At last – Libby Sarjeant is back and Murder on the Edge was worth the wait! When it is discovered that Nick Nash has plunged to his death from a cliff it is assumed to be an accidental death. However, it soon becomes clear that it was murder; Libby investigates, along with friends from Steeple Martin.
If you enjoy spending time with some great and entertaining characters while trying to work out who dunnit and why they diddit, this is the book for you. It has a strong plot that will keep you on your toes as you spend time in a delightful (albeit dangerous) part of the English countryside where all is definitely not as it seems.

Fatal Accident Or Murder......?
Libby Sarjeant is back! When Libby is asked to help investigate what appears to be a fatal accident she is more than reticent. Enjoyable cosy mystery in an idyllic setting with a likeable protagonist and a colourful cast of supporting characters. Engaging plot with red herrings aplenty, a clutch of suspects and a satisfying conclusion. Part of a long running series but can happily be read as a standalone. A worthy addition to the series.

Murder on the Edge is the twenty-first full-length instalment in the Libby Sarjeant Murder Mystery series and a great addition to the cosy genre. It isn't necessary to have read any of the preceding books as each one has a self-contained story, although if you dive in from here you will miss a lot of central figure Libby's backstory and development. Local man Colin Hardcastle has set up a meeting between an acquaintance and Nick Nash in order to discuss and further the possible sale of Nash's house, but when Nash doesn't go through with the meet they are both a little baffled. A short time later, it appears he has plunged to his death over the edge of a cliff near the village of St Aldeberge as his corpse is discovered; those who learn of the tragedy assume death by misadventure, including Libby, who isn't comfortable investigating what is seemingly an accidental death. But when Nash's untimely passing is confirmed as a murder, Libby is asked by nervous villagers if she can find out what happened, which, of course, she does, with the help of Fran Wolfe, vicar Patti Pearson and the regulars in Steeple Martin.

This is a superb cosy mystery with more bite and grit than usual but still maintaining the cosy feeling; we still are presented with the chocolate-box village and countryside location. In my mind, it was exactly like the villages in Midsomer Murders: quaint and typical of England. It's simply the perfect book to escape from the troubles of the world and inhabit someone else's even for a few hours. Libby is a great character who is a force for good in her community and she illustrates just how much of an effective sleuthing brain she has too. As Libby and her sleuthing sidekicks become ever more involved in investigating they are soon discovering huge secrets and revelations regarding Nash's nefarious past. This is a fun, fast-paced, easy read with an enjoyable and entertaining plot, a good cast of characters and a number of suspects with motives, plenty of red herrings, twists and reveals. A delightful cosy that has a satisfying conclusion and if you like the solid, usual format of cosies in general then this will be something you may want to pick up. Highly recommended. Many thanks to Headline Accent for an ARC.

Colin Hardcastle has arranged for a friend to meet Nick Nash to discuss the prospective sale of Nash's house, but Nash doesn't turn up. When his body is found at the foot of the cliffs, it appears to be a tragic accident.

When murder is confirmed, Libby Sarjeant and the rest of the Steeple Martin community become embroiled in the revelations about Nash's unpleasant past

Another great addition to the series
