Well, I think we could all do with a laugh right now, and there are some crackers in here! Great, fun cover and some awesome illustrations from Sarah Horne (who also illustrated the excellent “Charlie turns into a chicken”). I know a lot of pupils at my school will love the jokes in here, and I’d even use the lack of punctuation in the chapter introductions as a positive and possibly use it as part of a punctuation activity for the pupils to add in the punctuation before we share some jokes!

A children’s book filled with funny jokes by British comedian Matt Lucas.

To be honesty, I was expecting more from Matt Lucas. As one of Britain’s biggest comedy writers, I expected silly jokes from the mind of Matt, not jokes we have all heard time and time again. There was no original content at all. If I was a child picking this up and hearing the jokes for the first time, I’d probably think it was funny and silly. I did like the illustrations by Sarah Horne.

Thank you to Egmont Books UK for this advanced copy.

A fun joke book but I was expecting more from this, I was thinking there’d be more original material, but there wasn’t, but a fun joke book that’s sure to have everyone laughing

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I can see this book being a firm favourite!

The book has some very funny, some very silly and some very bad jokes!!

There was a great variety of topics covered too so there will be something for everyone.

I can see this being given as a Christmas present to many!

It is 4 stars from me for this one – highly recommended!!

I think I was expecting more from this and was left a little disappointed. If you're looking for an original book of comedy that will entertain children, this isn't that at all. It's full of jokes but ones that as an adult will make you cringe as you've heard them all so many times. For primary aged children, this is an enjoyable book that they will love to share with their friends and parents. I can't see it being one they'll pick up more than once. A shame because I thought it would have been more original.

The illustrations are brilliant and I loved the mini verison of Matt Lucas but the content didn't match. I'm not sure what the point of not using capital letter and punctuation was either...

I was expecting something original coming from Matt Lucas, but was left feeling highly disappointed by this book. Yes it's chock full of jokes, but none of them were original & they're what I would expect to find in a Christmas cracker! Younger children would probably find them hilarious, but for anyone 9+ I'd give it a miss. Sorry Matt, but having loved little Britain & Come fly with me I was expecting a little bit more.
