The Draw Anything Book is vintage gold. It makes me feel like I really can draw anything! Charming and makes me want to break out my pencils and start illustrating my daily planner and journals.

Lovely book for step by step instructions to drawing. I personally have days where I feel like drawing but don't have a lot of inspiration that's where this book full of fun and creative things to draw comes in!

Wonderful blast from the past! This is a re-release of Lambry's book from the 1920s-1930s, and it is fantastic. This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn how to draw.

The lessons move through basic lessons with instructions that are easy to understand and follow and progresd to more complex lessons. When followed in order the lessons build upon the previous drawingtechniques. I loved the timeless quality of the book and instructions and was amazed thst even as a re-release it has valid and quality lessons that can help any young artist.

This is a rerelease of Lambry's book from the 1920s-1930s, and it is incredible! This is a wonderful book for anyone who wants to learn how to draw - it leads the artist through the most basic lessons with reasoning and instruction that is easy to understand and follow.

The lessons start out simple, and proceed with some complexity, but when followed in order they aren't overwhelming and build upon previous lessons. I really like the timeless quality of the book and instruction.

Simplistic, but effective. I found the concept of using simple shapes informative and easy to follow. A welcome addition for an emerging artist.

The intention of this book is solid, though not what I thought I was going to see when I was able to check this book out. What threw me off was the minimal text to explain each drawing and its instructions. One thing about this book that is wonderful is that the drawings build upon each other over the course of the book. While I personally have struggled with minimal explanation drawing tutorials though I know there is the perfect audience out there.

I'm interested in this book because I'm recently into drawing, and I want to learn more. If you want to see how a specific object is drawn step by step, you might want to read this book too.

This is an excellent drawing workbook for any beginning artist. Because it is a workbook and has a blank page next to each lesson I suggest you purchase the physical book rather than the electronic book.

The book is filled with helpful drawing exercises. Some of the exercises are simply drawing lines and circles. Therefore it may not hold the interest of a young artist. As the book progresses there are step-by-step instructions for drawing simple animals and items like flowers and vases.

I found this book helpful and a fast progression of lessons.

I received this book from NetGalley.

This was a simple and great drawing book. It's fun and concise, limited in text and more focused on actual examples and practice. The theory is on point and it does not only focus on lines and forms and perspective, but also on rhythm and symbolism in a composition. It's a great intro to drawing absolutely anything!

This simple book is very well written and thought out. It starts off with simple exercises and builds on the knowledge gained. By the end of the book one can theoretically draw anything. I particularly enjoy the fact that it is a sketch book as well! The artist has the opportunity to practice the steps IN the book. It's great!

The practice of drawing and growing in this way has been a benefit to me. I world recommend this book to any young artist who is just starting to see objects around them as possible fodder.

I quite enjoyed this book and wish I had it for longer, honestly. I didn’t complete (as in draw along with) the entire book, but did read through the whole thing and will consider buying this in the future.

I’m one of those people who loves the thought of being able to draw, but doesn’t have much innate talent. I wanted to try this book because it promised to be good for beginners, and at the beginning I kind of laughed because it went back to the most basic of basics, all the way back to simply drawing lines. But goodness at how advanced it gets by the end, and all the way so easily explained.

I’m not sure if this book is more technical or not, I don’t know any of the real terms. But for a beginner, it definitely helped me out in visualizing shapes within objects and learning angles and shadows, etc.

I think I would’ve enjoyed this book much more as a physical copy, but that’s probably more preference than anything. I’d also have liked some color to help bring the book to life.

Am I able to draw wonderfully now? Well, no. But I loved the build up of this book and really feel it could help a lot of people ease into a hobby of artistry.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to review this book, it was a pleasure!

I think this Draw Anything Book is more for adults or maybe a basic drawing class then it is for younger people.

I do like the layout of the book, giving enough space to practice your own “go” at a drawing.

I received this ebook copy in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley and the publisher.

This book is ideal for basic drawers who need to practice structures and shapes.

It did not capture my children's imaginations though (they are the budding artists in the house) and they did not spend much time with this book and chose to turn to online videos on drawing instead.

I think this book would best suit and art class as a reference for dipping into.

Drawing sequences can help you learn how to draw
French artist Robert Lambry created a series of lessons based on lines, angles, curves, key parts of an object, inverted shapes axes, symmetry, using grids, round masses, and horizontal and vertical lines in order to teach how to draw animals, plants, people, food, objects, buildings, vehicles, and much more. This lessons can be found in the book "The Draw Anything Book. Over 200 Simple Step-by-Step Drawing Sequences for All Kinds of Things" which was published by Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry. The drawing style is very basic and simple and as such great for beginners (originally the lessons were aimed at children). Only pencil and paper are needed for the start, afterwards colored pencil or watercolors can be used to color the drawings. I really appreciated how Lambry used the step-by-step approach, e.g. on page 32 he shows how to change a rectangle or a triangle to turn it into a dog, or on page 50 he shows how to change circles into a cat. Every lesson is accompanied by an exercise and provides also the space to do the exercise next to the lesson. So this book is indeed a workbook. I can recommend this book for beginners who do not want to be overwhelmed, but it is important to note that the designs are from the 1920s and 30s and that no modern designs are included.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is designed workbook style. one page has instructions, the next a blank page to practice in. It has a lot of simple designs and builds them out which is a practical doodling style. I think this is a good activity book as it covers a lot of different designs which can be customized.

I would probably call this book "The Foundations to Draw Anything Book". It is set up like a workbook, every other page is a new drawing exercise building from the last exercise and is paired with a page for practicing. So, you are meant to draw in the book as you progress. It is not just one of those books that show you a bunch of drawings and say, now do what I did! and you have no idea really what they did or how to practice. This book really breaks it down to the fundamental parts of drawing.

It is exactly what I've been looking for, trying to get practice seeing and translating what I see to acts of moving a pencil on paper. It starts with line drawing and basic shapes but moves on to proportions, masses, perspective and a tad of color theory.

I ordered this book in hardcover from Bookshop.org, but I also received a Netgalley advanced digital copy for review in return for honest feedback.

The Draw anything book is a lovely vintage how to draw guide for beginners. The ideas are simple to follow and the author instils the lessons such as vanishing point into his projects. Refreshingly uncomplicated and a great starting point for understanding the basic principles of drawing. Blank pages to have a go at each of the lessons are included, so all you need is a pencil. It is a clever book and easy to follow without feeling overwhelmed. Overall a great starting point and confidence builder for beginners.
