A remarkable first novel which takes us back to 1965, when even the Hero had to walk to a telephone box to keep in touch with HQ. I could hardly wait to find out the final plot-twist. A truly memorable story.

Love and mystery and the European Fraud Prevention Office? It’s an odd premise but stick with it - this book offers a great, tangled mystery with a romance to boot! The characters are really engaging and the complex interconnections over time add to the sense of intrigue.

The reunion of two lovers after a breakup years ago due to unforeseen circumstances. Charlotte has a secret she has kept from Jules. I enjoyed this one, as it was a great read.

I am reviewing a copy of The Burden of Guilt in through BooksGoSocil and Netgalley:

Jules and Charolette are thrown together unexpectedly through the European Fraud Prevention Office in 1965. They have seen one another since their break-up, will they survive the emotional turmoil of regret, guilt and hope that ensues?

What is the secret Charlotte believes will destroy the love Jules still has for her? In contrast, his superior, Smythe, embarks on a journey of love he had thought impossible.

Their relationships unfold against the backdrop of an investigation prompted by Smythe’s distrust of Fawkes, the new Head of the EFPO. Why does Fawkes want a file on ‘The Monument Men’ archived?

What happened to Charlotte’s father? Did he really steal artifacts during the Second World War.

What connects the 1936 Berlin Olympics with a ship bound for Gloucester docks?

I give The Burden of Guilt five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!
