This book was a joy to read, full of excitement and adventure. We were rooting for Ash all the way through the twists and turns. A wonderful sequel to Frostheart and now we can’t wait for the next one.

Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of this sequel. I really wanted to enjoy it and think I expected too much from it.

I found I wasn't invested in the characters and also found the main character to continue to be particularly irritating.

I feel awful giving a 2 stars because I know so many people enjoyed the book but this just wasn't for me.

Ash and the crew from the Frostheart finally arrive at Aurora, and although it is an extraordinary place, it is no safer for Song Weavers than the Strongholds. Once again the connection between Ash, Luna and Tobu is magical, and with the addition of Rook they find themselves on a an incredible journey. Ash is trying to use the clues in order to solve the riddle of his lost parents.

This was once again a lovely warm hug of a story, it truly felt like a story you could red time and time again to both young and old.

I can not wait for the third and final book

I was lucky to receive a Netgalley Arc of Jamie Littler's Frostheart Escape from Aurora. I am not going to say anything about the story except that it carries directly on from the first book so you need to go and read that to find out about our main character Ash who goes on an adventure with his guardian Tobu the Yeti. I had such a wonderful time while reading this book even though Jamie made me cry. Yes he made me cry twice. I do suggest that you pair it with the audiobook and read and listen simultaneously as the Narrator is really rather good. Jamie knocked it out of the park again. I am excited and scared to read the third and final book. For all these reasons I had to give this amazing book 5 stars.

A fantastic second adventure for Ash! This has been an eagerly anticipated sequel and it is as exciting and thrilling as the first.

It was great to re-visit Ash, his abilities and to see where this new adventure would lead him.

If you like a bit of adventure, tales with strong friendships, a great storyline and a whole new frozen world then this is the one for you!

Jamie’s illustrations wonderfully add to his storytelling as you would expect from a talent like his.

Wow. Just, wow. I loved Frostheart, and had been waiting for this one for ages, and it did not disappoint! Full of action, adventure, and some really sweet, touching moments about family and friendship. I loved this and cannot wait for book 3 because I need it so badly!

'Frostheart 2: Escape from Aurora' is another fantastic rollercoaster of a read. A thrilling, action-packed and unputdownable plot that is brimming with a mesmerising cast and believable world - a truly captivating sequel. Littler takes the best bits from book one and makes them even better - a real feat!

Thanks to #NetGalley, the publisher Penguin Random House Children’s UK, and the author Jamie Littler for providing me with a digital copy of #EscapeFromAurora in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way. I loved reading this book, it is the second in a series and I cannot wait for the third instalment. In this book we follow Ash on his adventure to find his missing parents and protect the Frostheart. This book was action packed and what an ending! It was book I did not want to put down and I highly recommend it.

I had high hopes for Frostheart 2, and it's always difficult to write a second book. However, this one was really good. Its a high 4.5 stars for me.
I enjoyed the continuation of the lullaby and riddles, however there were a few parts that felt a bit laboured.
The whole mission to Safeguard felt very long, and was then over very quickly. I enjoyed the cliffhanger at the end, so I'm excited to continue with the story.

Escape from Aurora is the second installment in the high stakes, action packed frozen world of Frostheart - which continues the adventure of Ash as he searches for his missing parents with the help of his crewmates.

The action kicks off right from the start, with a thrilling and tense prologue that quickly demonstrates that Ash is never far from danger. The mysterious and deadly Wraiths will stop at nothing to destroy Ash's world, pitting humans against beasts in a war that has wide reaching consequences. Initially we find Ash and the Frostheart crewmates at Aurora - the biggest city of this world, where people live in relative safety from the Leviathan beasts that plague the icy sea. The city of Aurora is richly described and wonderfully brought to life through Jamie Littler's words and pictures, as we get to explore the city with Ash for the first time. His wonder and excitement is contagious, and when coupled with Lunah's disguises for Tobu and Ash it all adds to the wonderful atsmophere.

