Scottie and Tanzy are two rescue cats who live with their human Jamie, who loves them, and Jamie's girlfriend Lisa, who hates them. Alley, Jamie's daughter's kitten, joins the family.
The story begins when Scottie overhears Lisa planning Jamie's murder to keep his money and his assets. From that moment on, the three clever kittens do everything in their little paws to save Jamie's life.
In this story, the only intelligent and thinking beings are the cats and Lisa, the evil bride. Jamie is blinded by his love for Lisa and the other human character, Bruce, is a hopeless idiot.
The only thing that makes Jamie a little likable is the love he feels for his cats, which he, by the way, adopted from the local SPCA.
I thank the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
The opinion I have expressed above is based solely on what I think and feel about this book.

This cute shorter cozy is book 1 in a new series. The cats are the main characters that must save their human from a sinister murder plot. Jamie's new "girlfriend" is after his money and the cats overhear her plan to kill him off since he's changing his will. Scottie, his cat must save the day with the very reluctant help of his cat friend who could care less about humans. I enjoy books where the pet narrates the book and this is a good intro for a new series. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I am such a crazy cat lady that i really enjoyed this even though i`m not too fond of mystery and some thrillers, but this one was sort of charming and i adored that the cats were the main characters.

I loved this funny, quirky cat story. It was a delight from start to finish. It's a short book and I was left wanting more. Will be looking out for the next feline Crime Caper.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

The writing was occasionally good, with a few genuinely humorous moments and some highly quotable lines. Cat Behind The Curtain was a solid, enjoyable story if somewhat predictable.

Highly recommended for cat lovers who crave a good mystery.

This is so charming and such a fun read ! This is the debut in the new cat cozy series "Cozy Cat Thriller " series by author and cat lover Peter Scottsdale. This is a engaging fun read that I recommend for all of us that are owned by our cats and love all things cat.

This is told from the perspective of the cat as the protagnist. Scottie is a 8 year old cat who has a pet parent named Jamie. Jamie has a criminal girlfriend unknown to him who plots to kill him with her boyfriend. Jamie has no idea and Scottie must find a way to communicate to Jamie he is in danger while he stops the crime. .He has two other cat companions but they are true cats in nature and not wanting to help. He finds his bravery to stop the evil plot and save his owner .

This is a very cleverly done mystery that was fun to read and had great antics by all the cats. The author clearly knows cats and he writes of them so well that you feel you know these cats. I loved it !!! Review cross posted.

I had to stop reading this one, unfortunately. I can see from other reviews I am an outlier.

I love the premise, and I have actually read a book from the POV of a cat before. Not a sentence I thought I would say.

One of my book pet hates is bad dialogue and unfortunately I just couldn't get on with the dialogue at all in this book. It didn't feel natural. I tried to push through it because I thought it might be the ways the cats were speaking, but it seems the humans were unable to flow either.

Sorry!

At first, I wasn't sure I could complete this book because there is one character in it who is very mean to cats. But, I persevered and was glad I did. It's written from the perspective of one of the cats, and gives a pretty accurate view from the cat's eye (well, as best we humans know, anyway!) It's a very simple plot and a very quick read, but quite entertaining.

Chose this book because it looked cute and I really fancied a cute story and this book really ticked the boxes. Interesting idea with the stars of the drama being the cats, and boy were these cats feisty and with cattitude and a great love for their owner, well the jury is kinda still out with Tanzy, but thats Tanzy for you. The story is simple they are protecting their owner from his awful girlfriend and boo hiss a cat hater, so reading her downfall ended with cheers in this household. My only disappointment was that the ending was a little too fast to be tied up but I loved it anyway, and looking forward to the next book in the series. Bravo and if you fancy a good and cutesy read I recommend this totally 👌

A sweet short read that had me smiling. The author knows his cats. I was rooting for Scottie the entire time. Tansy reminds me of my present cat who doesn't suffer fools. She and Tansy have a lot in common. Brave Scottie is determined to save his beloved human. Sweet story. Great read.

This was a short snippet of a book. Jamie owns three cats, and the lead cat, Scottie, is scared when he hears Jamie's girlfriend telling another that she wants to kill him and inherit his money and house. He encourages the other two cats to join him in foiling her plan, and they join in, with mixed enthusiasm. Scottie is afraid of going back to the SPCA and is desperate to stop the evil girlfriend and her "brother" (boyfriend).

This was a cute read. I wish cats could understand us.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy.

Scottie is one of two cats rescued from the SPCA by Jamie. When Scottie hears Jamie's girlfriend plan his murder, he knows he must do something. Can he get Tanzy to cooperate and help her rescuer, too?
"The Cat Behind The Curtain" is a fun cozy mystery. The cats certainly do have personality and each plays a unique role in protecting their human. With a mix of cat facts and humor, Peter Scottsdale weaves a story that's entertaining and fun. I only gave the book 3 stars instead of 4 because the flow is choppy in places and sometimes repetitive.

I was in need of a quick cozy mystery to read and this fit the ticket. Written from the perspective of one of the cats, this is a humorous story. The personalities of each of the cats was fitting for their breed. This book will appeal to cat and cozy mystery lovers.

I did have fun reading the extended short story/novella? The Cat Behind the Curtain. It was unique and had a lot of potential, but is missing a few key elements.
Jamie's girlfriend is plotting his murder, the only "person" who knows about it is his cat Scottie. The antics of Scottie and crew trying to stop the murder were very entertaining. Clever moments from the cats point of view. The plot is simple but it was fun nonetheless.

There is a bit of room for improvement. For such a short book there was lots of repetition, one area in particular is a near carbon copy of an earlier chapter. Lots of room for character development of the humans, Jamie has a daughter in college yet acts like he is in college himself. Lisa, the girlfriend, lacks any amount of character at all - hard to imagine anyone dating her.

If you have a cat, you will get at least a laugh or two out of this because of the cat behavior. Thanks to Net Galley and the author for this copy to read and review.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Cheers for Scottie, a brave, loyal and intrepid kitty who owns Jamie. It is a good thing Tanzy and Alley are both feline members of his household because Jamie is not the brightest bulb on two legs. In fact, early in the book, I was getting frustrated with how dense he truly was. Not only did he miss the character flaws in his fiancé, Lisa, he was unaware of her manipulations.

That would have been bad enough but there is worse. She hates cats, especially Jamie’s three and she is trying to kill Jamie for his money and will kill the cats afterwards. Scottie cannot get through to Jamie it seems and Jamie is no Mensa candidate. It is up to Scottie to convince his two female felines to help him thwart the evil deed. What is a cat to do? Turns out quite a lot.

You will thrill to the suspense of the close calls and enjoy as the kitties deal out the well earned comeuppance. Jamie is safe with these three on the job. Five purrs and two paws up;

The book is a lovely quick read, with loads of jokes (you will def understand if you have pets). When I finished reading I cuddled with both my cats. And hope they save me if someone ever wants to kill me.
The book made me want to read more of Peter's work.
