While one of the things that really makes it the holiday season for me is reading christmassy rom coms, even I draw the line with how unrealistic the story can be before I stop enjoying it. There were times early on in the book I thought the story line was going down a ridiculous path and that I would have to abandon it but then all of a sudden the author grabbed the reins and pulled the story In a different direction which left me loving the book! The grinchy one liners and fun banter between the characters had me laughing and making notes to use those jokes in real life. The only thing I would change is having the author try to find some different adjectives than “snort” , “left crescent moon shapes in my palms” and a few other overly repetitive words. All in all, it was a cute easy read that really emphasizes the true meaning of Christmas.
I voluntarily read this book and these thoughts and opinions are of my own.

I loved the concept of this book, the nutcracker brings such joy at Christmas. I found myself hoping that the magic of the nutcracker would be true and that he had come alive. It is true but in the way of a human heart being slowly thawed and unfurled to the delights of Christmas, but not in a cheesy way. The way that Nia shows James what Christmas means by showing kindness is pure joy and just what is needed this year.

This was the first Jaimie Admans book that I’ve read and I’ve going to be blatantly honest and say that it didn’t blow me away. I felt that you really had to be quite obsessed with Nutcrackers to fully understand Nia’s love for the wooden decorations.

Some parts of the book felt forced, and dragged out – and I cringed when Nia kept talking to herself saying on several occasions that she wanted to hug James, but she held back as she didn’t know him well enough, even though they’d spent the evening together and he fell asleep on her sofa. That didn’t feel right to me – especially as she came across to me as a warm, huggy type of character.

I didn’t understand quite what Nutcracker Lane was – there were times when in my head I was thinking it was like a Christmas Market, or The Lanes in Brighton and other times I thought it was like an indoor market but I wasn’t too sure.

Also, it was a very predictable story, as soon as James’s character appeared I knew where it was going to go and who he was – although I had to wait until 82% of the book, to be told.

Saying all that (sorry for the negativity!) once the story got going it was an enjoyable read. It was well told, and I loved all the references to Christmases gone by…the foil decorations, the board games and traditions all made me smile.

And now…wherever I go at the moment, my eyes are drawn to nutcrackers whereas before I never really noticed them, and you know what? I might actually buy myself one this year…but not a six foot version!!

This book just oozes Christmas from every page. It conjures up gorgeous festive images and a lovely cosy feeling and hot chocolate to boot. The perfect Christmas book to curl up with this year.
Nia finally gets a spot to open her Christmas shop on Nutcracker Lane and is really disappointed to find another festive store opening opposite hers.
She remembers her childhood memories of Nutcracker Lane and is determined to see it sparkle and shone again, despite the owner seeming to want to put all the owners at war with each other.
Nia has a soft spot for Nutcracker soldiers and Christmas jumpers .
When she meets James, the owner of the all singing christmas store, he seems to be a real grinch, waiting for his stint at the store to be over. She befriends him and tries to instil a bit of christmas magic and it's lovely to see him making an effort to Christmas up.
It really is a wonderful story of childhood memories, christmas magic and romance alongside a real life christmas village. What more could you ask for?

The Little Christmas Shop on Nutcracker Lane by Jamie Admans.
Nia loves Christmas and has always dreamt of opening a shop on Nutcracker Lane. This year her little shop selling homemade Christmas decorations is open. A shop across the Lane from her also opens selling Christmas decorations. Nia decides to take a peek, but after knocking over the 6ft Nutcracker in front of the shop and breaking its arm, Nia is promptly introduced to James. James, the shop's owner, is also nursing a broken arm, for a brief moment, Nia imagines that James is the Nutcracker.
Enjoy discovering whether James is a nutcracker who comes to life, or something even more extraordinary!
The story carries us to the Christmas world of Nutcracker Lane, and Nia's determination to save the Lane from re-development.
I relished how Nia works with James and the rest of the shop keepers to try and save Nutcracker Lane from closure.
I love the thought of there being a real Christmas Tree Farm, somewhere in Wales.
A well-written, magical festive read with times of deep sadness to moments of pure happiness, you will find both in this engaging story.

Lovely story to leave you feeling all Christmassy. Made me want to visit at Christmas Market and buy a Nutcracker. Also had a bit of fairytale in there with a lovely prince. If you want a heart warming story to give you a Christmas glow you won’t be disappointed

At first I wasn’t sure ‘The Little Christmas Shop on Nutcracker Lane’ was for me. I found all the times ‘laughing’ and ‘snorting’ was mentioned annoying. But, please stick with it, I’m so glad I did. This is such a lovely story. It’s a totally obvious plot, but that doesn’t stop it being just a really lovely read. The characters are so loveable, especially James. I found myself smiling (or at times crying) while following their story. I’d certainly read more from this author and I’m so glad this was my first festive story of the year.

Funny, romantic and nostalgic twist on A Christmas Carol with a touch of Nutcracker thrown in for good measure and I loved it. It was cleverly written and perfect for the time of year

I hadn’t heard anything about this book or the author so I was quite apprehensive but I was completely wrong. I loved it. I felt like I was there & wanted to join in on all the magic, it was so beautifully written. I don’t often read books like this as often but it took me back to the soppy, romantic books I loved as a teen.