I love that each stronghold in the icy sea has such a unique and well defined culture with different types of people inhabiting them. All are represented at Aurora with a camp - from the stronghold that trains animals to the one that guards the forests of the world. Each feels well developed, and well thought-out. Nothing is missed and it all comes together in one big melting pot in Aurora, where pathfinders can come to rest and recuperate before getting back on the open sea. I particularly loved Lunah's home stronghold, with its maps and constellations. It help add depth to Lunah's character too. She seems so confident and outgoing, yet she is vulnerable and insecure - trying to live up to her mother's reputation puts a lot of pressure of her young shoulders.

The novel also does a really good job of addressing some important issues, including discrimination and discussions on fear of the unknown or being different. Song Weavers and how they are treated by the rest of the world plays an important part of the novel, and leads Ash to question a lot about himself, his family and also his 'found family'. The crew of the Frostheart accept him for who he is, which opens the door for Ash to question the true nature of the Leviathans in the world and what they really are. There are some particularly touching scenes that brough a tear to my eye involving song weaving and a Screecher that really was beautifully written.

The mythology and world building is also built upon from the previous novel, drawing on established histories and expanding them. The world in which Ash lives suffered a terrible event in its past, hinted at by structures left from the 'World Before' and we get to explore a bit more of this history as well as exploring new locations. The world feels very dangerous and unforgiving at times, which just makes Ash's quest all the more difficult.

The plot is tightly packed and action filled right from the start to the very last page and I found myself not wanting to put this down. I've grown to love these characters so much over the course of the story, and I cannot wait to read the next book after that shocking ending.

Ahhh Jamie Littler has knocked it out of the park once more.

I adored Frostheart. And this is the perfect sequel! I have to be honest, I ended this book by throwing it across the couch and swearing at the top of my voice. Not how I expected to end a middlegrade book HA.

There's not much I can say about this without spoiling the first book. But it was an absolute dream to be back with the characters. Ash, Lunah and Nuk are my favourite. The atmosphere is outstanding and so perfect for this time of year. I just adored it so much. Highly recommend this series so much.

Where do I even begin!? This book was everything and more. After falling in love with Ash in Frostheart I was eagerly anticipating the sequel Escape From Aurora and wow it did not disappoint. I just went on the absolute ride of my life and Jamie Littler has left me with a soul that is equal parts battered and bruised whilst also being complete and whole! I recommend this series to everyone. I can't wait to see where the third and final book in the trilogy takes us.

The further adventures of the Frostheart! How I'd eagerly awaited this novel, and it was so, so good when I finally got it!

Jamie Littler has created such a fascinating fantasy world, and I absolutely loved getting to explore more of it, with the bold, fantastic crew.

All of the ship captains coming together in Aurora had a distinctive Matrix 2 vibe, with all of these ships gathering to discuss a way forward. Aurora itself was mysterious and magnificent, with just enough of a scary edge to keep the tension high. Then the dangerous trek through the forest was a welcome sight of environments other than the seas of snow and ice, and I felt like it really opened the world up and gave it new complexities I hadn't seen before.

The voyage itself felt suitably dangerous and chaotic, perfectly capturing that bold venture into the unknown.

My absolute favourite thing about this series is the song weaving though. The connections to the world and the people and creatures in it always makes me think of the Force from Star Wars, but the tension between using it in harmony with the world and twisting it into something darker and more dominant honestly feels like how the Light and Dark side of the Force should have been done in the films. Jamie captures that tension, the temptations and the repercussions of using those powers to dominate and control with so much more sophistication, empathy and appeal than those films ever managed!

I also loved the turbulent nature of alliances. Throughout the book, you're never sure who the good guys are and who the baddies are, as more and more of the world is revealed and people reveal themselves and their motives. That is, apart from the crew, who are beautifully solid and dependable, a rock in the middle of an ocean of uncertainty.

I've always been a big fan of Jamie's illustrations, and they're just as magnificent in this book, perfectly capturing the fantastical and wondrous crew, ships and locations.

I'm so excited to see where this series goes next!

