Meet Me at Fir Tree Lodge by Rachel Dove
Rebecca is an ex champion alpine skier turned baker when serious injury ended her perfect career. Luke is a tech geek who is staying in the lodge to have a bit of freedom after caring for his father after he suffered a stroke. Rebecca is very man shy after her accident and just keen to live the quiet life licking her wound’s getting her life back on track.
A lovely warm hearted read following two people shy Follow them trying to find romance in beautiful scenic surroundings all the makings of a hallmark story.

I feel like for the most part this was a cute easy read, but I did struggle with the pacing as it felt very instalove. Also, really did not like how like violent the male characters were? As soon as there was any conflict with the main characters ex it would automatically be everyone trying to stop them fight, like just use your words lads.

This was a really fun and perfect winter read. The chemistry between characters were humorous and really enjoyable. The romance was like a giant warm hug and what better scenery than the french alps!?

Tried reading this one and it just was not meant for me. This does not mean that it is not a good book, I just was not in the right place to be reading it and have decided to not try picking it up anytime in the near future.

This was such a fun book to read with a great sense of humor thrown into the mix along with a warm fuzzy romance set in the French Alps. An ex-skier turned baker because of an accident swears off romance until she get an unexpected room mate. Easy and quick reading, perfect for relaxing.

What a cute, endearing story. I wondered where it was going from the prologue - the level of detail and accuracy and information is just so developed, I knew it was going to be an immersive read...but would I really like it? And then Ms. Dove's humour popped in, and I was a lost case! I can't remember chuckling so much through random inserts of humour in a book before, and that was so refreshing and such a joy, it made this book just more beautiful and precious. A really nice one, with feelings, 'real' people as characters, dreamy descriptions - it's got it all!

This reminds me of a hallmark movie and I’m here for it! I loved this one... highly recommend if you are in a slump

This was such an enjoyable, heart warming read.
The setting in the Alpines was so beautifully portrayed, it was impossible to not find yourself day dreaming of the stunning surroundings.
The characters were interesting and as we learn more about their past and the difficulties they have faced, it really does give them so much depth and allows the reader to get a better understanding of them as individuals and form a connection with them.
This is an absolutely gorgeous, feel good romance that really captures your heart. I loved this story, and would certainly be looking for future books by this wonderful author.

This was a lovely read to escape into on a cold, dreary day.
I felt for Rebecca, having everything that she'd worked for stripped away, and can't blame her for hiding out in the cafe and wanting the world to pass on by.
Luke was a likeable character, always trying (too hard) to please and do things right. He was a geek, but in a loveable way.
The alpine setting was beautiful. I'm not a skier but I could appreciate the location in the Alps where this story is set, although there wasn't too much focus on the setting. It was more a background feature to the story.
I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a feel good romance.
Thanks for the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC to review.

Meet Me at Fir Tree Lodge by Rachel Dove, is a sweet romance that I enjoyed and my first book by this author. This book was easy to read and perfect for an escape from the weather or the pandemic. This book takes place in the French Alps, in snow skiing country, about Rebecca, who is rebuilding her life after a terrible ski accident. I will be reading more books by this author, I highly recommend this book if you enjoy romances.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Lovely feel good seasonal book. It was just lovely. Romantic book you dream about. Great plot and characters. Perfect for reading over the festive period. Or at any time if the year. Christmas books can be enjoyed anytime anywhere. Very well written and flowed well. Charming book to read

What a truly fab book!
What a brilliant read.
Rebecca is a baker with a backstory! She was once an alpine ski champion, now she’s licking her scars whilst managing an alpine cafe and living a dream life in the alps surrounded by her mates.
Luke is a cute ass tech nerd who lives with his Dad and has been coddled with love. His Dad has a stroke and realises Luke needs to get out into the world.
Begrudgingly he does and their paths meet.
This is a great book and an excellent read.
This is an honest review for netgalley in exchange for an arc copy.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this
Rebecca Atkins has everything she could hope for – the perfect fiancé, fabulous friends and a career as a professional skier. But when an accident on the slopes brings her crashing down in the snow with a catastrophic thud, everything changes. Her career is over, and her fiancé turns out to be, well, not so perfect.
With the chance to start afresh, Rebecca does what anyone else in her position would do… She turns to baking and manages the Alpine Bites café, nestled in the French Alps.
But when handsome stranger Luke Sommersby becomes Rebecca’s unexpected lodger, her plan to completely forget about love is thrown into jeopardy. Guarding her heart since the accident, Fir Tree Lodge is strictly a man-free-zone.
Luke is kind, caring and gorgeous, but the emotional scars from her fall still run deep, and she fights to keep the sparks catching her heart at bay.
Will Rebecca be able to find a second chance in the snow and step into a bright new future with Luke by her side?
A lovely story of empowerment on both side with a little friendship mischief thrown in. A nice story to curl up and read on a cold dark day. Some of the story is slightly confusing at the beginning but it was ok once I worked out who everyone was. Again this is a romance novel but also looks at overcoming fears opening up and communication. All in all a very enjoyable read

