Dani Atkins does it again! She is quickly becoming my favourite author.
This is a beautifully written book, so sad at times and also so funny and heart warming.
We meet Alex, Lisa and Connor at the start, Lisa is off to give a speech at an astronomy conference but on after saying bye to her family, the unthinkable happens. Through this we meet 4 more characters Molly, Mac, Jamie and Barbara, they are joined together by one moment.
Its an absolutely beautiful read and I would 100% recommend it. Thank you Dani for another wonderful read.

I was drawn in from the very beginning and felt like I was living alongside the characters. I was moved so deeply that at times I was sobbing ugly tears. At other times I felt such an abundance of happiness and love that I couldn’t resist the urge to hug my daughter a little tighter and hold her a few extra heartbeats longer. The messages in A Sky Full of Stars will forever live within me, and I am a better person for having read it!

Due to the convenience of reading on electronic devices, I tend to only use my traditional bookshelves for my most special books - my literary treasure collection. I reserve my bookshelf space for my most prized books that speak to my heart and make a difference in my life. A Sky Full of Stars is definitely a bookshelf book! It is a diamond in my literary treasure collection! I highly recommend that you make a place for it on your bookshelf too so that it can become a part of your literary treasure when you finish reading it! If you’re like me, you’ll purchase it in multiple formats. That’s how amazing it is!

Alex and Lisa love one another, and their son Connor, with an intensity that cannot be defined by words. Lisa has the strongest bond with Connor because they both share an insatiable passion for astronomy. Alex admires Lisa’s relationship with Connor and enjoys the excitement of their shared love of astronomy, but it is a language he doesn’t understand.

Lisa is ecstatic about speaking at an exhibition at the Astronomy Fair. Being asked to participate as a speaker at the exhibition is one of her biggest career achievements. Connor was desperate to go and begged Lisa to take him. She knew she couldn’t though since she’d be occupied as a presenter. Lisa made a sincere promise to take Conner to the next Astronomy Fair. That was the last time Connor saw his mother alive. The last few moments Alex spent with Lisa was just before signing the paperwork to consent to her organ donation.

Molly, a young teacher, received Lisa’s heart. Jamie, an eccentric young man, received Lisa’s lungs. Mac, a successful and ambitious architect received Lisa’s corneas. Barbara, an elderly lonely widow received one of Lisa’s kidneys. The day Lisa passed away was the first day of a new life for the four recipients. None of the recipients expected to meet Lisa’s family or each other. but they all felt obligated after they received invitations to join Alex and his family and friends. Despite being strangers, the four recipients felt drawn to one another. Dani Atkins did a phenomenal job with the character development! They were so incredibly diverse, and yet her writing so well about their unique distinct personalities made each one of the easy to relate to. Alex was a broken shell of a man who was struggling to relate to his son and trying to make sense of everything. Alex relied on his brother Todd and his wife Dee for support and guidance, but also felt at odds with them sometimes because they were not in favor of his choice to get to know the recipients.

There are so many unexpected things that happen and feel out of the ordinary, and Alex and the four recipients have a hard time understanding everything. As Molly, Barbara, Jamie and Mac move forward in their lives, Alex and Connor feel stuck. They remain frozen in the past and it’s sometimes a challenge to even talk about Lisa in past tense instead of present tense.

It takes a tragedy of epic proportion before they all fully grasp the reality that surrounds them. When further disaster sneaks upon them again, they all make startling revelations and their lives are forever changed...again. To say this is the best book I’ve ever read is an understatement!

The main characters were so realistic and their lives, connected by a single act, are well intertwined.
At the start I thought this book would be run of the mill. But it developed beyond what I expected.
I loved reading this book and yet again the author Dani Atkins has written a great book.

I found this a gut wrenching read, but mixed with love hope new beginnings and friendship. This was my first time reading a Dani Atkins book and I really enjoyed the writing style - I look forward to reading more from this author. I love reading Dani’s work and I devoured this book in two days. Once I turned the first few pages, I knew I was in for a treat that kept me glued to the pages, right till the end.

About the story:

When Lisa married Alex, she gave his life meaning. She was a professional astronomer: a stargazer. And when she gazed at Alex, she saw that behind his tough exterior was a man she could love.

