Data is said to be the new oil. And this book is a nice introduction to anyone interested to know the bare basics of big data. The book is written in simple concise language and presented in a way that captured the interest of the reader. This is not a book intended for experts or academic use and can be considered as an introduction to an enthusiast.

At risk of being a little nerdy, I really enjoy data science and how data is visually represented.

This was an interesting read but stylistically I didn't find myself enjoying the book as much as I hoped.

Really great stuff! I don't think I'm smart enough to remember a lot of what I read, but it was very interesting nonetheless.

“30 Data Science” is the ideal introduction to every aspect that goes under the term Data Science. The book is split into several sections. It starts with the basics of data science, such as what is data collection and statistics. Then there are 6 major sections- Uncertainty,Science, Society,Busines, Pleasure and The Future. Each of these sections are subdivided into chapters that relate to the section. For instance, under Business, there are chapters on Logistics, Financial Modelling and Marketing. Each section begins with a glossary of important terms and each section has a particular focus on a major person related to the theme. So for Business , it is Herman Hollerith. The information is presented in an attractive way. But what is the strength of the book is how it is organised. Each page has several aspects . There is the major article which describes the subject in detail, a paragraph that describes it in a few sentences then a one sentence definition. There is also a few important figures listed to do with that subject. It could sound messy but the page is easy to navigate around. I found this approach ideal because I could read however much I wanted and learn about the subject on the level which suited me. And I liked the link to the important people too. I found myself learning more than I expected easily and quickly. I would highly recommend this book as a good introduction to the subject of data science.
