Even though this book was not my cup of tea, it was still a delightful read. Jessica escapades were entertaining to follow and the recipes enjoyable. This book transported me to London at a time I am unable to travel. Looking forward to trying some of the recipes.

I want to thank NetGalley, the author and publisher for the e-ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.

An enjoyable and informative read. Love the recipes throughout the book. Relevant to the dialogue. A journey in physicality and emotionally. Moving from Miami to the UK and trying to meet Mr Right. A moving insight into how age and expectations can set us up to fail. How different methods of self help guided and even informed choices.
I won't spoil the ending you need to read the book, but yes I agree totally with the final statements.

2.5 This is a enjoyable memoir chronicling an American singleton's search for love and good food while living in London. The recipes sprinkled throughout are an added bonus to a fun read.

Who doesn't love a book about dating and food? Throw in the city of London and I'm sold. Jessica Stone reveals details about her love life and her disappointing search for love in London. You'll read about The Accountant, The Barrister and a few others. She will entertain you with stories about being an American in London. Along the way, she will share some recipes. This doesn't go into too much detail about London (so it's not a travelogue) and it's not a self-help book but it was a very comfortable read. Reading this was like having a catch up with a girlfriend over a cup of coffee.

This book was received as an ARC from Ripe Press in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

While reading this book I felt like I was transported through London along with Jessica through her adventure of discovery post divorce. This book focused on the optimistic side of a difficult circumstance and what it truly meant to be. I loved how Jessica compared her life to recipes she discovered while in London and the creative titles she gave them just made me enjoy the book even more. I have read a lot of food memoirs in my career but none of them quite transported me along for the ride as Craving London did. Kudos to Jessica Stone for that.

We will consider adding this title to our Biography collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

If I was describing my dream book it would be this. I loved every single page and will be recommending it to all!

Craving London is a frothy tale as sweet as the Dulce de Leche cake recipe found in its pages. This is a memoir of travel, food (including recipes), and men, LOTS of men.
I’ve always had a fascination with London, and this book descriptively took me there.

Craving London is a rather unusual book telling the memoirs of a 30 year old American writer when she moves to London. She describes her love connections with men, food, and writing. Each chapter tells of an event, and many of them have a recipe attached. I particularly liked the cookies and brownies.

There's an amusing section transcribing some of our British sayings, some of which I've had to translate to my own American friends in the past. Who knew a shared language could be so different? I love the way Americans generally have a pre-conceived idea of the British, and then find that we're not all Mary Poppins and Mr. Darcy after all.

Don't expect a sexual romp around London, as Jessica was bought up to be a good Catholic girl who believed sex was sacred. There's a series for dates but rather than romances developing, I found the experiences to be more like the author was soul searching.

At about 3 hours of reading time, it's easy to pick up and put down. There is more about food than travel although there is a trip to Paris, Scotland, Spain, and Thailand, but only Thailand gives some focus on the travel experience. If you like reading about the human nature of "regular" people, you might enjoy this one.

I REALLY loved the descriptions of food in this one and only wish there could have been more of that side of things! This was a really great look at the authors life moving from America to London in search of great love and great food. This book is getting a 3.5 star for me as I found a lot of the diet culture references / fatphobic remarks were unnecessary and just left a sour taste in my mouth. Shame really as otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can't wait to try out some of the recipes!

I’ve recently been enjoying memoirs, particularly food and travel memoirs, so Craving London felt right up my alley. I didn’t like this book as much as I anticipated, unfortunately. There were hardly any recipes in the book, and for a book billed as a good memoir, I was really disappointed in that. The recipes that were included were barely even recipes at all (peanut butter and jam sandwich? Applesauce?). The title and description of this book leads the reader to believe it’s more about food than anything else. It truly read more like a diary of a single woman in London, though I suppose that was another intention of the author. I was anticipating much more bulk around the romance aspect of this book as well, and it just didn’t deliver. We get only the briefest look at a few different men, and that’s it. Had this book merely been entitled A Diary of London or some such, I might not have felt let down. Finally, there were quirks in the writing style that I found off-putting. So many times, I felt like I was reading the literary equivalent of a compulsive name-dropper. The constant translation of British word use made the author project a superiority-type of attitude. It gave a patronizing air to the book. Overall, I would not recommend this book to someone looking for a food/travel/romance memoir, but rather someone who just wants to read about someone else’s time as an ex-pat in Britain.

This might be my favorite kind of memoir; a well written view inside the life of a normal person. I couldn't put it down once I started reading, which is a good sign that I'm really enjoying a book. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was the end. The last chapter or three felt like the author just decided to be done. I would have rather the book just ended than have a few pages wrap up ten years of the author's life. I was provided a copy by the publisher for free in exchange for an honest review.

I was not expecting to like this so much! It's the perfect weaving of amusing stories about the trials and tribulations of single/dating life, sprinkled with delicious recipes. And in London no less! This is perfect for lovers of food, London, travel, and self-discovery. I would absolutely recommend to friends - and would make a really cute gift!

Ha! Best ever cookbook! Absolutely kick starts from the first paragraph! Sex and food just go together soooo well- pure genius! And it takes place in London, England- even better! Jessica Stone has created a cookbook that is just as entertaining a story of her love life (men's names changed to protect their identities.) This is a hoot to read while maybe fixing a recipe or a few from breakfast to dinner while reading. Maybe a good inspiration for our own cookbooks.