Alex, Lisa and their young son Connor made a happy little universe. But then Lisa dies in a train crash, and their universe is destroyed. Alex is shattered by loss, and overwhelmed by the difficulties of being a single father to a six-year-old boy. How can he and Connor carry on without Lisa lighting up their lives?

Then Alex meets four strangers. Two men and two women, who never met Lisa, but whose lives changed profoundly because she died. As Alex hears their stories, he begins to realise the world may not be as cruel and senseless as it seems. Perhaps, after all, the future is written in the stars...

This was an extremely special and well written book. In true Dani style, this romantic story included some difficult and challenging events which are based around medical situations, which I love. It was well thought out and kept me gripped. The characters were likeable and I even found myself wanting to be friends with them all. At times it was utterly heart breaking and I needed lots of tissues, but throughout the story it was rewarding and uplifting at times and I just loved it.

Oh wow. What a book. Another smashing book by Dani Atkins. Grab your tissues and dive in. This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster with beautifully crafted characters who jump off the page. I thought the book was headed in a predictable way but it veers off to a brilliant ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this (even the sobbing) and would highly recommend

What a beautiful emotional story. Alex met Lisa on a rainy night and from then on they were inseparable.They are happily married and have a beautiful son when a tragedy occurs and thiings will never be the same again .Dont want to spoil the story but even though it's a sad its beautiful as well ,and reduced me to tears before I was halfway through the book. Such wonderful characters and fabulous story telling it was a pleasure to read and I loved it.

Dani has done it again, this is a beautiful emotive book following a group of people who have been brought together following the tragic death of Lisa, wife of Alex and mother to Connor.
Following Alex, Molly, Mac , Jamie and Barbara we learn about the events that bring them together and the way they handle this,
Dani writes so well that you are instantly drawn in and feel a huge connection to each and every character. I cried (big, fat, ugly tears), I laughed and at times my heart was in my mouth as I worried about how things would turn out.
Little things like the tattooed man in the lift( when you read it you will know), and the going home to tell Connor what has happened rip into you as you imagine you are there with Alex.
The way Dani transitions from the very emotional scenes following Lisa’s death to the time after as all those affected rebuild their lives. I went from crying, to feeling hope and even laughing out loud at the scene in the department store (again when you read it you will know).
I highly recommend this book (and maybe a box of tissues)

Dani Atkins never fails to deliver and this beautifully written book is no exception. It begins with a tragedy, the results of which are far reaching and life changing for a number of people. The story revolves around the subject of organ donation and, in this instance, the recipients. Not only are four lives changed physically but they all become emotionally connected with each other and the husband of the donor. This unusual aspect of the story had me gripped throughout. The book deals with grief, loss, love and healing in the most touching way. Connor, the seven year old son of deceased donor Lisa and her widowed husband Alex, is particularly affected by the death of his beloved Mum and his part in the book really tugs at the heartstrings. There are no nasty characters in this book - not one - but every one is likeable and I found myself rooting for every person as they all dealt with the situation in their own particular ways. This book kept me enthralled all the way through. It began by pulling me straight into the story. As it unfolded I couldn't put it down and the ending left me uplifted, satisfied and thankful for the special talent of Dani Atkins that made reading her book such an enjoyable experience. I have read all of Dani Atkins books so I knew before starting the book it was going to be an emotional read.

Dani didn't fail to pull at the heart strings in this story that is written from duel pov of Alex and Molly.
I really enjoyed this read of their journeys and of those around them. All of the characters are likeable.

You already know by the blurb that Alex has lost his wife, Lisa, but that doesn't make her death any less traumatic when it happens.

It's the journey her widow Alex and her young son Connor go on as they try to make sense of what happened and along the way meet 4 people who life was also changed the night Lisa died.

Such an emotional read.... I read this during the first week of lockdown part 3 so my emotions were already all over the place but at least this time I was having a therapeutic cry!

Unknowingly Lisa has helped four people, two men and two women and it is these strangers who Alex turns to his grief and begins to realise that somehow his wife is still looking out for him and their son!

Dani Atkins, your book squeezed every emotion out of me, but it also unbelievably lifted my spirits.

