This is a second chance at love story albeit with a 27 year gap, with Rohan believed to be dead. Dealing with interracial marriages and disagreements over life choices I didn’t find it a particularly festive read.

Second Chance Romance set in Banff with lots of snow, dogs and mountain rescue.
Elise was on the Search and Rescue team with her dog Baxter
But had given it up – she claimed perhaps it was because she was getting older, even though she was extremely fit, but there had been incident with her last search and rescue that had left her psychologically scarred.
But she was called out on an emergency as no one else was available and an old flame, Rohan, turned up. But Rohan had been dead for 27 years so who was this stranger? And she had a sone to concern herself about now so she needed to be very cautious.
Rohan Khan worked with animals, dogs, but wasn’t native or even living in Banff. He was just there to retrieve some dogs – huskies in fact – that had been rescued from a bad place where they had been mis-treated and finding himself called out to the rescue was not what he had been expecting. But the rescue was at the place he was collecting the huskies from so he helped Elise.
This is a story about love lost and found, but includes elements of inter-racial marriage, accidents, and to some extent, dealing with prejudice about life choices.
A nice ‘older characters’ romance with credible story-line. But seriously going out for mountain search and rescue in your 40s is seriously fit Elise!

27 years ago Elise was pregnant and told that her boyfriend Rohan was killed in a car accident, now three days before christmas she finds herself face to face with the ghost of her past. I really liked the dynamics that so much time had elapsed and we were now dealing with an older couple which is something you don't always see in romance books. Elisa and Rohan need to work out whether there is a future for them and whether they can pick up where they left off. I really enjoyed this story, I liked the quirkiness of an older couple and could buy in to the characters.

This is a poignant but positive story that focuses on family, forgiveness and the future. Despite losing nearly three decades, the connection between Elise and Rohan is still passionate. Elise is a likeable character, a dedicated doctor and selfless mother. Meeting Rohan again is unexpected.

There's a mystery surrounding their break-up which is devastating but gives hope for a future together. Neither are the same people who fell in love in their twenties, but this later life love story has more than memories to bind it.

The characters are believable and easy to like. The external conflicts are predominately historic. The internal conflicts are harder to overcome when they meet for a second time, but the chance of happiness and family life is a worthy goal.

There are some delightful animal characters in this festive story and a well-deserved happy ending.

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

A long lost, thought dead lover, reappears with no memory of any of their previous life, but is still instantly attracted to his passed love.

Another big shock is that the accident that supposedly took his life according to his family, caused amnesia. But he had subconsciously visited places they had seen together, so some level of memory was drawing them together again.

His surprise is that he is a father and has been unaware of it for the last twenty seven years.

With a happy ever after ending in this romantic story of love, commitment and happiness after years of deeply missed and yearned for love.

I thought that this was a beautiful story and it had a captivating plot.

The book was told by the author with a true fondness and love for the characters and that came through in the writing style.

The book was full of passion, romance and there was a great level of attention to detail. The book flowed really well and the pace was spot on which made it an additive read.

I thought that the characters were well developed and I loved the interaction.

This is an excellent book and a real page turner and a heartfelt, warm “true” romance – it is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended!!

This novel takes place over the three days before Christmas. Even though it spanned a short time period I didn’t feel the story line was rushed. This novel is about Elise Van Hagen who is an ER doctor. She lives in Banff and has a grown son, who is away travelling. Elise used to be a member of the local search and rescue but something happened that made her stop.
Three days before Christmas, she is phoned by one of her friends, who is the search and rescue leader, asking her to go to an emergency close by he, of a friend who is stuck in a caved in building, to see if she can help, as it will take himself and the crew longer to get there than her. She agrees. When she arrives, she assesses the situation and is aware of another man there who looks familiar, in amongst the family of the friend. As she does all she can, the strange but familiar man helps her. We find out after the rescue that he is Rohan Khan, a vet, with whom Elise was in a relationship during their college years. He has promised her he would be back to her for Christmas from a visit home and didn’t appear.
The novel revolves round the two of them coming to terms with not only why Rohan didn’t come back but also the consequences of their relationship.
This was a well written novel but there are faults with the plot. I am not going to say more.

I am sorry but I really disliked this story.

I really was so upset at the sheer horror and sadness of it. I’ve always hated stories where the father doesn’t know he’s a father for several ,years - but in this one thanks to Rohan.’s hateful, father and cousin , 27 years elapse between the h/H Rohan and Elise being together and him discovering he is a father! Elise was told by the horrible Dad that Rohan was dead! Rohan turns up not remembering anything because of the accident and only then does Elise Ellie’s he is alive and he discovers he’s the father of a 26 year old son.

No, this is just unacceptable for a romance. Sorry, in what dimension is this meant to be a satisfyingly, romantic story? They lost 27 years! 27! Sorry, the author can write well and I’ve enjoyed other stories by her but I hated this one.
