Both Lily and Henry are “damaged” in the eyes of society. His imperfections are physical in nature but hers are less obvious and they both feel unworthy of the other. This is a very unusual tale of life in the Regency/Victorian eras. While Henry’s injuries were off putting to many young ladies, he was still acceptable to society. I imagine a young woman like Lily would have been hidden away by most families. I found this to be a sweet romance between two endearing individuals.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through NetGalley and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

A sweet romance between a wounded war hero and a heroine with some issues of her own, “Garden of Hope”, by Daphne Bloom, is an enjoyable read which, despite being an historical novel, sounds often like a modern story.
Henry and Lily are a perfect match, even if they have to navigate some hurdles to find their happy ever after. I liked that they actually talked about themselves and communicated, even though sometimes their conversations seemed too present-day dialogue.
I really liked the way the author portrayed the main characters’ conditions, particularly Lily’s peculiarities. Through her point of view we watch the awkwardness, the anxiety, the problems in social interaction, the excessive straightforwardness, and how her love of gardening and Nature are her special refugee.
The heroine is also an example of single women’s degrading situation at that time.

Wonderful beautiful novel. While raw and at times gritty, this novel is not your normal fairy tale. This one is more real. Its not everyone is beautiful and without flaw. This is two people, two real people, with flaws who find companionship and friendship at a level where they dared not hope for anything before. One of the best books I have read this year.

Thank you to NetGalley and Daphne Bloom for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

A sweet and clean regency romance. A lovely story and characters. Lily and Henry were well suited for each other.

The plot seems sweet and typical enough for the time period, but there are too many anachronisms in the writing to ignore. The present-tense narration is also extremely distracting and off-putting. This story might work for a middle grade audience, but seasoned readers of Regency or Victorian historical fiction won't find much to enjoy.

Couldn’t finish. I really tried, but this story feels childish, the plot is lame, the female lead is an idiot. Checked and edited it will be a short story, no more than 100 pages. Sorry, but not worth it.

The characters in this book are just plain annoying, especially Lily's father. Everyone keeps reiterating how "weird" and "quirky" Lily is, when in fact, she's like a basic teenager who happens to love gardening. How dare women love plants, right? I also don't feel the historical romance vibe in this book. It feels more of a contemporary new adult that happens to have some historical aspect to it. The narration is also kinda off to me, because the author tells what is happening more than showing it, making me feel indifferent to the characters and the overall story.

First book by this author.
First in a series so I recommend starting with this sweet romance.
This story has likeable hero and heroine, Lily and Henry. The secondary characters are good, but wanted to smack them a few times.
This is a clean, sweet, historical romance. Don't let it deter you, it's a great read.

A very lovely book with characters you really grow to love. I'm not normally keen on books that describe actions told as though the main character is doing audio description, i.e. I ran my hands through the soil etc, as I find it ruins the flow of the reading, however I persevered and am so glad I did as the story was realistic and well told and it was nice to see an ending which actually carried on a bit instead of just in effect saying and they all lived happily ever after as soon authors have a habit of doing. I would heartedly recommend this book
