This book centres around the Crayce family. Annie and David and their three children are a part of the extended family who run a thriving family business. They are a perfect couple, very happily in love until a piece of DNA evidence from 1999; threatens to tear their world apart.

David is the prime suspect in the murder of a young girl twenty years earlier. Annie finds her happy stable life put in question. Does she even know her husband? Would he be capable of murdering a young girl ?

I love Susan Lewis books and this was no exception . I did find it quite a long book but the beautifully written characters and plot twist made up for this in my opinion. This book had me thinking of how well we really know people who are close to us. A thought provoking book.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for my chance to read this gripping book .

A fantastic book that shows how one event can change your life forever.

Annie & David have the perfect life. A happy marriage, three children, a thriving business and family all around them. But all that changes when their daughter is arrested for theft of a teddy bear. Although she is released without charge her DNA swab leads to the unthinkable.

One moment they are happy, the next David is arrested for murder. Their daughters DNA is linked to a cold case, some twenty years earlier. Could David have really killed someone ? And hidden it for twenty years ?

As well as the police investigating, Annie decides to do her own investigation work. But will she prove her husband innocent ? Or will the unthinkable happen and she will have to admit the person she trusted the most in the world is a killer ?

This is a great whodunnit style thriller with plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked. There are plenty of secrets waiting to be discovered and I love the way we discover the truth along with Annie. A definite must read for anyone that loves their whodunnit thrillers.

Thank you to HarperCollins UK and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

It appears that Annie Crayce has it all, the perfect family, perfect life.

But then, the police appear at her doorstep, wanting to see her husband David, why, because they’re claiming, that they have DNA evidence that links him to a murder that happened in 1999.

So, now, Annie thinks does she really know her husband?

A book that had me gripped. I love reading Susan Lewis books and once again I wasn’t disappointed.

I felt that she’d given the characters and storyline so much depth that you just didn't know what how it was going to end.

Enjoyed reading it.

The Lost Hours - Susan Lewis Harper
Publish Date - 1st April 2021
Harper Collins

Annie & David have great life, kids and happy marriage. A young girl who was murdered 20 years before - a DNA match from her body, comes to light and either David, his brother or father are the match. Which one will it be?? Can they remember what they were doing 20 years ago??

My thoughts - I’m always honest with my reviews but fair. I liked the character Annie in the book. Trying her best to hold her family together! The book for me, was a bit slow pace for me in the middle. Great start and amazing twist at the end!! I’m not saying this book was not good ..... maybe just not for me.

Anne and David Crayce have it all. A loving marriage, three beautiful children and a thriving family business. Life couldn't be better. Until a piece of damning DNA evidence has arisen. placing one of them as the prime suspect of a murder committed twenty years ago. Karen Lomax was found dead the day after she went missing. Now due to familial DNA being discovered in a different case, the murder is now being reinvestigated.

What a suspenseful, tense and gripping page turner. With a complex plotline and so many twists, it kept me on y toes trying to work out where the story was going. One extremely happy family's lives are thrown into chaos. Could one of them be a murderer? Everytime i thought i had it sussed out, something would happen to change my mind. I could not put this book down.

I would like to thank #NetGalley, #HarperCollinsUK #HarperFiction and the author #SusanLewis for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

There is no doubt that Susan Lewis can tell a story, rich with detail and characterization. The Lost Hours is suspenseful and intriguing. But, for me, it is not my favourite Susan Lewis book. I found the storyline just a little too far fetched and I didn't really connect with any of the characters. To be blunt, I didn't really care about any of them that much. I think the premise of a cold case being reopened following a familial DNA match, is interesting but it just wasn't executed as well as I had been expecting.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this title in return for an honest review.

This was a book that really got under my skin. We start with one of those families - they live at the "big house" and well, you know the type and their attitudes to the "lesser people". Demanding respect not necessarily fully deserving of it.
Anyway, for twenty years the murder of Karen Lomax has remained unsolved. Then, one day, a familial DNA match is found and fingers start to point to David Crayce, the current incumbent of the aforementioned "big house". He is duly arrested and questioned. But how did his DNA turn up at the murder scene. How was he involved? Was it him? It was familial DNA, there's other relatives to consider. Where was everyone else at the time? So many questions. So many lives connected to this incident - both in the past and present. Just exactly what happened twenty years ago and who is trying to hide it? Who, quite literally, got away with murder?
Wowsers. This book is worth all the stars. It contains everything I need to make a good book a great read. It hit the ground running, sucked me in, held me captive throughout, spitting me out at the end completely satisfied. With secrets, lies and duplicitous behaviour aplenty and a plot so tight and well executed. It really had it all. Oh and some rather larger than life but wholly believable characters. All leading to an ending that, when it came, was both shocking and credible.
This is not my first outing with this author but it is the first five star book. Really looking forward to next time. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

