Anther fabulous book from the wonderful Nicola Morgan. I have been lucky enough to hear Nicola speak and know that she offers sound, practical advice. When I saw this book on NetGalley, I couldn't resist requesting it and was delighted to be approved for the ARC.

I was not disappointed. This is a book written in a very accessible way and directed at children and teenagers, who need to know this sort of information. I suspect a lot of it is already told to them at school, but this book is very readable and not at all patronising. I think it has value of offering good advice from a neutral voice.

Morgan offers many sensible suggestions on how to prepare for exams and keep the stress loads manageable. I liked how she offers alternatives and points out pitfalls for individuals. She is clear that one size does not fit all and I think offers many alternatives so that all young people who are studying for exams can find a working method that suits their disposition and study habits.

I plan to purchase a copy of this for my own library for those working towards 11+ or SATs, it would be even more relevant as young people get ready to sit GCSE's. I will definitely buy my daughter a copy as we approach those years and will be recommending this to all my colleagues who teach GCSE pupils. I would hope by A level exams, this advice is not necessary, but if you have a teen in your life who is feeling stressed by exams at any age, try this!!

As a teacher, I was really hoping I would be able to recommend this book to some of my students who always panic come exam time.
Unfortunately I wont be recommending this.

I found it really quite dull and dry.
The usual advice, nothing new, and not very exciting or inspiring either considering this is aimed at young people. Maybe some humour or some illustrations would have made it more enjoyable?

I don't recommend.

Excellent book jammed with concise and achievable exam preparation techniques targeted at I would suggest a predominantly GCSE level reader. Conversational language and a sensible approach to self-selecting what works for the individual, allows this book to be less regimented then many similar books.

Much of the material may be in many ways common-sense but the condensation of topics into bite sized chunks makes the book accessible and inviting, with even a recipe or two thrown in for good measure..
