A great little book about patience and teaching our kiddos how to be patient through this sweet little dinosaur. Patience is one thing we all work on and this would be a good resource to help our littles through this life lesson.

"The Impatient Dinosaur" was the perfect book for my impatient preschooler! The illustrations were cute and I love how this story taught about day to day frustrations and how to deal with them. I will be recommending this one to my friends who also have small children.

I picked up this book for my son, who is a little too young for the book at this time as he is only 11 months old but I know it will come in handy later when he is older. Just like Sarah Read's other book that I read, this book is also filled with colorful illustrations.

The Dinosaur in this book is very impatient an does not understand why he has to wait to checkout at the grocery store in a line or for a store to open or for a surprise gift. His Mom tries to explain to him why he has to wait but I feel like the explanations are very short and do not really explain the "why".

I also did not find that their were a lot of techniques that were given to help the Dinosaur cope with being impatient. The one technique that was given was to tell him something that would make him smile, which ultimately contributed to him being more impatient because he wanted to know what his surprise was.

Rating: 3 out 5 because I did not find all of the explanations that the Dinosaur's parents gave him as to why he had to wait very relatable and didn't find that their were any techniques to use to help with being impatient.

The Impatient Dinosaur is a tale about a young child dino who does not like to wait for anything.

Raising a now 4 yr old boy, patience is virtue we are learning daily at home. It's hard to wait, it's hard to entertain yourself, it's hard to be patient. So obviously, this book appealed to me.

Firstly, I do not care for the illustrations. It's too cartoony rather than artistic, whimsical, realistic, or pretty. Secondly, the moral of the story fell short. The dino-child is ultimately taught that he will get a reward every time he is patient, rather than simply being taught to obey because it's the right and respectful thing to do. If a book is going to have such a heavy-handed moral message, it needs to actually be a good one. I much prefer a moral that is taught through a parable rather than spelled out so obviously and unimaginatively.

Furthermore, it's written in forced, jumbling rhyme. It was not a pleasant read aloud.

I saw this book and downloaded it right away to read to my three year old, we are having major troubles with this right now. She really enjoyed both the story and the pictures. I liked that it had a good lesson and also explained the feelings that the dinosaur was feeling. It did a good job at describing what being upset and impatient feels like in both your mind and your body as well as some tips to help calm down. I'm not sure if it will make her more patient, but I like that it is helping her to label and understand her feelings.

This dinosaur just loves to teach things to my children :) I love how this story taught about day to day frustrations and how to deal with them. A lesson that every child (and some adults) need.

An adorably illustrated picture book that reminds kids of the importance of patience. The situations in this book will be relatable to kids and adults.

This was a cute little book. My 5 year old twins really enjoyed it. I specifically picked this out for my son who has both ADHD and autism because he has a very difficult time with patience. They enjoyed the pictures and the rhyming and my son actual related to the little dinosaur getting mad and frustrated with having to wait which was great. We could then discuss the need to be patient and how Danny the dinosaur too had to be patient. I'll definitely keep this book in rotation for our nightly reading.

I thought that this book was really well written and like that it rhymed where possible too which gave it a lovely flow as I was reading it to my daughter.

As a mum I thought that the book was great, at times little kids do get bored and impatient and this one shows that there can be good stuff if you are patient and wait but it is not so easy when you are little and every minute feels like an hour – definitely one I will be reading with my daughter again – she is still at the age where she tends to want things right away so the book will be great if it can help break that habit.

It is 4 stars from me for this one – highly recommended!

Danny the dino is one impatient dude. His mom and dad help him navigate his feelings and emotions on impatience and help teach him how being patient can pay off in the end.

On my website, I feature Mommy & Me reviews where I read books to my 4 year old daughter and then we chat about them afterwards. In these reviews, I give my take on the book as a parent and I write down everything that my daughter had to say about it.

Mommy Review: I like how this story helped call attention the feelings associated with impatience. For example, when Danny is in line at the grocery store and says, “But my tummy feels knotted” and “my face feels red” and his mother consoles him by explaining he’s upset and to breathe and it will pass. Another great example is when the dino family is in the car and Danny is getting anxious about being in the car for a long time and says, “I’m fed up and feel really mad” and the dad explains that he has to have patience and that traffic won’t last long. His mom distracts him by giving him something to look forward to (his birthday present). These are all great ways to teach young ones to recognize feelings associated with impatience and how to manage it. I only wish we could have found out what Danny’s birthday present was, talk about a cliffhanger! :)

Kiddo Review:
Kid - “I like that book!”
Me - “Oh yeah? Me too. What did you like about it?”
Kid - *Flips to sitting in the car page* “I liked this part because Danny looks funny.
Me - “Yeah he kind of does. He looks really frustrated, right?”
Kid - “Yeah”
Me - “What do you think this story is trying to teach?”
Kid - “Umm...I think it’s talking about how to be patient.”
Me - “That’s right! Do you think Danny learned his lesson?”
Kid - “Probably not.”

Danny the Dinosaur is one impatient little dino. He hates nothing more than waiting. His parents teach him that things are worth the wait and help him learn to be patient. This is definitely a great story and lesson for little kids.

This was a great little story to read to my youngest son as his birthday is coming up in the next week and he has been getting very overexcited and inpatient waiting for it. He is also autistic and dinosaurs are his special interest so I couldn’t pick a better character to try and teach him the lesson of patience. Fun rhyming couplets and bright simple pictures. Nice little book.

I attempted to read this on two different devices but the doc showed up completely blank on every page.

A cute little story to read with a little one 😁
I loved the illustrations and the extra pages at the Back -which I assume are for colouring? - was a really nice touch 😁

Great little book that helps children understand their feelings about impatience and having to wait. Something that all kids struggle with but have to learn to wait their turn.
Great book with cute little illustrations too.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this children’s book. Basically, this book is about patience. The kiddo gets a little impatient waiting all day for his special time. It’s a pretty cute illustrated book, the storyline is standard. It is a book that aims to help kids understand emotions. It’s normal to get impatient but not normal to have outbursts etc. I think the last few black and white pages might be coloring pages? That’s pretty cool if so!
