s secret. A secret so dangerous and deadly that she daren’t reveal it to anyone. As a man who hates losing and who has Gemma in his sights, Alfie will pull out all the stops and call out every single favour owed to find her and Nathan. Nothing and nobody is going to stop him from carrying out his evil plan of revenge and the hold he has over Gemma ensures that no matter where she goes, she will continue to look over shoulder because Alfie can strike when anyone least expects it – and this time around, he will make sure that he will not miss. Nathan and Gemma will suffer for their betrayal and he is getting closer and closer…

While they’ve been on the run, Gemma hasn’t exactly been honest with her husband. She has been lying to him and keeping something life-changing from him. Something that if revealed could end up costing her everything which she holds dear to her heart: her marriage, her life and her son. Can Nathan and Gemma ever be free of the sins of the past? Or will their ever present fears destroy any hope they might have had of a future?

A high stakes gangland thriller where the twists and turns come thick and fast, Tangled Lives is a nail-biting read Kimberley Chambers fans will not want to miss. Stephanie Harte exposes with unflinching honesty the brutal reality of life on the mean streets and keeps her readers on edge with their hearts in their throats desperate to find out what fate is going to befall her characters.

Gritty, twisted and addictive, Stephanie Harte’s Tangled Lives is sure to keep readers turning the pages late into the night.

Was so pleased I got a chance to read a advance copy of this book. I really enjoyed it. And am looking forward to the next one in this series already.

I really enjoyed this second book in the series and the cliffhanger has left us with a great start for the third instalment. I have to agree with other reviewers and say that Nathan is becoming very annoying - he's such a wet lettuce! However, after the revelations of this book I think Gemma may switch sides! Looking forward to the next book.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4

Gemma and Nathan are living in Spain with baby Luca. They are on the run from Alfie Watson. Nathan has found his dad, Gareth, and wants to go back to London to meet him. Gemma is reluctant to return but eventually agrees. Gemma and Luca are taken by Alfie's dad. He tells Gemma he knows her secret and that she needs to come clean. Will Gemma come clean with her secret before someone else tells it?

I didn't know that this was the second book in the series when I requested it. I would have preferred to have read the first book as I like to read a series in the order that they are written in. Theres a good mix of characters in this twisted read. The bad guys are more likeable than some of the good guys. I wasn't keen on Nathan. The plotline is credible and gripping. The ending was a cliffhanger so you'll have to wait for the next book to find out what happens.

I would like to thank #NetGalley, #Aria #Aries and the author #StephanieHarte for my ARC in exchange for an honest review

After escaping Alfie’s clutches Gemma and Nathan are now living in Puerto Banus Spain with their son Luca. Alfie’s is now been arrested with several members of his gang. Life is sweet.
When Nathan decides he want to go back to see is long lost father. At first Gemma is adamant as it is still not safe after herself and Nathan stealing Alfie’s money. But she loves her husband and so she agrees. Not long after returning to Britain the pair are met by Alfie’s Dad. They are bundled into a car and brought to a house deep and secluded in Epping forest. They wonder what is going on until they realise that Alfie’s is not in prison and again, they are in the clutches if the Watson’s again.
This is another gripping tense thriller that I really enjoyed. I could not put this down. This has solid characters and good story line. I just thought Gemma was a bit gullible if she can get one over Alfie and win. This has a cliff hanger ending to keep you guessing until the next book. I can’t wait.
