This was my first by Ginger Scott and I didn’t realise it was the last book in a series. I tried really hard to like this book but to be honest I struggled to like or identify with any of the main characters. The story line just didn’t grab me like I would have liked. The last 10 percent was probably the best, when all the plot lines came together. I did really enjoy all the floral creations Tom made and having the scent as well as the design described.
I know lots of people will enjoy this, it just wasn’t for me.

I thought that this was a really good book and I really, really enjoyed it, it was one that made me go all gooey inside!

The attention to details in the story was great and it really helped the author bring life to the story and her characters.

I thought that the characters were well developed and I loved the interaction, they all gelled really well together and it made for an additive read for me and this was the perfect end to the series.

This is an excellent book and one I thoroughly enjoyed - it is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended!!

I’m mixed about this one. It was a lovely story of friendships & love, that fact that it was set in a wonderfully charming hotel at Christmas was all the makings of a marvellous Christmas story, but it just felt like it was lacking.
I’ve read a lot of Christmas stories & it just wasn’t as good as some others I’ve read.
That being said I still enjoyed it & the ending & the health condition was a nice little touch. Showing love conquers all. I would still recommend this one just not in my top 5.

The phrase “love is blind” has never rang more true than it did while reading this book. Another well written, easy to read love story by Katie Ginger. I found myself drawn in to the characters and caring about what happened to all of them. I can’t wait for the next series!

This is the first Katie Ginger book that I have read and was pleasantly surprised. Certainly need to read the others in the series. It is full of love and unexpected plot twists. Hoping this will be a success for Katie.

A lovely love story with twists you did not see. You could not believe the lengths people would go to to ruin other peoples bussiness. I loved Cats mother in a sarcastic way. The love element crept up on you and the way friends try to protect people when they are ill. A good read

What a lovely little read. Although I hasn’t read the other books in the series I will go on and read them soon.
This was a lovely romance with loads of references to romantic films.

The characters of Tom, Kieran, Cat and Nell were lovely and charming. Their friendships were true and honest.

This book was full of warmth and charm. I could almost feel the warmth from the log fires and smell the Christmas spices.

I wasn’t too sure about Harry, I expected him to be a cad and fleece her of money or try and seduce her.

Overall a really lovely book to embrace over a mug of baileys hot chocolate or three.

A really lovely Christmas story. I loved the main characters Nell and Tom, along with Keiron and Cat. Mr Scrooge is adorable and the whole story was so well described, that I could picture Holly Lodge along with all the other things. A great read.

This is a book that you'll find yourself immersed in....you'll fall in love with the characters and feel their hurts, and their joys, deeply. You'll be angry at the wrongs done in the name of improving the bottom line, and you'll root for Nell to finally get her happy ever after - whether with Harry or Tom. In spite of a few deep moments, it's overall, a sweet, light read.

The third and final in the Swallowtail Bay series but can easily be read as a stand alone. In this outing Nell is struggling to keep her hotel afloat after a big luxurious chain comes to town but is also trying to rebrand as a wedding venue to bring in more business.. However, she also spends a lot of her days lost in daydreams based on her favourite rom-coms. Whilst fantasising about being swept off her feet by a handsome stranger she risks losing not only her business but also the opportunity of realising that Mr Right might be closer than she thinks.
I really liked Nell and loved her continual references to my favourite rom-com moments. However, the story has an added dimension through Tom's story and his concerns about his health (a few echoes of Mr Rochester at times). The story is enjoyable and has many facets with Bridezilla mum and the hotel's vendetta against Nell but the pace and likability of the characters made me race through this really festive read.

What an absolute festive treat this book was, brimming with Christmas and romance I didn't want to put it down and just had to keep reading. Amazing descriptions of the Christmas market, describing sights and smells to bring it to life so it was a real assault on the senses and increased my excitement for Christmas with each chapter that I inhaled.

I loved Nell and her huge heart, she was so desperate to get everything right, she always put everyone ahead of herself. There was drama in relation to the wedding plans and the angst and frustration for the wedding was really well portrayed for all characters. As I neared the end the emotions were building and I could feel myself welling up.

A story that I absolutely loved with links to characters we've previously met at this gorgeous seaside town. I will miss this series as have loved each book and the individuality and the different characters we have met in Swallowtail Bay.

Vibrant character, wedding emotions and jitters, real life issues turning hotel around. Delicious food features heavily with detailed descriptions for tastes and smell.

A 5* heartwarming story oozing with Christmas and romance.

Katie you've created the most beautiful book full of everything I love. Christmas, beautiful ornaments, gorgeous hotels, seaside, romcom's, flowers. What more could I ask for. I got choked up and a small tear escaped at the end, a very moving scene. Not very often this happens when reading a book. Sad it's the final visit to Swallowtail Bay but what a brilliant trilogy it has been. You don't need to have read the previous two books to thoroughly enjoy this book but you'll have missed out on two fantastic stories. Thank you and 5 stars just don't seem enough xx

I really enjoyed reading Winter Wishes at Swallowtail Bay, it was a lovely cozy Christmas read.
I was sucked into Nell’s love of Hot Chocolate, Mince Pies and RomCom Movies. I enjoyed her friendship with Tom,Cat & Kieran. It was obvious from the start that Tom’s feelings for Nell ran deeper than friendship.
Nell runs a Small hotel “Holly Lodge” and is supported in this by Florist Tom who is always on hand with floral arrangements.
The story unfolds when the Managers of a rival hotel try to sabotage the increasing popularity of Holly Lodge.
I also enjoyed hearing about Tom’s Grandad Nigel who lives in a care home and his lady friend Enid, and the antics of Nell’s adopted cat Mr Scrooge.
Definitely a book that will make you excited for Christmas. I devoured every page.