In the second of the Frostheart series, Ash, a young song weaver, alongside his friends and crew of the Frostheart, faces another thrilling adventure with even more scrapes and danger than before.
Having safely made it to Aurora, a huge stronghold unlike any Ash has seen or could even imagine, he hopes they finally may be safe. But he soon finds out trouble is stirring within Aurora and song weavers are in danger - a war between an embittered Pathfinder captain and the leviathans is brewing, with Song Weavers caught in the middle. The Frostheart crew flee, however, their next adventure is only just beginning...
‘Frostheart: Escape From Aurora' is a brilliant sequel and, in my opinion, is even better than the first. It is full of fast paced action, intrigue, danger, twists and well developed characters - a combination which will keep you hooked right until the last page. I cannot wait for the next in the series!

Frostheart 2: Escape from Aurora by Jamie Littler was a brilliant read. The characters we loved from the first books develop and grow as does the world which is on par with any top fantasy world. There are so many levels of enjoyment while reading this book and that cliffhanger!? I mean I think its 100% reasonable to expect book 3 now, right? Right?

Middle Grade (MG) isn't usually the type of book that I'd choose to read or pay a great deal of attention to. That being said even I was caught up in the hype when Jamie Littler's Frosthear was released last year.

Frostheart 'Escape from Aurora' reunites us with Ash, and his ongoing quest to find his missing parents. As well as Ash old favourites return in the shape of the Frostheart crew, alongside a bevvy of new and exciting additions.

Being a sequel, it really has to go 'beyond' the original, expanding and improving on both characters and world. I'm thrilled to say that it does and is a genuinely fantastic follow-up.

Littler's imagination and creativity continue to run rampant in what is a stunningly realised and gloriously deep created world. Rich lore drips from the pages, and you feel immersed in the world as you read, particularly if you read aloud.

From start to finish, it is an exciting read chock full of adventure and blessed with perfect pacing. The writing is fun and engaging and will be enjoyed by people of every age, from 1 to 99+.

The characters are engaging and diverse showing levels of nuance and complexity you would typically expect to see in more adult fantasy. This is great for older readers as it doesn't feel too childish and even better for younger readers as there are lessons to be learnt from compassion to friendship.

It wouldn't be right to heap praise on the writing but ignore the illustrations. Inside the book are some of the most beautiful illustrations you'll find in any book regardless of age-range or genre. They are made all the more special for the fact they are drawn by the author himself.

Despite its chilly environments, Frostheart 'Escape from Aurora' is a great big warm hug of a read. It reads and looks amazing and will undoubtedly be a lifetime favourite for scores of young, and old, readers.

Frostheart: Escape from Aurora picks up just weeks after the first book left off. We find ourselves back aboard the Frostheart with Ash, his yeti Guardian Tobu, Lunah the navigator, Captain Nuk, and the rest of the crew. Ash is continuing his mission to solve the riddles his father contained within a lullaby and will hopefully be able to find his parents when he solves it.
Aurora is the Frostheart's home, but not everyone in the stronghold is happy they're back. Ash is a Song Weaver and some people think the Leviathans can control Song Weavers, making them dangerous to all. The last part of the lullaby that Ash solved told him to go to the stronghold called Solstice, but there's a problem: it's hidden and noone knows how to find it.
Rook is a recent addition to the Frostheart's crew and she is also a Song Weaver. The only way she can communicate is through song and only Ash can understand her. Could she be the key to helping Ash solve his riddle?

I loved being back on a snowy adventure with Ash and the crew. The story is fast-paced, unpredictable and darker than the first book. Ash has to learn the hard way who he can and can't trust and (without giving anything away) the ending was brilliant.

I really enjoyed this book as much as the first one.
As the adventure continues and they brave the journey ahead and deal with anything that comes along.
This is a good series to read and highly recommend it.

4.5 Stars - This was really good. I really enjoyed being back in this world with Ash, Luna and the rest of the Frostheart crew. As with the 1st one the artwork is well done and adds to the story. If you have not picked up this series I highly recommend that you do. The story is well written and engaging.
