This was a strange and creepy book. I didn’t love it but didn’t hate it either. I did have a hard time getting into it, though. I kept putting it down and picking it back up and putting it down again. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters.

What I really enjoyed about The Good Neighbour was that the action started nearly on page one and didn't let up until the end. It was hard to stop turning pages and this could easily be a one sitting read for mystery fans.

What I didn't like was any of the characters and that beyond the first couple of shocks, the action grew repetitive. By the end of the book I found myself a bit confused by what was going on but also can't say I cared enough to really dig into the storyline. All in all, this was a fun read for a bit but I am doubtful it will be a memorable read.

This would be a quick and easy read for thriller fans and I will say that it had an exciting blend of thriller and horror which is quite unique to what I typically read.

Loses a star for me because I felt it was a bit hard to get into the first few chapters.

One lesson I learnt from this book that if you are ever stuck, call the police first!! This book was super creepy but you just could not put it down. I did get annoyed at the main character for being a bit reckless and some parts of the story did seem a bit far fetched but it was a great book. A good summer read.

Driving along a familiar country road late at night by herself, Leah Talbot avoids crashing into a motorbike only to hit a deer and crash her car.
Disoriented and unable to reach her estranged husband, Leah finds herself knocking on the front door of the only house along the road that she can find.
Martin Tate answers the door and upon seeing how upset Leah is, invites her inside. After borrowing his phone, Leah finds herself overwhelmed and passes out.
Once she regains consciousness, she and Martin have a pleasant chat while waiting for the tow truck. Engaging in some light flirting, Leah finds herself kissing Martin. Realising what she has done, Leah flees the house.

The next morning, Leah returns to the house with a thank you gift. Only the police answer. There's a dead body inside. And it's not Martin.

The Good Neighbour is a very good domestic thriller. The author weaves a cat and mouse tale that is full of twists, drama, danger and action. It also draws you in by being atmospheric and suffocating.
The only thing that let's it down is I found some of Leah's actions to be a bit nonsensical and didn't make much sense to me. But other than that, a brilliant, fun and scary read!

So the way this book started out, really was creepy. But then it soften a bit and I sort of felt like it was like any other thriller/mystery type book. Not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, but it was a bit drab after a while. I would read more by the author, but this wasn't my favorite.

I absolutely love good psychological thriller's and this novel was atmospheric, CREEPY with a lot of dark secrets and twist 😉I'm always happy when I don't quite figure out the twist!
Quick read so i recommend it definitely.

he Good Neighbour by R. J. Parker was a brilliant audiobook and the narrator by Rose Robinson was spot on! This was a audio book that had you hooked from the beginning. This is a fast-paced thriller that takes place entirely within a 24 hour period.Leah accidently kills a deer whilst driving in her car and when she checks her phone to get help, she finds her phone battery is dead!!! Leah, gets out of the car to make the area safe and walks up to the nearest house and knocks on the door and ask to use their phone. She meets Martin, who seems to be very handsome, charming and very helpful,

Then, the fun begins.............

Oh boy and what a fast pace and a rollercoaster this book was........I loved it

We'll all are a bit more paranoid after months of being cooped up and separated from our fellow men. If you are an introvert or just out of practice socializing, this novel won't help overcome that. What I liked about it that it turns the story of the good samaritan on its head. One night driving home late, Leah Talbot hits a deer, her car is totaled, and she can't reach anybody to help her. So she makes her way to the house near to her. There she is welcomed by a warm and inviting home filled with excellent cooking smells and a perfect gentleman named Martin Tate, who helps her out. Now, strangely enough, and maybe because of shock, she finds herself kissing this man briefly, even if she is living together with a not-so-dependable boyfriend. The next day when she returns to pick up her car, wracked with guilt and confusion, she finds the police in this house eager to talk with her. Not to give anything away, what follows is an exciting cat and mouse game that will have Leah betray the love of her life, lie to the police and fight for her loved ones' life.
I loved how straightforward this was, no fuss, just continuous tension and ever-worsening circumstances for Leah. It is not reinventing the wheel; this is one of the many stories dealing with bad relationships, the guilt after cheating, and the lies we tell ourselves to stay in relationships. What is new is that this kind of story used to be told from a male perspective. But here, the femme fate is a relentless insightful manipulator who is as evil as they come. Not a good one to restore your faith in humanity, but an excellent freight train that does not slow down until the very end.

I really love the premise of The Good Neighbor by R. J. Parker. On a rainy night, Leah has a single-car accident. With her car disabled, she knocks on the door of the nearest home, and she is invited in by a nice man who offers her a meal and a drink, lets her call her absent husband, and then calls the tow service. The next morning, inexplicably drawn to this man, Leah goes back to the house (which isn't too far from her own home) to thank him, only to find the house swarming with police because the home owner has been murdered. The catch: the homeowner is a woman, who lived alone.

From there, things quickly spiral out of control for Leah and her husband Elliot. The neighbor is quite taken with Leah, and he will do whatever it takes to get control of Leah's life.

This book was a quick read that kept me engaged the entire time. I will say that Leah made some very poor choices, more than once, and that irked me. The last parts of the book felt a little too over-the-top. That said, I will definitely pick up another R. J. Parker novel when I have the chance, because the idea of this story is just so good.

This is definitely one of those thrillers you start on a Sunday afternoon and finish that night! I loved that this book was so fast paced and takes place in a 24 hour period! Leah hits a deer and finds the nearest house, when she knocks on the door Martin answers and helps her. When Leah goes back to thank Martin she discovers that Martin was not the home owner and actually the real owner was killed around that same time! The rest of this book is this constant mystery and back and forth between Leah and Martin. If you enjoy fast paced thrillers and yelling at your book because the main character keeps doing the dumb things we hate from scary movies, then this book is for you!

This was highly recommend which was why I wanted to read it. The beginning instantly grabbed my attention. Leah hit a deer with her car and went to a neighbors house to call for a car service and to wash up. The neighbor, Martin, was kind enough to let her use the washroom and the phone. The following day she went back to thank him but got the news that he murdered her neighbor yet spared her. Great and spooky introduction. Then the story went downhill. First, I thought Leah was stupid. Following directions from a mad man but never involving the police?! Second, her husband told her two years ago he doesn’t love her, why in the world was she with him? Why bother staying with someone who doesn’t care. Third, the ending was meh. I was hoping for a spectacular ending to a great beginning. But that didn’t happen. Overall, this book was meh for me.

This books was pretty fast paced which made it easy to read and pick up, but it didn’t thrill me as much as other R. J. Parker books have done. I didn’t feel much of connection to any of the characters so I wasn’t too interested in what was going to happen next.

I recommend this page-turning read.

Wow, this was a creepy, messed up thriller. and I was all about it! It is a fast-paced, quick read. The story starts off with one thing and that leads to something else, and then I was hooked. I highly recommend this for readers that enjoy thrillers!

Enjoyed reading, with a mix of a crafty serial killer and a defiant “heroine”, what’s not to love? Would recommend!

Hitting a deer on her way home, Leah stops at a house on the deserted road and encounters a handsome and charming neighbor, Martin Tate. Something feels off to Leah-even though she's initially charmed by Tate. The next day, after the AA helps her home, Leah discovers the neighbor is murdered. Except the neighbor is a woman and no man lives in that house. What ensues is a horrifying game of cat and mouse. If you are looking for a suspenseful, scary thrill-ride of a book pick this one up! You will not be disappointed.
