This book is set in medieval times.
It is written so well.
It is a strange book and I felt that the conclusion never came

Set in the thirteenth century, this book is more about the power of the church and trade on the Rhine than building a cathedral. It starts promising and I enjoyed the characters of Reddich, Grete and Eugenius but they are quickly swallowed up by a pleathered of other characters and their stories that the threads are difficult to follow. It is an interesting period in German history and a lot of work has gone into this book, but maybe, less would have been better or split into 2 volumes with more about each character. I had hoped I would have enjoyed it as much as Pillars of the Earth and Sarum but this wasn't for me.
5* for content and 3* for readability.

My thanks to Ben Hopkins, Europa Editions, and Net Galley for the ARC of CATHEDRAL. I tried to get into Cathedral because I felt it was worth the effort, but I'm afraid it beat me. I'm giving four stars because it's clearly well-written and will appeal to many readers who like to delve deeply into this era of history, but it just wasn't for me.