James, I mean he literally stole my heart. I truly believed in him all along! His connection with Nia was amazing. Nia and Stacey (another fellow stacey, seen a few in books recently) have the best friendship and it’s so lovely. The whole story behind Nutcracker Lane is soo beautiful it definitely would be a magic place.

The book definitely gave me all the fuzzy feels, there was a part where I was shouting ‘NoOo’ but it definitely didn’t last and I thought I was beautiful. The ending was perfect & literally ended it so well. I also need to get a Nutcracker for Xmas.

What an absolute magical journey I have been on with Nia and James.
What a beautiful story. I'm a sucker for Jaimie Admans books after reading The little book shop of love stories which was my favourite read of the year.
This book certainly didn't let me down. I love it when a romance/chick lit/lighthearted read has more to the sp
Tory than boy meets girl and fall in love. Jaimie does this brilliantly. I love how she has a depth to her books also keeping the humour in there too.
All in all would highly recommend this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers and the author Jaimie Admans for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review

A delightful and well written Christmas romance. Very good story. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.

Jaimie Admans’ holiday romance, The Little Christmas Shop on Nutcracker Lane, is the epitome of joy, laughter, and Christmas magic.

Nia Maddison has always dreamed of running a shop on Nutcracker Lane. Now, her dream has finally come true, but it’s not turning out to be the experience she longed for. But things start to change when she makes a wish on the Lane’s famous magical nutcracker...

I adored Nia and her blend of perseverance, passion and desire to help. Her plan to rid James of his Grinch-like tendencies was incredibly entertaining to read about and certainly had the Christmas effect on me! I would love to visit Nutcracker Lane, especially Carmen's chocolate shop and it would be wonderful to have a Nia as a friend.

Jaimie Admans’ writing was dreamy and sublime, making this novel a rewarding reading experience and I was really impressed by her. The Little Christmas Shop on Nutcracker Lane, is my second book by this immensely talented author and I will be catching up with more of her back catalogue as well as keeping an eye out for her next novel. A captivating and delightful Yuletide read that I highly recommend.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from HQ Digital via NetGalley at my request and this review is my own unbiased opinion.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I have adored every book Jaimie has written and wasn’t disappointed with this one either.

So it seems, Nia has just about given up on men. She feels that they don't seem to know how to behave themselves.

As. Christmas is her favourite time of the year, as well as having a special place in her heart for nutcrackers.

So. will the nutcracker she has knocked down and broken, in the shop of James, who looks like a nutcracker come to life now ruin things for her? Or is her imagination playing tricks on her?

What a heart-warming, romantic story.

I so wanted to go and visit this Nutcracker Lane of Nia's though!.

Recommend it.

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and Netgalley for trusting me with an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Mia Maddison has always believed that wishes come true on Nutcracker Lane. So, when she gets the opportunity to run her own Christmas gift on the most magical street in town, it feels like her wishes have been finally a granted. However, she will come to find out that it takes more than that for a wish to be granted.
I absolutely loved this book. It had everything that a Christmas book should. There were amazing characters inside these pages, and it was so beautifully written I felt like I know them. I am not going to say much more as it would surely ruin such a magical book.

I love Christmas and am sad that due to the pandemic it will change the way it’s meant to be, however, this little gem of a book will take you into their Christmas and that will make it more magical.

This is a sweet Christmas book about a small village of Christmas stores that has seen better days. It was a cute romance and has a stunning cover. I didn't like the part about the "nutcracker possibly coming to life, but all in all it was a good story.

Whilst I loved this , I felt that it was identical to The Little Bookshop and therefore was very predictable, and I guessed the ending after a chapter or two. A lovely Xmas ready, but read on its own and not after reading The Little Bookshop.

This book does exactly what it says on the cover. It provides festive Christmas warmth and cheer in abundance!

Nia hasn’t had it easy, but is following her dreams (that mostly involve the festive season). She has the kind of childlike excitement and faith in humanity that we lose as adults, but that always manages to kind it’s way back, even in the smallest of quantities at Christmas, and this books helps you along.

The author has the knack, through their writing of transporting you straight under the twinkling lights of Nutcracker Lane. You become completely invested in the characters, but also in the Lane itself. Admans paints one of those places that we all remember as a child, and only wish we could see again.

“Anyone, at any age, should look up to the sky on Christmas Eve night and hope they’ll see something magical.”

Yes, there is romance in this book (it is Christmas after all), but I feel like that’s not the ‘point’ of the book. The point, for me, is seeing Christmas as a child again and saving what makes it important.

I thought it was going to be a predictable read, and honestly, for the first 4 chapters I thought the entire plot had been taken from the 2018 film, ‘A Very Nutty Christmas‘. I’m glad to say I was wrong though.

This book deserves a sequel and I sincerely hope Admans takes us back to Nutcracker Lane next year.