Another great novel by Rachel, very well written and a pleasure to curl up with. Christmas magic with everything to go with it. 5stars.
Thanks Netgalley

Firstly a big thank you to Hq for my copy to review on netgalley.
Ive been a online friend of Rachel for a while and this is only her second book of hers ive read.
This is a real winter warmer which i had the pleasure of reading on Christmas eve. Romance and hope grow as the pages turn.
Will rebecca give love a chance or is it too much pain for her? And as her past comes knocking its not a easy time.
Warm hearted, uplifting and a joy to read. A tale of love, loss , new beginnings and hope.

This was my first story by Rachel Dove, but it definitely won't be the last. There's an ease to Dove's
writing that is immediately soothing and relatable. Apart from the central romance (which was both lovely and hilarious at times), I particularly enjoyed the story of Frank and was moved to tears on more than one occasion.
Meet Me At Fir Tree Lodge was an utterly charming story about seizing life and those second chances. In short, the perfect antidote to 2020.

A comforting, romantic read where overcoming adversity is central to the plot. Enjoyable enough but didn’t quite hit the spot for me. I stuck with the book and was glad I did. The final few chapters rounded of the tale nicely.
Thank you Netgalley

This is my first book by Rachel Dove, so I really didn’t know what to expect. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised! I love her writing style, storytelling, and tone. This story was so well-written, and the characters were easy to love. It was truly a laugh out loud holiday romance that I have already recommended to several friends and family members.

This was a very well-written book filled with emotion, drama and humor. The characters were interesting and fun and the story was heartwarming and very enjoyable. This is a feel-good sweet romance story that will make you laugh and leave you satisfied. Highly recommended.

First off, the cover is absolutely gorgeous - my ideal setting! It reminds me of visiting Lapland when we were kids and looks like my dream holiday! I adore log cabins and twinkly lights in the snow - ADORE them!! So, again here's me judging a book by it's cover, but how can you not with this one?! Did you see it?? Thankfully the inside is just as wonderful as the outside!
'Meet Me at Fir Tree Lodge,' made me smile big time, not least because a few weeks ago a story popped into my head with a very similar plot - I don't write adult romance, but if I did this means me and Rachel are on the same page!! It made me laugh, like honestly, before I'd read this blurb or anything, my idea was scarily similar, stemming from me wanting to write a story about being stuck in a log cabin with Taron Egerton over Christmas!!!! :p To make it even more spooky, Rachel has a Kingsman reference in this book!!! Crazy right?!
Okay, I'll get back on track now, but the references were a big part of this book that I really enjoyed. The whole vibe of it felt very much like the way my sister Lucy writes and this is the first book I've ever compared to hers, which is a really good thing, because Lucy writes the books I want to see on the shelves, I just love her writing style! Rachel gave me those same feelings with the way she wrote and described her characters and the way in which her story played out. Their books have this way of feeling pure, heartfelt and like the author is pouring little bits of themselves into it.
The setting was stunning! Like I said before, it's my dream holiday and Rachel described it so beautifully. I could picture the café where Rebecca worked, I could imagine the slopes, the glistening snow and the style of the cabins - eek it makes me so happy just thinking about it!! I would visit in a heartbeat! Not to mention the delicious food that was described every time Rachel baked. I most definitely want to pull up a stool at the counter to wrap my hands around a coffee, munch on a croissant and stare at the snowy mountains - bliss!!!
The characters I connected to straight away. I felt for Rebecca and what she'd been through, but was glad to see that she still had her old self lurking inside her. She was very down when I first met her, which made me sad, but then slowly as she found herself, thanks to Luke, I was like yay! I wanted to see her happy and enjoying life again. As for Luke, well he was wonderful. Everything about him made me smile from his awkwardness, to his clumsiness to his ability to be charming without realising! He was every bit Clark Kent and I loved him for it. The journey he was on was also heart-warming to read and I think Rachel connected him and Rebecca together so well. I don't want to give the whole story away, but it was a genuinely warm and lovely one!
The best friend characters also made for quick page turning action and plenty of laugh out loud moments. Holly was a delight and knew Rebecca so well and Han's was perfect as a giant of a man who managed to get away with his sneaky set ups and mischievousness. I loved them both and would definitely read a book about the two of them and their story!
In conclusion, I feel that this review has exceeded my explanation mark limit, but I hope that just shows how much I enjoyed 'Meet Me at Fir Tree Lodge.' Every aspect warmed my heart and made me giggle. It's a beautiful story, with a great cast of characters in an idyllic setting. I highly, highly recommend it if you need to stock up your festive read lists!
