I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

A fun romantic comedy.
The descriptions of Paris were swoon worthy.
I found the main character annoying to start with be she grew on me as the book went on.

I thought this was a very solid debut novel!

I really enjoyed the setting of the Paris and seeing in real time the relationship between Leo and Hannah blossom. I was a little uncomfortable with the fact that Hannah had a boyfriend and I didn't enjoy the ending but the main bulk of the book was great and I will definitely seek out more from the author in the future

i absolutely love books set in Paris and that is definitely why I picked up this book but honestly this book just bored me. I could not get into this book at all. I could not connect with the characters or root for the relationship in this book, so there was nothing for me to connect with this book to enjoy it. The writing was also not my favourite thing ever. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed that I could not enjoy this book more but glad I read it.

** spoiler alert ** Need to start by saying this is NOT a romance - actually, the whole story takes place over a day/48 hours tops, I'd say, so to have a heroine already with someone, get separated geographically from said boyfriend, meet a new guy in Paris...and fall for him right away (while still in a couple) would not have been a romance heroine, nor someone a romance lover would really get behind.
That being said and out of the way, when you read it as a sort of coming-of-age story, of a woman coming into her own, facing her past, her shadows, the depths of her heart, all while strolling around Paris during one day accompanied by a man who knows himself and isn't afraid to push her to face her fears and all those closed doors in her heart? Then yes, it is a very good read which takes you on a journey both through Paris and through Hannah growing/coming into her own along the way. I really enjoyed this part of the book, even though I was tempted to give up quite a few times because Hannah was borderline insufferable at times (seriously, the scene in the train station in Paris? Almost did me in... but then when you really ponder where Hannah is in her mindset at that stage, well, it's understandable then) Leo was no piece of cake, either...but he didn't have to be, as he was the voice of 'reason' in Hannah awakening and he played that part really well.
It did take a bit long to get to the culmination which happens really at the end of the book, but take this book as a lazy stroll along Paris, with Hannah, and you'll be set for a good time

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the EARC in exchange for an honest review.
After a mishap that led to Hannah and her fiancé Simon ending up in different cities, Hannah meets mysterious bad boy Leo on the way to Amsterdam.
Although I was looking forward to this romantic story, I mean it was meant to be set in Paris for a bit after all, I was rather disappointed.
The series of events between Hannah and stranger Leo was meant to lead to possible romance and Hannah questioning her relationship with Simon but I found that there was a lack of chemistry between them and so could not imagine them together romantically. Hannah came across as annoying and so I couldn’t be rooting for a happy ending for her.
Leo was wanting to be the mysterious bad boy but came a cross as a moody teenager.
Others may find this exactly as described but I found it lacking.

As much as I love a romance and chick lit, I didn't enjoy this one unfortunately. It didn't ring true, the characters seems unrealistic and under developed and overall I was left quite unsatisfied. Although I was grateful to be given the opportunity to read this book for an honest review (sorry it's too honest! )

The best way I feel im able to describe this book as is a soppy romcom that you put on when youre having a girly self care day. The story might seem a tiny but daft and unrealistic but it didnt take away from the fact I felt like I was snuggled up on the sofa in a face mask with a glass of wine every time I was reading it. Its a really funny and sweet book and because of that I could see it as a film.

I enjoyed Browns easy to get on with writing and I enjoyed her characters, particularly development the of our main character Hannah.

And beautifully set for the most part in Paris, theres very little not to enjoy. Brown perfectly captures aspects of Paris that its made me want to visit again sooner rather than later.

Its defo work curling up with if you need something low key and easy to read.

I really enjoyed this. Original and romantic with a sexy hero, glorious descriptions of Paris, and a down-to-eart heroine you can’t help but root for.

✨Ahh I LOVED this book so much! I read it last weekend in 1 whole day and I just never wanted it to end.

If you love the movie Before Sunset (my favourite) then this book is what your life very much needs!

It’s set in Paris and is so visually stunning in its descriptions (although not too much as I can’t handle that, it’s just perfectly balanced) that you feel like your ‘watching’ the story rather than reading it, if that makes sense!

I can’t say anymore or I will be writing this caption and raving about it all night. Just know that I loved, loved, loved it and if you like a little bit of forced close proximity, road trip(ish) and enemies to lovers then pick this dreamy romcom up!

I can not wait to read more from the author, she is definitely a brand new favourite of mine❤️❤️❤️

Here’s the blurb...
“Hannah and Si are in love and on the same track - that is, until their train divides on the way to a wedding. The next morning, Hannah wakes up in Paris and realises that her boyfriend (and her ticket) are 300 miles away in Amsterdam!

But then Hannah meets Léo on the station platform, and he's everything Si isn't. Spending the day with him in Paris forces Hannah to question how well she really knows herself - and whether, sometimes, you need to go in the wrong direction to find everything you've been looking for...”

What happens when you travel by train and you end up in Paris instead of Amsterdam?

I truly enjoyed Uncoupling, the construction and development of the characters and the sort of coming of age make it a very enjoyable read.
A joyful novel about change, self discovery and about creating a new version of yourself.

Have you ever felt that you wake up with bad luck? That things keep getting worse and worse no matter what you do?
Hannah and Si seem to be the perfect couple, they have planned a romantic trip in Italy, with its ending being Si sister’s wedding. But the last night in Italy fate makes them take different paths and the next morning they will awake in different parts of Italy. Will they meet before the wedding or fate will keep them separate forever?
This is a trip of self-discovery and landscaping through Italy, because now that traveling is becoming quite impossible, who doesn’t love visiting places with their imagination?
I’ll say from the beginning that I didn’t like much Si, too self-centered and bossy while Hannah seems to be in love with being in love. But this is how the story wants to be, to make Hannah realize that if you don’t have to change to be with the person you love, they have to like you the way you are!
I’ll admit that I read this book in just one sit, it was easy to fell in love with the story and the landscape; the characters and their lives. Reading this book made me realize about how easy is sometimes to ignore the internal doubts and alarms; because it’s easier to let things the way they are instead of trying to change them. Because change means instability, at least for a while, and no one likes the uncertain, we like easy and peaceful.
Uncoupling has been a very interesting trip, like a train full of emotions and adventures which kept me turning pages till the end. Ready for it?

