Conservative Clara moves to LA to push things forward with her long time crush Everett, who is actually away on tour. What then ensues is Clara living with a complete stranger (Everetts housemate) Josh, the darling of the porn industry & their laugh out loud, tension filled romp to romance. Romantic comedy at its finest, I will definitely be reading more by this author. Thankyou to to #netgalley for giving me this ARC in return for my honest review.

I expected The Roommate to be a quirky romantic comedy, but I didn't expect to fall completely head over heels for an art history graduate and her "Adult Performer" flatmate.

I don't actually have the words to properly describe how much I adored this book. Just do yourself a favour, and read it. Then add Rosie Danan to your auto buy list. It'll be the best gift you ever give yourself!

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Clara has packed her life up for the summer and headed to LA to stay with her longtime friend Everett. Friends for 14 years she has always held a torch for him and she is hoping that this summer will make him realise that they could be more than friends. However, he bails on her the moment he drops her off at his house in favour of a last-minute tour with his band. But she won't be alone, he has let his room out to Josh.

Josh is hoping that his new living arrangement will be a short term thing. Just enough time for his ex-girlfriend to cool off and for them to get back together. Meeting Clara, she is nothing like he has known before and they opt to come up with roommate guidelines in order for a harmonious living arrangement. All was going well until Clara found out what Josh does for a living and things suddenly change.

Although there had been sparks of chemistry beforehand, suddenly the air is palpable. Are they ready to blur the lines between roommate, lover and partnership? A hot read and one that will have you thinking about the voyage of discovery between two people.

Hello, my name is Charlotte and I would die for Josh Connors. That may sound like an overstatement, but during my time reading this book the male protagonist stole my heart and is currently holding it for ransom.

The Roommate follows the story of Clara, having moved to LA in pursuit of her long term crush. When he suddenly announces he's leaving town and instead some random male is going to be occupying his room Clara considers fleeing back home. But then Clara finds out Josh is a well-known porn star and suddenly things are getting rather steamy between them.

First and foremost the chemistry between Clara and Josh was insane, there was clearly something between them from the first few pages of the two of them meeting and I was desperately waiting for things to progress. Their interactions made me smile, and made me feel sad about being alone but isn't that what a good romance novel is meant to do.

If you're in pursuit of some steam this book has it in bucketfuls, I mean I was expecting it but it arose earlier than I was anticipating. That being said this book was paced really well, the romance never felt rushed and the relationship between the two felt like it was progressing at a really natural pace.

I did consider docking this book a star for the ending which I found somewhat disappointing after all the amazing build-up, the resolution just all seemed a little cliche. But when I look back on this book I'm remembering all the times it made me smile, not the average ending, and so I think this is one that I'll be thinking about with warm fuzzy feelings for a while to come.

This book came as a nice breeze of surprise for me. I have always been a sucker for roommate romances and this one delivered on all counts.
Clara uproots her entire life from New York to LA on the chance of being roommates with her life long crush and bestfriend but instead finds herself sharing an apartment with a total strange who just might be the most happening thing in the adult entertainment industry.
The chemistry between Clara and Josh was fireworks right from the start. But the relationship also had just as much tenderness and sweetness interspersed within all the steaminess. I loved Josh’s character and how he is unapologetic about his chosen profession but I also loved how the author was able to bring in a vein of vulnerability which made it all the more believable. I wish a little bit kore about how Clara faces her insecurities and faces upto her family was included because the lack of it made her character appear a bit flat.
I also really appreciated the progressive, sex- positive premise of the book and would love to try more of this author’s works.
Definitely recommended

This book was really not for me. I ended up DNFing it.
The characters were either unlikable or total Mary Sues. They had actually no depth and the evolution and character development didn’t feel realistic to me.
I expected to come into this and have a fun romantic comedy but I didn’t laugh once while reading.
The relationship between the main couple felt completely unrealistic and unnatural.
The writing itself was good though I didn’t enjoy that it was written in third person. It felt like the wrong choice for this style of book.
