A brilliant Christmas story of love, family and self confidence. This story is about a lady named Caroline whose sister Jennifer is married to Alex Delgardo, movie star. Jennifer and Alex return to Cornwall from the states with Alex’s best friend/Bodyguard Brodie.

Caroline is glad to have her sister back and everything seems good in life, that is until someone from the past reappears and turns her world upside down. Is history best left in the past and can you ever recover from past traumas?

This book is set in the beautiful area of Cornwall and really sets a scene of where the story is told.

I have never read anything by the author, however, after reading this book I will be going back and reading all her other books where you can learn more about Jennifer & Alex.

I loved the Christmas feel of the book and all the twists and turns that came along with it. The characters have many layers to them and I enjoyed slowly revealing each layer as the story went on, like your very own Christmas present.

I will definitely read more from this author, it’s definitely got me in the mood for Christmas

Thanks to Netgalley and Quercus books for a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

This is my first Beth Good book and on the whole, I enjoyed it. I have really enjoyed books I've read during this crazy time that have been set in Cornwall - perhaps because I've not been there!

A lighthearted read but not overly Christmassy - the Christmas part only really comes in the last few chapters.

This was a fun easy read but it didn't feel especially festive to me. I forgot frequently throughout that it was meant to be a Christmas book as it never really got that Christmassy feel to it. That said, I enjoyed the story and the characters. I liked the slow-burn romance and the sort of enemies to lovers vibe of uptight damaged Brodie and prickly independent Caroline as they slowly thawed towards each other each without realising the others feelings were also changing.

As always with books set in Cornwall, I loved the sense of place and the love with which is was written, it made me want to visit Cornwall again and spend time in this special place.

Overall I enjoyed it, I just didn't get the strong festive feeling that I usually find in a Christmas novel.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review

Enjoyable Escapism.....
A Christmas romance, family ties and secrets to unravel. Enjoyable escapism from Beth Good as we join Caroline in Cornwall along with her sister and family for much ado prior to the arrival of a Cornish Christmas.

Caroline Enys is stepsister to Jenny who is married to Hollywood star Alex Delgado. They return to Cornwall for a holiday which becomes a more permanent arrangement. Brodie Mattieson is Alex’s long time friend and PA and there’s quite a bit of a tension between him and Caro. When Caroline’s birth mother Topaz reappears in her life Caroline is faced with a dilemma.

First of all, the atmospheric Cornish setting is really good and there’s a good mix of characters. Caroline’s family backstory is interesting as is the relationship between her and Brodie. I like the ending of the novel which has a real feel good factor.

However, it’s on the whole rather predictable, some of the dialogue doesn’t feel right, it’s repetitive in places and there are inconsistencies with some characters emotions. It takes an awful long time to get to Christmas but once the ‘big day’ arrives it is enjoyable and makes you feel festive even in October!!

On the whole it’s an ok read, it helps a rainy day pass pleasantly and the ending certainly leaves you with a smile which has to be a good thing.

With thanks to NetGalley and Quercus Books for the arc for an honest review.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Caroline who is a midwife was so excited to see her sister in town from Los Angeles. Caroline is forced to spend time with her sisters friend Brodie and the more she does the more she likes him. This was a delightful Christmas book

Many thanks to Quercus Books for this ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Caroline is working as a midwife when step sister Jennifer turns up from LA who is married to a rich film star Alex, Jennifer finds out she is pregnant and wants her sister to work for her.

Brodie is Alex's right hand man and Alex is ready to give it all up for a quiet life.

Caroline's estranged mother turns up is it for all right reasons or because of the famous connection?

I would of liked to have read the others in the series first, but hey you can read this as a stand alone.

My first Beth Good read and I really enjoyed it, well worth picking up.

A rather misleading title as most of the book has nothing to do with Christmas. It’s only in the last few chapters that Christmas occurs and I found this the best part of the book. I enjoyed the development of Caroline and Brodie’s relationship and Brodie’s anxiety about his disability was very well portrayed. There were quite a lot of references to characters that were not in this book, which I found slightly confusing as they meant nothing to me and didn’t add anything to this story. Maybe if I’d read previous books which told the other characters’ stories it would have made more sense. However it’s still an enjoyable stand alone book although not really a Christmas story.