This was a wonderful ending to this series.
Nell is a romantic dreamer, always thinking and imagining real life will work out like it does in all the romance movies she loves. She owns a small hotel in town and has been having trouble getting guests since a large chain hotel opened nearby. Her best friend, Cat, is getting married and hosting her reception at Nell's hotel. Nell is determined to use the wedding as a springboard to jump start business. But trouble begins to happen for Nell after her and her friend, Tom, go to dinner at the new hotel. Bad reviews are being posted that Nell can't understand.
While nothing goes smoothly, like it does in the movies, Cat and Kiernan, and Tom and Nell all seem to find their happily ever after.

Absolutely gorgeous read which has given me all the feels. I love this author and this book could be my new favourite

In the summer, I blogged about Summer Strawberries so, I was thrilled to get a chance to return and review Winter Wishes.
I think that many of us have the essence of Nell and can easily be side-tracked into imagining romantic scenarios; just me? OK.
This story revolves around Nell and her three friends, Tom, Cat and Kieran. Cat and Kieran are planning for a Christmas wedding at Nell’s boutique hotel, hopefully the first of many which will turn the tide on the hotel’s misfortunes. Tom is the local florist who is besotted with Nell but too afraid to risk rejection by letting her know.
This book has romance and humour by the bucket! Nell’s imagination is wonderful although it leads her to overlook the chance of romance that’s staring her in the face. Despite her not having a special someone in her life, Nell is committed to making Swallowtail Bay the happiest place on earth. Her kindness extends to the local care home, junior school and Mayoral chambers so, it’s infuriating to discover that she is on the receiving end of a smear campaign to blacken the name of her hotel.
You could be forgiven for assuming that this story is all romance and frills, but it also tackles the frailty of health in a way that offers hope and education to some serious conditions. This doesn’t detract from the story at all, in fact, it contributes to a very happy ending.
So, grab your fancy hat, there’s a wedding to attend!

I loved this book. It was beautifully written and a real page turner. Just the thing to escape the problems of the day. Swallowtail Bay sounds delicious and Holly Lodge sounds like an idyllic place to stay. It was lovely to read about Nell and Tom and their relationship it was heartwarming. Nell fought on regardless of what was thrown at her especially with the opening of Langdon Mansion Hotel. I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it.

A heart-warming Christmas romance, Winter Wishes at Swallowtail Bay is the story of Nell, a woman whose hotel is struggling since a more upscale hotel moved into town. Determined that her friend will have a wonderful wedding at the hotel, Nell embraces the holidays and the task. However, can Nell save Holly Lodge before it’s too late?

Tom has loved Nell since he met her but is too afraid of ruining their friendship to reveal his feelings. However, when a chain hotel moves into their small town and threatens Nell’s beloved Holly Lodge, Tom is ready to fight alongside Nell to keep her business afloat.

I loved the relationship between Nell and Tom as well as the other relationships in the story. Nell is a kind and determined woman, and Tom is dependable and loyal. Their relationship is lovely, and they complement each other well. Strong friendships and supportive community relationships are also highlighted in the novel, and I love the depiction of strong women throughout the novel.

I also enjoyed the festive Christmas atmosphere among the stress and intensity of weddings and personal and professional turmoil. It is an interesting juxtaposition, as the jovial and light atmosphere stands in stark contrast to the issues that Nell and Tom face.

Readers who like heartwarming, small-town, contemporary romance set during the Christmas season will enjoy Katie Ginger’s final novel in the Swallowtail Bay series. I chose this book because I have enjoyed a number of Katie Ginger’s previous books, and I love Christmas stories. Unfortunately, it turned out to be rather more heartrending than I prefer, though well written.

I found it really hard to like Tom to start with. I get that he’s scared, but to carry on driving and not go to the doctor after he’s had an accident that could have harmed children, just seems incredibly stupid and selfish. He does become more likeable as the story goes on. I also found Cat not terribly likeable. I think it’s just stress making her act badly, but it seems terribly selfish to refuse to involve the person she’s marrying in making decisions about their wedding - it should be about both of them! The character I really liked was Nell, she’s kind and caring, although rather unrealistic about things sometimes.

I found this story a little too stressful for my taste, I didn’t enjoy the nastiness of the Langdon Mansion Hotel, and I really don’t enjoy the parent taking over wedding planning trope. Both are things that make me feel really stressed when reading about them, and then there’s the huge emotional blow of Tom’s illness. It’s all just a bit much for me, when I was looking for a lighthearted romantic escape from the reality of life.

However, the whole book has a lovely Christmassy atmosphere. It is also very well written, the only errors I spotted were a number of excess apostrophes, particularly on plurals. However, as this is a ARC, these will most likely be removed before publication.

The last ten percent of the story was beautifully romantic, and I really enjoyed that part. It may have been too emotional for my taste, but if you like your romances heartwarming, and a little weepy, then this is the book for you. Just keep those tissues handy!

This book is perfect for fans of the Seasonal romance, and the Cornish setting adds another plus. Swallowtail Bay is a picture postcard village we’d all like to visit on holiday, and throw in a wedding, and you’ve got all the ingredients needed for a cosy Christmas read. The story line is fairly predictable, and the main characters are likeable, with the exception of the bride’s mother, making a good ‘hate’ character. This will make a great Christmas present for many readers.