WOW! I give The Lost Hours a five star rating but wish I could give more.
David and Annie have a great relationship and a very close knit family which is about to be tested to it’s limits.
A silly prank by their daughter Sienna is about to shatter life as they know it.
This is a story about love, loyalty and trust.
Every time I thought I knew the outcome along came another twist to make me rethink.
I have read all Susan Lewis books and never thought she could top No Child Of Mine but I think she possibly has.
What an amazing read, couldn’t put it down.
Thank You to HarperCollinsUK, NetGalley and Susan Lewis for an early copy of The Lost Hours.

A real slow burner from Susan Lewis but it manages to build up the tension as it progresses and maintains it to the last page . A teenage brush with the law leads to discovering a familial DNA match linked to a twenty year old murder. A perfect family suddenly finds themselves being torn apart by suspicion, doubt and fear . I found myself being torn in several directions as the evidence led to one, then another of the family. I was unprepared for the final denouement! It was great to have another visit with Andee Lawrence , though she didn't make an appearance til two thirds of the way into the book. This was a well researched, clever book with red herrings aplenty, brilliant, well rounded and believable characters and a glorious backdrop of Dartmoor. Highly recommend.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Another great book from Susan.

When David and Annie’s daughter Sienna gets caught stealing a teddy bear with her friends her DNA is taken. Little does she know it will be a familial match from DNA taken from a murder scene 20 years. Her dad, uncle and grandad are all put in the frame but will it reveal who was the murderer. Just when you think you know who did it another twist is discovered and it’s not all as it seems.

An unusual story focusing on a 20 year old DNA sample to reinvestigate an unsolved murder. Slow to start, you soon become hooked in to how the story is unravelling.

The Crayce family are placed under suspicion when their DNA is linked to an unresolved murder dating back twenty years. As the story unfolds and you get to know them it is impossible to work out who is guilty. A gripping read.

When I first started reading The Lost Hours I had some reservations as the reader is introduced to a large cast of characters, I’m a reader who needs to be drawn into a book in the first few chapters or my interest wanes. Fortunately I am talking about author Susan Lewis’s latest book here, an author who always delivers a riveting read, so I persevered and thank goodness I did. This book is a highly captivating, whodunnit mystery that will keep you guessing the whole way through to its shocking conclusion.

I found The Lost Hours a very interesting and enjoyable read about an unsolved case from years ago and a chance DNA match from the present day. I find this sort of thing fascinating and loved the way the author portrayed this.

The Lost Hours is Susan Lewis at the top of her game, a seductive, slow-burn of a mystery that teases tantalizingly, like a lover’s touch, before exploding into a riveting, exhilarating thriller. I couldn’t put it down.

Annie and David Crayce have it all. A happy marriage, three great kids, a beautiful Dartmoor home and a thriving family business. Then out of the blue, a wrecking ball comes crashing through their lives. Familial DNA is matched to the unsolved, 20 year-old murder of a teenage girl. And it belongs to either David, his brother Henry, or father Dickie.

What a bombshell! And one made all the more devastating for landing on this picture-perfect, close-knit, extended family.

The narrative that follows is exquisitely plotted. Intense and feverish, it splits into two points of view: that of the police investigation and that of the family, as both sides endure the agonizing two-week wait for a definitive DNA result.

Among the Crayces, initial disbelief quickly morphs into suspicion, anger and barely contained hostility. Distant memories are dragged up, picked over and questioned. Secrets, lies, obfuscation—they’re all there in the mix. And it all distills down to a handful of hours on one fateful night, two decades ago.

When we finally get to the truth, it’s a beautifully disguised, sucker punch of a twist. A wholly convincing and satisfactory ending to an absorbing, dramatic tale.

BUT, sit tight! This is not a book that ends with the last page. This is a book that leaves some big, scary questions tossing about in the brisk Dartmoor wind. Questions about mental health, about love and trust, about obsession and jealousy. And the real biggie: about how completely we can ever truly know our nearest and dearest. For don’t we all have parts of ourselves that we keep private and hidden?

My thanks to HarperCollins via NetGalley for the digital ARC of this title.

Another brilliant book from Susan. Her books are so comfortable to read. Great storyline which tells of an murder that happened over 20 Years ago and is only being solved now. The murderer could have been anyone of a number of people. I really want to visit that place. Susan describes it beautifully.
