I love this author and this series but unfortunately this wasn’t my favourite book in the series. I did enjoy it but it didn’t quite match the thrill and excitement of some of the previous books.

I’m not really a fan of books where the main character gets framed, I find them a little bit predictable and mundane. Also not a fan of women being attacked or raped and not being listened too and unfortunately these two things featured in the story.

On the whole i thought that it was well written and I did enjoy the development of the characterisation of the main characters of the police force. Certain things within the story just weren’t to my taste. I’m looking forward to the next instalment.

The Whole Truth, and nothing but the truth … Well, not really, because it wouldn't be a thriller if characters weren't hiding a lot.

DI Adam Fawley, and the CID team are not only up to their ears in crime, in this – the fifth installment in the series, but their personal lives are about to collide and explode as well. Secrets that have been building and tantalizingly dangled in us readers face’s in the first four books come to a head, and things get very hairy and serious for Fawley and co. Loyalties are divided, resentments fester, anger rises to the surface, and there's a new antagonist in the police force, whom I constantly wanted to punch in the face. It doesn't help that the peacemaker of the group, DS Chris Gislington, is on holiday for the first half of the novel.

Once again Cara Hunter's inclusion of podcasts, texts, emails, voice-mails, social media group posts, notes, diagrams, and news articles added realism and variety to her writing. The sex crime storyline was an interesting twist on the usual he said/she said scenario, and highlighted the double standard, stigmatisation, and gender stereotypes that exist between male and female victims of sexual violence. I feel I should mention that there are several scenes that are fairly explicit, therefore may be too confronting for some readers – likely triggering for survivors of abuse, so approach with caution.

My recommendation is to read the series in order. And, believe me you won't be disappointed as all five books are 5-star quality. However, The Whole Truth could be read as a standalone, as there is a handy ‘Previously … in the Fawley files' guide at the start, and the plot itself does a fantastic job of explaining what's gone on before.

I'm beyond thrilled to report that the book series has been picked up for a TV series – yay! They’d better do it justice though, or they'll have me to answer to. Here's me settling in for a long wait until the release of no. 6.

Another fantastic entry to the DI Adam Fawley series. I always love hearing from all the regular characters again, and the plot of this book is thrilling, exciting and tense. It worked well having the two story lines going on. The twists and turns were fantastic and the ending great. Recommended!

I have read all the previous DI Adam Fawley and loved them all - this one is no exception! Alongside a really sinister story-line involving a case from the past involving both Fawley and his wife Alex, the book has at its core a really interesting he said/she said accusation involving the university. As with all the books in the series, this book is utterly engrossing; we care about all the characters and especially DI Fawley who remains at the heart of the book. Highly recommended.

I have loved this series from Cara and although I still enjoyed this 5th instalment I did feel it was not quite as strong as her previous books and it felt a little disjointed . However in saying this I still enjoyed it and will look forward to book 6. Thanks to the author for my advance copy

I read this in a day! It starts with a sexual assault but not as usual. This time it is a female professor on a student. The story is enhanced with tweets, podcasts and texts which bring suspense to the narrative and there are no chapters which make it difficult to put down! As usual D.I. Adam Fawley is in charge, although somewhat distracted because his wife is nearly at the end of a much wanted pregnancy. The twists and turns follow each other in quick succession including Adam himself suddenly in the frame..
I can almost guarantee that after reading this book you will want to go on and read the previous books, although each one is a stand alone. The writing is excellent and the characters believable. I thoroughly both enjoyed it and recommend it. Top story!

I love all the DI Adam Fawley series and The Whole Truth does not disappoint. The team are faced with an unusual case, a claim of sexual assault by a female professor on her male student. It's not a straightforward case and gets more complicated as Fawley's squad investigate. Who is telling the truth and what are they both lying about? Meanwhile, heavily pregnant Alex Fawley is convinced she's being watched and she knows exactly who her stalker is. She's sure that Gavin Parrie (the rapist she helped put in jail many years ago) is out for revenge. The past comes back to haunt Adam and Alex in the worst way and this time it will prove fatal for someone. There's a real sense of foreboding to this book if you love these characters like I do, great stuff! Thank you NetGalley for my advance copy.

My sincere thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author for the free book. The premise sounded interesting. A post grad male student accuses a professor of sexual assault. Meanwhile, somebody is stalking what seems to be the wife of the main investigator working the sexual assault case. Sadly, I could not connect with this story. I stopped counting characters added to the story after 20 something names. Too many characters for me to enjoy the story.

I love this series and this didn’t disappoint. It was very tense and twisty and kept me glued to my kindle, I couldn’t put it down. Very very good book, I loved it. Cara Hunter at her best. A brilliant 5 star read.

I requested this book unaware it was part of a series, so I really appreciated the recap of characters in the FBI team at the start. It made it much clearer and I felt in the loop.

I enjoyed the writing style, and found this to be an interesting novel. I'm keen go read more of the series.

