I really enjoyed this domestic drama. KL Slater is an outstanding writer, and I love her books. It started slowly for me, but soon I found myself very invested in the story. I found the female character to be written as very gullible and not very smart, which annoyed me. Overall, it was a decent read.

The girl she wanted by K L Slater is another intriguing, psychological thriller by the author, who once agains keeps her readers entertained and mesmerised by her twists and turns to the storyline.
I listened to and also read the story and found it a fascinating story of a nurse who could be guilty of murdering her patients and no-one realised. It reminds readers of the Lucy Letby trial in Stockport, Manchester when a nurse was found guilty of causing patients deaths.
Highly recommended

A fast moving intense read
The story is told through multiple POVs which makes it fast paced.
The book had a great twist at the end. I was shocked

I'm a huge fan of K. L Slater. She never disappoints. I throughly enjoyed this one. It was full of twists and turns. You never really knew what was real and who was telling the truth. The only thing is that after the truth came to light it felt like there should be more. I kept expecting another twist at the end. Even with that it was a great read.

I feel like this author can do no wrong as there are always clever plot lines, plenty of drama and suspense and this was no different. There were some great twists which I didn’t see coming.

Another great read from the author. A very good plot that keeps you guessing. Loved the twists and was genuinely surprised.

This was a fast paced story and I found myself intrigued throughout. I finished in 2 days and couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next!
I loved the way the author released a little new information throughout the chapters so you never really knew where the story was heading and I found myself surprised a few times.

Brilliant, a roller coaster ride of a book.
Alexa and Carrie are sisters, they are close and currently Carrie is living with Alexa, her husband Perry and their daughter Florence.
It’s clear from the off that something big happened Alexa a couple of years ago, but the reader is gently teased with snippets of information right up to the end of the book.
Carrie is called into the A&E department where she is the senior ward nurse, there has been an accusation of foul play in two recent deaths.
From here, their lives spiral out of control, but each person we meet has a secret to keep.
Really really enjoyed this, kept me guessing til the end.

Even though I bought myself a physical copy of this book, I would still like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I am a massive fan of K.L. Slater's book, but honestly this one was just rather average. It wasn't terrible, but at the same time, it just didn't compare to most of this author's compelling reads. The story flowed at a steady pace, but for me I just couldn't massively connect with any of the characters. Carrie was a character that didn't really show any emotion, other then rage at others, while Alexa seemed scared of everything, but there wasn't a massively believable reason why. She had a past tragedy but that didn't explain why she struggled to be with her daughter on her outside??

I never got bored or uninterested, but I also never really felt any strong emotions about the story either. It's certainly not the worst book I've read, but it's definitely not the best.

K. L. Slater never disappoints and this book is no exception to that. It was for me a slower start than usual but it definitely grew on me. Family allegiances, buried secrets and slow burning revenge.
Great twisty turny plot and a villain I never spotted

The Girl She Wanted by K. L. Slater was a fab, fab book. I was hooked in from the first few pages and read in one sitting. So many twists and turns throughout. This story centres on two sisters and their close bond until one betrays the other….. with a deserving end.

The Girl She Wanted KL Slater
I loved this book. I didn't know what to believe as I was reading, and felt compelled to keep turning to pages to work it all out. I had a few theories going and none turned out correct.
I enjoyed the dynamic between the two sisters, and enjoyed the seeds of doubt planted along the way.

While I enjoyed the overall storyline of this book, the beginning was a bit dense and it took a bit for me to really get into and care about the characters.

Alexa is struggling as a new mother, especially with her husband away for long stretches of time at work, so after her big sister Carrie splits up from her own husband, it seems like a great idea for Carrie to move in to help out when she's not working at the hospital as a supervising nurse. Then, two patients die under questionable circumstances, and Carrie is accused and arrested for their murder.

While I felt for Alexa (kind of,) Carrie was painted as fairly cool and calculated from the beginning, and Alexa's husband is just kind of there (but only sometimes.) I wanted it all to work out for them, but the ending came out of left field (and I'm no sure if that was really a good thing in this case,) and all the other twists and turns weren't as surprising as they should have been for a really good, can't-put-it-down thriller.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. It has not influenced my opinion.

Loved this sad book. Very compulsive reading. Full of emotion. Will definitely look for more books by this author. I read this one in one day, finding it hard to follow. Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc.

I loved this book, it has a great plot with some interesting and strong characters. It was an awesome read despite being a little tedious in places, it makes you stressed at times and you feel part of the story. it makes you question your relationship with your own siblings, would you trust as much as Alexa trusts Carrie? could you be as sure as she is of her innocence, even when your husband is against you?
the story is told from different perspectives which I enjoyed. The characters were strong and well developed but I felt like I could have connected with them better. The plot has many twists and turns and holds your interest well. , I was quickly hooked and turning the pages as fast as possible, where it built up a good tension before a good ending, which I especially liked for Alexa.
Another great book from K.L. Slater!

This book is told by multiple characters. K L Slater is one of my favourite authors so I knew she wouldnt disappoint. Its not my favourite written by her, but I still really liked it. It starts off a bit slow but dont worry you will still love it.

The Girl She Wanted is the first book I've read by K L Slater and it was an enjoyable psychological thriller. It is the story of Carrie, who is a senior nurse who currently lives with her sister - Alexa and her husband as Alexa is struggling to cope with her one year old daughter and Carrie has recently split from her husband. After a couple of unexplained deaths at the hospital Carrie gets reported by a junior Doctor and investigated, but then Carrie is suspended from her job and things get more difficult.

I didn't really relate to the characters that well at first and felt they were a bit wishywashy, It took a while for the book to explain the background to Carrie, which I think if had come much earlier in the book, it would have helped me to understand her better, but it all made sense in the end and I did enjoy it.. I will definitely read more by this author and I liked the narrative from different characters points of view.

I was also a bit puzzled by the title as I cant see how it relates to the storyline.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to review this book. .

This is a fast paced. book that had me engaged from the beginning. An easy read with a few twists and turns. It was a good thriller but I didn't quite connect with the characters as much as I wanted to at times. I realise that is just my personal take on the story but overall a good and enjoyable read.

Thank you Netgalley.
