I really wanted to like this book but there was just too much that didn't add up to me. I found the characters to be 2D and the overall plot wasn't appealing. I loved the premise of the book but the actual writing itself was weak.

this is the first book I’ve read by this author and didn’t really know what to expect. I found it rather different to the blurb in that I was expecting an edge of seat suspense but found some of the writing and characters to be a little comic relief. The narrator was very good and whether it was her take on certain characters voices that gave the comic element I’m unsure 😐

As someone who has never had any trouble getting to sleep I found it a little hard to identify with Thea, a chronic insomniac who takes part in a sleep trial on a deserted island. Nonetheless I was interested enough in the story to keep on reading until about half way through when I thought the story started to flounder If it had not been Netgalley book I would not have bothered to finish it

Wow I devoured this book in one sitting. I honestly could not put it down. It’s so dark and twisted but utterly absorbing and as someone who struggles with sleep this book has freaked me out lol. I honestly would love to see this made into a movie as it’s such an interesting and dark story. Loved the it!

This book is a great read! The story kept me on edge and I didn’t want to put it down. The writer does a fine job keeping the pace throughout.

Wow! Quite impressive, riveting, complex, rich, absolutely well-written thriller dances between different genres!

You feel like you read different books at the same time: first half is mysterious, psychological thriller with gothic, claustrophobic vibes of secluded island theme and the second half is more dystopian, sci-fi, futuristic thriller.

As an insomniac, the blurb hooked me, and I admired how the writer set the scene initially, but I didn't feel this lived up to expectations.. As the story unfolded, it became difficult to suspend disbelief and I'm afraid I couldn't finish it.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

This was not for me, so my review wouldn't be the most useful. Not to say the book isn't good, just not to my preference.

This book is rather a mixed bag for me. It started off really well and seemed an interesting premise. We discover Thea who can’t sleep in a big way and it is ruling her life, and so eventually she signs up for a sleep programme to improve this situation, which leads to her setting off to a remote island location, where strange things seem to be happening. Is it all it’s cracked up to be or has Thea gone from the frying pan into the fire?

The first part of the story I really enjoyed, Thea is a really interesting character who soon develops a good ‘little’ group of friends. However i then really started to struggle with the book, and it became quite a slow and laborious read as it transformed from a psychological mystery into more of a science fiction style book.

It did improve towards the end but because of the middle section I feel I can really only give it three stars out of five. It needed in my eyes to have a bit more pace, some better dialogue and more tension at times. Although this may only be me so don’t let this put you off reading the book. I would like to say thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing a copy of this book to me for an open and honest review.

Thea is an insomniac who signs up to take part in a sleep trial held on an uninhabited island.

The book starts off well but about a third of a way in I started to get a bit bored - nothing was happening to keep me turning the pages. I felt like I was waiting for the action to happen but the story just felt a bit flat and lazy.

The ending seemed unfinished and I was left wondering if I’d missed a chapter. Why introduce the mysterious Bare Footed Man just for the storyline to not go anywhere.

I enjoyed the beginning of the book, but for me, it lost steam.

"Morpheus. Dream your way to a better you - one sleep at a time."

I struggled with this one. It's taken me two weeks to get through it, and so many times. I wanted to put it down and not finish it. But after so long trying to get through it, I felt like I needed to see it through to the end. I was immensely disappointed and honestly couldn't find a single positive about this book.

This book literally left me sleepless!!!!! I could not put it down. It was like a version of Black Mirror episode. The first part of the book did take a bit to get me to focus initially since it was more of a slow suspenseful buildup but the second half was exactly the type of story I love. Full of action with a sci fi feel. Definitely recommend this book if you like Psychological thrillers crossed with a sci fi mind bending element.

This book was very well written and although not my usual choice of genre I found myself racing through it. There were many twists and turns with quite an unexpected ending. The whole idea of a sleep trial with dubious motives is a clever concept. A unique story with a likeable protagonist. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.

3 Stars- Rounded down from around 3.5.

This book is certainly unlike anything I have read before. Dreams have always been something that fascinate me, and I loved some of the ideas that Louise Mumford came up with in this area.

Sleepless follows Thea, who has really severe insomnia. It is impacting her life to a great extent. At her wits end, with no where else to turn, she signs up for a trial. The trial claims to be able to fix your sleep with its technology, and to be able to make you a better human being. But everything is not as it seems.

I was so drawn to the premise of this book. As an insomniac and avid thriller fan it seemed to fit perfectly. I initially really enjoyed the book, I was struggling to put it down and was thinking about it when I wasn't reading it. Unfortunately for me, the latter part of the book just wasn't quite as engaging, it felt a little lacking.

That being said, this book was fast paced and an enjoyable read. It is such a unique perspective, and certainly made me wonder what technology may do for us in the future (for better and worse). But I wouldn't make the mistake I did and read it before bed- it often left me nervous to close my eyes! All in all, I think this was a good debut novel and I will definitely keep my eye out for more from this author.

I want to say a big thank you to Netgalley, the publishers (HQ) and Louise Mumford for giving me the chance to read this book and give my personal opinion. I would recommend this book to people who like a more futuristic/dystopian type thriller.

Oh my gosh I loved this book! Sleepless appealed to me as someone who has suffered from insomnia since I was really young. At first I was thinking that a sleep trial would be phenomenal but then I realized that this is a thriller and things aren’t always that simple... I definitely recommend this book! 5 stars for sure from me!

Thank you so much to HQ and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review!

This was a total homerun! As someone that has terrible problems sleeping, I related to the main character and her struggles. And then the wild ride started. Excellent book!

Wow, a chilling book that kept me gripped. Thea is insomniac and when she finds out about a sleep trial it seems ideal.....however things are never as they seem! Great book that I devoured!!

Thea has struggled with sleep issues for years. After learning of a new sleep trial she registers her interest and is approached to become a paid subject. After accepting she moves with the others to a testing site on a secluded island. The opportunity seems too good to be true and perhaps it will be.
Due to personal experience I find the idea of treatment for insomnia very interesting and thought this was a great concept with potential for development. At times I found parts a little weak and initially struggled to stay with the book after the first few chapters. This may have been partly due to expecting to see more details on the testing side of things. Just as I was about to give up everything started to happen on the island and I had to stick around to make sure Thea made it out alive.
Although Thea’s mother Vivien played a relatively small part she seemed an interesting character and I would have liked to read more of her. I was also amused at the idea of a menopausal army! Perhaps Vivien will play a bigger part in another book?
I felt this was a good read for a first time author and look forward to seeing how she develops as a writer. Also it’s easy to see how the sleep issue could be exploited for financial or other gain in the real world.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a free digital copy of the book in return for an honest review.

I was intrigued by the unusual theme, but I felt let down when it became implausible. It's well written, but outside my preferred genre. I was fascinated at first, but then the book began to drag and I lost interest. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher.

3.5 stars
Ok so the first third or so pages of this book was good and I was engrossed in it, this poor woman had insomnia and it was so bad that she had no more than three hours of sleep a night. I did think, welcome to my world of being a parent of having much the same for the past 5 years though.
She then sees an ad for a sleep trial and signs up heading to a secluded island with no phone signal then things start getting shady.
Unfortunately, it turned into something I didn’t expect and I found the story not keeping my attention as it should.
The author had a good imagination and it was well written, but it didn’t grab me.