I got excited to receive a copy The Whole truth by Cara Hunter. I have been following the series from the start and loved them. The author never seems to disappoint. The Whole truth is the fifth book in the series.
This time Fawley and his team investigate a student claiming sexual harassment from his tutor. Not unusual but, the student is male, and the tutor is female. Whilst the investigation unfolds with the controversy it leads to this case Di Fawley is stressed not just because of this case but also his wife Alex is nearly the end of her labour. The baby is due any day and there are complications, and she needs total bed rest.
This is another compelling thriller from the author. The story at first though was a bit slow to come together but when it did, I was hooked. The author has a unique writing style. I like how she keeps it current with the inserts of social media and whatsapp messaging. And I was at the edge of my seat to see what pans out with DI Fawley at the end of the book. 4.5 stars from me.

The Whole Truth is a good book from Cara Hunter, but I don’t think it’s one of her best.

The story revolves around a student’s complaint of sexual harassment against a tutor. It’s not a typical story by any means and is rather well done for much of its length, with some interesting discussion of issues of consent, but to say more would be too much of a spoiler. As Fawley and his team investigate, a murder is committed which introduces a second, far less believable plot thread which dominates the second half of the book. I was a little disappointed in this, in that it smacks of a slightly desperate search for a Twist to Ratchet Up The Tension; Hunter is better than that and I think this demeans her slightly.

Structurally, too, it’s not as well done as some others in the series. Hunter is still excellent on both police procedure (they do actually follow procedure!) and on press and social media responses to a story, and her characterisation is very good – especially of the regular members of Fawley’s team. However, there is more of a fragmented feel to this one, some slightly odd addressing of the reader directly and a great rush of revelation at the end which felt a bit forced.

All that said, it remains a good, involving read and a cut above a lot of stuff in this genre. Not a classic but I have rounded 3.5 stars up to 4 and I’ll certainly be continuing with the series.

Cara Hunter is definitely my favorite mystery author! She is highly under rated. I love how you connect more and more to the characters with each book and grow to love them. I also love how there are no chapters but snippets as the POV changes. It makes for fast paced and never wanting to put it down! Also having all the different layouts such as texts, tweets, notes, pod casts adds a nice touch to the reading experience. As every book could be read as a stand alone I highly recommend starting from book one.

And Cara Hunter does it again! There are no words to describe just how brilliant this book is - from the beginning to the end I was hooked and I wanted it to end but I didn’t want it to end if you know what I mean.

DI Adam Fawley is back as are his team, this time though they appears to working on a pretty strange case - a sexual assault on a student by a renowned lecturer. Meanwhile Fawley’s wife, Alex, is heavily pregnant and becoming obsessed with a series of podcasts focussing on Gavin Parrie, a man who attacked her and was convicted as the ‘Roadside Rapist’ but has since been released from prison. At the time of his conviction he swore he would wreak revenge on Fawley and his family.

I am loathed to go into any more detail on the ins and outs of the book as I don’t want to risk revealing any spoilers but it’s such a cleverly written book. Suffice to say that there are many twists and turns along the way and I found myself thinking I had sussed it out, only to be proved wrong again.

Absolutely love cara hunters books
and this one didnt disappoint. Although we have met these characters in previous stories, it is not a nesecity to have read the previous ones.

This novel follows 2 story lines. The first focuses around non consensual sex amid a high profile character.
The second follows the aftermath of Gavin parrie being released from prison. He was convicted following the rape of several women, one of whom is DI Adam fawleys wife. She is currently pregnant but petrified she is being watched.....could it be gavin back for revenge. Add to the mix, Alex's friend Emma is found dead on a railway line. What initially looks like suicide turns into a murder investigation with devastating consequences for Adam.
A fast paced book full of twists and turns. Love the way Cara writes with interview transcripts as well as newspaper articles. Easy to read but completely pulls you in. Highly recommend.

This is my first Detective Inspector Adam Fawley novel although it’s the fifth in the series.
I really enjoyed it and am definitely going to read the others.
Hunter is a good writer and her characters are well observed and she writes with humour.
In this novel, a rapist who Adam Fawley convicted has been released on license from prison.
But a podcast is investigating his possibly wrongful conviction, and Adam’s heavily pregnant wife is convinced she is being watched.
There is loads of suspense here as Adam turns from pursuer to pursued.
I’d really recommend this, whether or not you’ve read Hunter’s other novels.

Love this series read them all though this one takes a while to come together it seems very fragmented but don't give up it becomes an unable to put down book as you need to see how it all comes together in the end i really enjoyed this book looking forward to the next one!!

This follows 2 storylines - A sexual abuse scandal (This isn't too graphic for anyone concerned about triggers) and missing person/murder enquiry.

I found the college sexual abuse scandal really compelling and fast to read. We don't see too much of Adam Fawley in the first half of the book which is a shame but other characters are more than strong enough to take over and keep interest.

Adam Fawley has his own problems in the latter part of the book - I actually found this a bit unnecessary as Cara Hunter's stories are wonderful enough to hold a reader for the entirety of a book. I still enjoyed it though and gave the book a strong 4 stars.
