The second in the series of this wonderful adventure story. Continuing to follow Ash and the crew of the Frostheart on his search for Solstice and his parents. All the familiar characters are back and that ending was immense. Can't believe I have to wait to find out what happens!!!!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and am pleased to report that the sequel does not disappoint. It was nice to be back with the Frostheart's crew as Ash continues with his search for his parents. The story is full of action, the characters are wonderfully written and there are some truly scary baddies! Reading a digital copy meant that I couldn't fully appreciate the illustrations, but I have now seen a finished copy and it is truly beautiful! My only problem is with the ending. Talk about cliff-hanger! The third installment cannot come soon enough for me! Perfect middle grade adventure.

A great sequel to the first book, full of action and adventure. You'll love being back with Ash and the rest of the crew for another gripping adventure.

Ash finally arrives at the stronghold of Aurora with the rest of his crew. It's more amazing than he could ever have expected, but unfortunately the people there are not all as accepting of his kind as he had hoped. The quest for his parents isn't over yet and when they are forced to make a hasty retreat from Aurora, the journey gets even tougher as they face more challenges.
There's a map at the beginning of the book which is always a bonus! I found the story a bit slower going than the first one and at the start it didn't really hold my attention, but around halfway in it really got fast and interesting. By the end I didn't want to put it down. There's a lot going on at the ending and just when you think you're safe you get to the cliffhanger! This leads on nicely to book 3 which we hopefully don't have to wait too long for.

This is the second instalment in the Forstheart series.
Ash and his guardian, yeti Tobu, are not fully-fledged members of the Frostheart crew. Ash is accepted and protected for his Song Weaving abilities, despite the distrust it usually garners, but bonds will be put to the test when they enter the stronghold of Aurora and discover war is imminent and plans have been made to deliver those just like Ash to the centre of it.
This second series instalment has yet again proven just why I am growing to love middle grade so much as an adult. The characters are immediately lovable, the plot is thrilling and full of daredevil escapades, the world is as full of danger as it is chance for adventure, and the story-line is designed to both pull on the heartstrings and provide instruction on how the reader can be and do better themselves, in the process.

The title of this book is quite deceiving, as is the blurb. They're only in Aurora for about a third of the book, and getting out of there is actually relatively easy for them. From the blurb and title, I was expecting an adventure in the city itself, full of danger and stymied attempts to leave, with a big final escape in the third act that then lead to a discovery to kickstart the next book (which I am assuming is a trilogy. There definitely is another book coming)
This is absolutely not what happened. Instead, the book is a quest to find the hidden city of Solstice, which takes Ash and the crew of the Frostheart all across the world in the second two acts of the book. I love quests, and I really enjoyed this book as Ash unravels a riddle to search for the city where his father might be. However, I wish it was packaged better so I'd known it was a quest book rather than a prison escape book. It took a while to get past the disappointment of unfulfilled expectation, hence it's not five stars.
Once I'd gotten past that, it was a really nice book. Ash is learning about his gift, and uncovering some secrets at the heart of his world. It's a tried and tested idea for a second book, but it works so well. It's a chance to dig deeper into the world building and increase the stakes.
This book is illustrated, once again by Jamie Littler himself. Usually, illustrations cause HAVOC in eARCs (which are notorious for having poor formatting even when they're text only). However, this was one of those rare eARCs that was formatted fine, which meant not only was it easy to read, but I could also appreciate the images. They weren't cut up into six pieces and scattered around.
Naturally, being on a digital reader, the images were quite small and they weren't integrated with the text the way they would be in the book (the images are between paragraphs in this), so I couldn't appreciate the full affect of them, but they look as dynamic and fun as before. I really like this art style, and it's an effective world building tool.
The ending sets up an interesting dilemma for the next book - and brings Ash one step closer to finding his parents...

Oh my word, that was an incredible read! It's not often that I'm more impressed by the second book in a series than the first! I absolutely loved it. Full of magic and adventure!