Hannah and Si are on their way to Si’s sister’s wedding in Amsterdam. After a bumpy start to their journey, they manage to get seated, but it is noisy and Hannah decides to move further down the carriage to try and get some rest ahead of all her jobs she has to do at the wedding the next day. However, the train uncouples during the night and Hannah ends up in Paris with a complete stranger, Leo, who was also headed to Amsterdam on an equally important task.
As they have hours to kill, Hannah and Leo visit some sights while they wait for the next train. But as Hannah starts to unwind, she starts to realise just how tightly wound she had been, and she has lost herself in trying to create the stereotypical perfect life.
Perfect read during lockdown, transporting me to places I wish I could go but the description was so beautiful I felt like I was there.

Hannah and her boyfriend Si have spent a romanticv weekend in Venice and now they are on a train to Amsterdam where Si’s sister is getting married. Hannah suspects that Si about to propose to her and it is everything she has ever dreamt about – to have a family, hudband, kids… But is it really? After being separated on a train, Hannah finds herself stranded in Paris, with no money, no clothes and also having lost her mobile. Can the handsome starnegr Leo help her get to Amsterdam on time? Or perhaps is he going to make her think and change her life for ever?

So, my lovely bookish friends, and again I’ve stumbled upon a book that looked and sounded brilliantly promising and having keeping hearing so good things about it I was sure it will be a gem. It wasn’t. Already the beginning made me feel a bit panic as the relationship between Hannah and Si was all but nice. And that was only the beginning. Then the thing with the train happened and a slowly and painful journey began. I had to check more than once if I’m reading fiction or perhaps Paris travel guide – there was so much sight – seeing, and yes, those were perhaps nice places, but I wanted a story that is developing, and not a visit in Paris. And another thing, the relationship between Hannah and Si, the whole background, was told us by Hannah when she started to realise that perhaps it’s not as brilliant as she thought it is. Told, not shown. She was reminiscing, thinking and wondering and I didn’t get any feel of this relationship, as it was only told to me. I’m not sure, ist his a new thing in books now? Telling us about something without giving us a chance to experience it for ourselves? It was incredibly slow read and I am glad that I’ve managed to finish it – yes, skim reading but without a feeling that I’m missing something – and being glad that the book ended is not a good sign.

The story is told by Hannah and really, we get a huge dosis of Hannah but not in a good way, because she was not strong enough a character to carry the whole story. She’s flat and simple, full of anxieties and insecurity, overly reliant on her boyfriend, assuming things that are not true, absolutely not believing in herself. We slowly learn why it is she is like this but I’m sorry, I think it needed much deeper reasoned. The good thing about her was the fact that she finally started to develop but it took so much time, I was starting to feel very, very impatient and even the fact that she dared to eventually make some new steps in her life couldn’t change my feelings towards her and the whole book. Because it all came too late.

There really doesn’t happen much in this story, sadly. It is a long journey towards finding and establishing what is really important in life, but that’s all, and the journey towards it was not the most exciting one. The conflicts and rare twists feel very unnatural and forced. Nevertheless, if you love Paris, and need a realxing, steady read, this might be a book for you.

The writing is good, I think, and the author seems to be a lovely story – teller but it doesn’t help a lot when there is a great idea that is not delivered. However, it was easy to read, and I kept reading, so there.

What a joy of a book. Lorraine Brown transports you on a whirlwind tour of Paris in all its gorgeousness; from the hustle and mania of the tourist spots you'll likely know, to the lesser known cafe spots and vistas that you'll want to seek out (when we can all travel again!). With the city very much playing its own character here, she plays beautifully with the complexities of relationships and how they can morph and shift, and make you question what people are really seeking when they are with someone else. It's an uplifting read that I would absolutely recommend.

The story begins with Hannah and Si rushing from a break in Venice to travel to Amsterdam for Si’s sister Catherine’s wedding. Si’s family sound very high maintenance and Hannah has already been given a list of jobs to carry out. A problem with the cabin they booked means that Hannah goes and finds somewhere else to sleep and when she wakes up Si and all her belonging’s have gone.

She has ended up in Paris with only a maxed out credit card, a phone ( which she soon loses) and her camera. The man Leo, whose music had kept her awake has also met a similar fate and they end up in Paris together waiting for the next train to Amsterdam. She begins to realise that she is actually managing fine without Si , when she call her mother she is less than helpful and reminds Hannah that she always ends up in a mess.I liked Hannah she is quite ditsy, unorganised and nervous and she has relied on Si a lot. When Leo turns up with a motorbike and offers to take her to police station she starts to think he maybe going to abduct her but he is as good as his word.

Leo starts to uncover that Hannah is really out of her comfort zone and he offers to take her on a tour of Paris which she is very apprehensive about. This is a wonderful trip around Paris and it made me want to go and eat cake and sit in a cafe again. Hannah has let Simon treat her like a child and she begins to discover with Leo’s help that she can be braver. Leo seems to have his own secrets that he is not willing to share so easily. This is a great book it was just what I needed at this time, and it is full of surprises and I enjoyed finding out the stories behind Leo and Hannah, the more I read the more engrossed I became in their lives.

Funny, truthful and heartwarming this is a wonderful read and is a great story about a woman finding herself I loved it !