It will without a doubt make you cry, but it will also make you think and maybe, just maybe make you believe in the magic of the stars!

I adored this book from start to finish. I was expecting a tear jerker and I wasn't disappointed! A beautiful story that looks at the reality of organ donation and the effects on all the people involved with this. The characters were wonderful and unique.

Wow, what an amazing book from Dani.

When Lisa is involved in a catastrophic train crash and is pronounced brain dead at the hospital Alex must decide whether to donate her organs to help others. Molly receives Lisa’s heart, Mac receives Lisa’s corneas, Jamie receives Lisa’s lungs and Barbara receives Lisa’s kidneys. Alex can’t let go of Lisa and arranges to meet these 4 people in the hope of getting Lisa back. A book full of love, loss and emotion.

Picking your first book of the year is always an exciting one but one full of pressure as you want to start the year of positively so you want that first book to be a memorable one which was why I chose to read A Sky Full of Stars by Dani Atkins as my first read. Dani Atkins is one of those authors who packs such raw emotion into her storylines and I have loved each and everyone of her novels.
After a disastrous incident takes Lisa’s life leaving behind her six year old son Connor and beloved husband Alex she is set to change four people’s lives.
With Alex struggling to cope with his own grief now his path has been cruelly altered and trying to comfort and raise is son as a single parent, could the meeting of these four complete strangers be a comfort to him or is he making a big mistake?
Dani Atkins has broken my heart once again with this poignant storyline, from the start of the novel I had my heart in my mouth and felt the desperation and devastation that Alex was feeling as his world collapsed around him. If Alex’s grief wasn’t heart-breaking enough we also have a dear little boy Connor who has lost his mummy and doesn’t understand why she isn’t coming back.
I want to be careful that my review doesn’t give too much away but the author explores the lives of those who have received organ transplants but she shows how blurred the lines can be if the family of the doners meet the receivers. It made a interesting storyline and definitely brings awareness to organ donations and the importance of talking to your loved ones about your choice if you opt to be on the register.
The four characters Molly, Mac, Barbra and Jamie were all strong grateful individuals who were all so worthy of the gift of a second chance they received. I loved each of their characters and was touched by the little hints of Lisa we see in them. They all formed an otherwise unlikely friendship and a love for a broken family in need.
Just as I felt my heart was mending the author threatened to break it again and again in events I couldn’t see coming. I loved that the author managed to keep a constant flow of intrigue with a will they won’t they scenario that kept me hooked.
This is one of those novels that doesn’t have a safe place to just put down and pick back up which meant I read this novel in one greedy sitting and es wrapped up in the characters emotions the whole way through. I loved the addition of the interest in Astronomy that united the family, I even found myself googling the Betelgeuse to see what they were trying to find so I think I was more invested in this storyline than I thought!
Dani Atkins fans will not be disappointed by A Sky Full of Stars, it will have you reaching for the tissues and pulling your family close.

This is a beautiful book that looks at the subject of organ transplants in a way which is both heartbreaking and uplifting. Told from the dual perspectives of grieving widow and struggling father Alex and transplant recipient Molly it shows the impact the death of his beloved wife Lisa has on Alex and his son and the flipside impact it has on Molly and three others. I really like the direction the author went with this book, hard to say too much without spoilers but the relationships between all affected by Lisa’s death were thoughtfully written. This is a very emotional book but has a lot of positivity too, I thoroughly enjoyed every page.

I love reading books by Dani Atkins so I was really pleased when I had an opportunity to read this one.

The story begins with a tragic accident and through the accident four other people are brought together. I can’t say too much as I don’t want to give the story away. You will have to read it for yourself!

This was an excellent story about heartache, grief, loss and trying to move on with life. This book will definitely stay with me for a while yet.

Molly needs a heart transplant, her own is failing and she is having to give up work due to it.

Lisa has the biggest day of her life, giving a speech at the astronomy fair, it is what she has wanted her whole life, but on the way she is involved in a train crash and sustains a brain injury leaving her brain dead. Lisa’s husband donates her organs to four people on need of transplants and Molly gets her heart.

Finding life difficult Alex contact the donor recipients, and finds a connection with Molly, he cannot help to think that the heart in Molly loves him as Lisa’s did.

A great book I really enjoyed it.