Frostheart 2
This is a very anticipated release after the amazing first book Frostheart. Ash is back with his quest, brave, curious and determined. Jamie Littler is not only an amazing writer, the language in the book is beautiful, but also an incredible illustrator. His drawings are an addition to the story itself and characters captivating. Exciting and inspiring settings like ‘Aurora’ this book will ignite children’s imagination. Can you image visiting these fantastic snowy places? As James Littler himself describes ‘awe-inspiring’. Yes, I could say the same about his book. Now let’s anxiously wait for the next one!

Ash and the Frostheart gang are back for a second epic adventure. This journey leads the team to Aurora, the most amazing stronghold where everyone gathers. It’s the centre of the world and Ash is completely blown away. There are people from all over the map and the world is bigger than Ash ever imagined. Amidst his awe, Ash is still determined to find his parents. There is only one clue left to discover. As Song Weavers become threatened and danger begins to rise, Ash must leave Aurora for his ultimate quest. He faces new dangers, horrible monsters and challenging mysteries but never gives up hope. Ash’s resilience and true grit in the face of adversity make him a beloved hero and readers will continue to cheer him on to the very end!
Thank you to NetGalley and Puffin Children’s Books for this great adventure!

A great second adventure that takes us with Ash and the crew onto the next part of the adventure. As one would expect Aurora is not all it seems and things take a turn for the worst for the song weavers who live there.
The relationship between Ash and the rest of the crew is built upon and we learn more about the wraiths and other magical creatures.
A gripping adventure that answers some questions but poses others. I thoroughly enjoyed it and now need the third part to see where Ash goes next.

Frostheart 2: Escape From Aurora follows Ash as he is still trying to find his parents with the help of the crew on the Frostheart.
I absolutely love the world that Jamie Littler has created in this series and felt like this book took the world development to another level as there was so many new places that were discovered in this book. I also love the magic system and seeing Ash grow into his powers as a Song Weaver.
As with the first book in the series, I felt like the first part of the book was a bit slow as it was setting up the story but as soon as I got into the second part, the pace of the book began to pick up and I found myself becoming more invested in Ash’s journey.
My favourite thing about this series is the characters. I love the strong friendships between all of the characters, especially the relationship between Ash and Tobu, which I felt like was explored a lot more in this book compared to the first one. I also really loved the development of Rook in this book and getting to see her character and find out her back story which is something we were not able to get in the first book in the series.
Frostheart 2: Escape From Aurora was as fun and enjoyable as the first book in the series. I loved being able to follow Ash’s journey as he is growing up and learning to accept himself. The cliffhanger right at the end was something that I did not expect to happen and I can’t wait to read the third book in the series to see what will happen next!

I recevied an eARC from Puffin and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Frostheart was a sensational debut from this author and they have followed it up with an amazing sequel! This book gave me all the magical wintery vibes I could want and it was packed with mysteries, adventure and friendship. I really wish I could read book 3 right now, because after the ending of this one, I'm desperate to know what happens next.
The story begins with Ash and the crew of the Frostheart arriving in Aurora. They are excited to spend some time relaxing, catching up with old friends and enjoying all the wonders this stronghold has to offer. However, the crew soon discovers that Aurora may not be as safe and peaceful as it initially appears. With Leviathan attacks increasing and the Pathfinder way of life threatened, tensions are running high and Song Weavers are in more danger than ever. Once again Ash and his friends have to go on the run. However, by fleeing Aurora, the crew find themselves back on the dangerous snow sea where ferocious Leviathans and sinister Wraiths lurk. Will the crew of the Frostheart ever find a safehaven?
One of the things I love most about these books is the world that the author has created. The Snow Sea, the Pathfinder ships, the mysteries of song weaving: all these things make the story so interesting and magical . There is a deep history full of legends and artefacts and each new discovery gives us more clues about what happened to the world before. There are diverse groups of people with their own traditions, styles of clothing, food and customs. All of this makes the world more believable and in turn makes me care about these characters and their struggles.
Speaking of characters, Ash, Lunah and Tobu are all wonderful. Wonderfully flawed and wonderfully brilliant all in their own way. They each have challenges to overcome and I love how their personal journeys intertwine and we get to see how each of them are growing and helping the others. Also Master Pod...I really would love to hug him because he's just adorable, but I think he'd be very offended if I did!
This book is a must read for anyone aged 8+ who is looking for a wintery, magical adventure. I think fans of ATLA and Mortal Engines will definitely love this series.

