I did enjoy this romance story, it kept my attention throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the story of Jess's maternal line, twines together and through with the butterfly necklace. I was fascinated by the descriptions of the jewellery and the Victoria and Albert Museum's jewellery halls, a place I love to get lost in too. I felt the story started really well but became a little obvious towards the end, it felt a little rushed.

The characters are well written and interesting, especially the stories of the previous generation. Jess is a likeable character and I understand her choices, however, they were a little obvious. Guy, the charming rake, and although very likeable he is a little annoying, as is her boyfriend Tim; they are both a little cliched.

This is the second book by Louisa Leaman, and although I think her debut novel was better than this one, with a stronger storyline, I did enjoy thoroughly it and would recommend it.

There are some rather lovely descriptions of Jess remembering her childhood. Remembering playing with her mother's jewellery box 'silver chain links running cold and loose through her fingers'.
She goes to an Auction sale, trying to buy back a family necklace for her grandmother, but is pipped at the post by the charming Guy. Despite all her pleas he refuses to sell it back to her, unless she agrees to a date. In fact, he has sold it to a model to wear at a ball.
The story of the necklace itself is interesting, and as we learn more and more about its history so the book becomes much rounder .The ownership gradually builds up. The letters from Anna, Jess's visit to PelTawr, all open up a much wider view of the story than first expected.
I enjoyed this book. Thanks to NetGalley for a chance to read and review it.

I loved this light-hearted romantic comedy. The characters were so likeable even dull Tim! Lots of laugh out loud moments. I actually had tears rolling.

The story line flowed really well, and I was totally engrossed in the book. Lots of quirky moments. I honestly didn't want it to end. I really enjoyed this pure escapism book. Perfect reading for a cozy night in.

I will be looking out for more from this author

Firstly thanks to Netgalley and Random House UK for an early review copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I read this book in one sitting. I hadn't read anything by this author before so I was looking forward to seeing what she produced.

The book started at an auction house where Jess (our main character) is trying to buy back her grandmother's precious necklace. Unfortunately she is outbid by Guy, a charming giod looking gentleman.

The story then proceeds through Guy and Jess' relationship, she tries to buy the necklace from him and he refuses unless she goes on a date with him. Not a problem but she is already going out with dependable Tim.

The story takes us to California, to a ball and various visits to see Jess' ill grandmother. The author is very good at describing places to make the reader feel like they are there.

I also loved the descriptions of all the jewellery, you could almost see them as you were reading.

Overall an enjoyable read and I will purchase this book once released.

I wasn't a huge fan of this book. Jess was annoying and Guy was immature and selfish. Add in to that the unnecessarily long tale of a "soulamte" necklace and I just wasn't big on this book. I skim read the last 50% of the book and I think I actually preferred Tim to Guy.