This is the sequel to Frostheart, which I enjoyed a few months ago. It follows on nicely from the first book, continuing the tale of Ash, and his friends, as he searches for his parents, and where he belongs.
I thought this story was well written, and it is certainly extremely exciting! I enjoyed meeting with all the fun characters from the first book, as well as a few new ones. There are also a couple of exciting new locations to explore. Ash’s continuing revelations of the nature of leviathans are great to read about, and I loved getting to know more about Rook.
However, I found it rather too stressful for my taste. There are too many people (and creatures) hating others, and trying to kill them. This is the kind of real-world nastiness that I read to escape from.
The illustrations are excellent, as they were in the first story. They are really expressive, and bring the people and locations to life (not to mention the leviathans).
I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed Frostheart, and to anyone looking for a thrilling fantasy adventure.
I was given a free copy of this book, my opinions are my own.

This is the second in the series and continues Ash’s journey to find his parents. This instalment takes him to the magical city of Aurora. Ash has more puzzles from the lullaby to solve in order to help him on his quest. This book was as good, if not better, than the original. It is cleverly written, many twists and turns and I could not put it down. Highly recommend.

Frostheart 2 was my most anticipated release as I adored the first book. My hopes were so high that I thought this one could only disappoint, however it smashed through every expectation I had. The sequel was even better than Frostheart as we continue to follow Ash on his quest to find his parents. I adore all of the characters in this series and it kept me hooked from page one!

What an adventure! This felt so exciting to read with plenty of twists and turns along the way. Loved the illustrations they really helped bring everything to life. Great fun read for all ages not just middle-grade. Ash is such a great lead character and a fab role model.
Thank you so much for the ARC I have loved every second and looking forward to more!

Aurora takes Ash’s breath away, he never thought he would see a place so magnificent and inspiring but danger always seems to be creeping towards the intrepid crew of the Frostheart. It lurks everywhere, even in such a place of wonder. Ash is conflicted as he feels the pull of completing his father’s riddle but doesn't want to be parted from his new-found friends. Surviving the upcoming threat is going to be a hard task when the vile wraiths are skulking with hideous intent and stalking him.
It’s an incredible feeling when you get to continue an exciting odyssey with characters that you loved so much. Frostheart felt like a piece of glorious art, something I wanted to share with everyone and the sequel is tremendous. The world that Littler has created is exceptional with majestic characters that are curious & brave and adversaries that have deliciously treacherous personalties. I was originally a fan of his creative style from his work with Danny Wallace and I marvel at the way he creates the perfect drawings to match such a vibrant & entertaining story. I expect great things for the next part of Ash’s journey.

Wow, wow, wow!
I've been eagerly awaiting this since I read Frostheart last November and it was worth the wait!
I can't help but get sucked into this fantasy world feeling as though it is real. Ash is facing a personal crisis , not knowing who to trust. He wants his birth family but also loves his chosen Pathfinder and yeti family.
There are twists and turns on every page and I know it's going to be a brilliant addition to any classroom/home bookshelf for anyone aged 8+.
Brilliant adventure, mystery, magic and more from the fantastic Jamie Littler with such an exciting cliffhanger at the end! Now to recommend it to everyone I meet and anticipate a hopeful book 3!

I was so excited to read Frostheart 2 and it is a brilliant sequel! Action packed and full of excitement while also unfolding the mysteries of Song Weavers and Leviathans. The illustrations give this book even more life. The final page with the twist and the illustration made me close to tears.

What a rip-roaring adventure! Danger, mystery and action combined with comedy, friendship and a whole lot of love make Frostheart 2: Escape from Aurora a must-read sequel.
We rejoin Ash and the crew of the Frostheart as they arrive in Aurora in search of the next clue in Ash’s quest to find his parents. Will he find the answers he so desperately seeks?
Monsters, battles, a mysterious quest... what more could you want from a book?! It is a fast-paced, action-filled story with plot twists a plenty. Fans of the first book will not be disappointed - Escape from Aurora more than lives up to its prequel.
