I enjoyed the book by one of my favourite authors but have to admit it wasn’t one of my favourites.. when Isabel loses her husband she discovers she will soon be financially ruined. She has to leave her lovely home and sell her beautiful violin and go live in a dilapidated house left to her by an uncle she barely knew ..she soon discovers that a lot of people in the new village want the dilapidated house know as the Spanish House and will carry out ruthless acts to get it. Who can Isabel trust
Recommend if you are a fan of Jojo , as it is a lovely story.

Night Music is one of the author's earlier novels. A family drama, dealing with love and loss, I found it overlong and a slow read.

I've read a lot of Jojo Moyes books and am a huge fan of Me Before You so was very excited to read Night Music. One of her earlier novels, Night Music is the story of Isabel, a concert violinist, who inherits the Spanish house where she moves with her kids. However, when she arrives, she realises that someone else feels like he should own the house and is an extremely manipulative character.

Whilst I didn't get into the story as much as her newer novels, I enjoyed Night Music nonetheless and will be going back to read some of her older novels.

Thank you NetGalley for a copy.

A well written book that's true to form of JoJo Moye's writing thus far. Definitely one to bring tissues for.

We meet the Delancey family, Isobel to be precise and she has just lost her husband to an accidental death that has really left her shaken, at a loss and grieving hard. To add to that, Isobel finds herself in financial dire straits and the life she once lived is now completely out of reach.

With two children in tow - Kitty and Thierry, Isobel we learn has inherited a run down dilapidated house in Spain which could be the answer to all her woes, so uprooting the family, off they go to Spain.

The book takes you on a journey of love, life, loss, grief and with it secrets and drama. Not my favourite JoJo Moyes book, it an easy read.

Well deserves the 5 stars and highly recommended.

The Spanish House is known to locals as an architectural folly, and it is now nearly derelict to boot. When its reclusive owner dies intestate the Spanish House is left to his city-dwelling niece. For the recently-widowed Isabel, the house is a potential lifeline. For her neighbour Matt McCarthy, the house is revenge.

As soon as I saw that Jojo Moyes, I had to request her new novel.

I am yet to read a book by this author that I haven't enjoyed. However, a fault of my own - I always compare to Me Before You.

I did enjoy the book and thought it was one that tugged at the hearts and felt it was a an entertaining read. However, I really struggled to connect to any of the characters and find any of them likeable and for that reason, I was not able to give the book a higher rating.

A really lovely story about a widow who finds herself moving her children to a crumbling old house in a small village.....characters I wish I knew and a gripping emotive read that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside!

I love Jojo Moyes' books, her Me Before You series were brilliant reads.
This just didn't hit the mark for me. The writing was as expected- beautiful. But the plot just didn't grip me as much as I expected either. The characters were strong and well thought through, but I think the plot needed to have more substance also.

Isabel Delancey, recently widowed, has been left in a difficult financial situation by her deceased husband and must leave the posh London home she occupies with her two children, Kitty and Thierry. Violinist Isabel has been left 'The Spanish House' a property in rural Norfolk by a distant uncle and moves there. Rundown and shabby, it is nothing like the finery she and the children are used to and Isabel is also unaware that somebody else wants the house. Matt McCarthy, a builder, and Laura, his wife want the lakeside dwelling so badly...

The story revolves around the lives of a number of people, which I usually relish. Quietly compelling, I enjoyed the array of characters and drama surrounding them and found Jojo Moyes' writing engrossing. The author did a great job of revealing the characters whether they were good or bad. The children were age-appropriate, and the village shopkeepers were wonderfully drawn. Isabel herself was annoyingly vulnerable and could have had more awareness, and displayed a little more gumption but she was a good fit for the novel and I still found her story compelling. I eagerly devoured, Night Music and I'm turning my attention to my next read by Jojo Moyes.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Hodder & Stoughton via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

I am a huge fan of Jojo Moyes and find her writing to be relatable and honest. This book tells the story of a family grieving for their recently deceased father and husband who has left them with severe financial problems. When they inherit a dilapidated house and decide to move there from their home in London, a whole new set of challenges arise.
This book inspired quite strong feelings while I was reading it, ranging from deep sadness to anger. You know there will be a satisfying ending with Jojo Moyes novels, and the journey there is always engrossing.

4 🌟 This new edition of Jojo Moyes 2008 published book night music was a lovely surprise to see on netgalley! Despite jojo moyes being one of my early favourite authors I seem to have missed this first time round and I’m so glad I got to read it! I forgot how much I love a good chick lit! I love her writing style, it’s so easy and enjoyable to read. Musician Isabel Delaney is newly widowed and in a very difficult financial situation with her 2 kids. She then finds out she’s inherited a house involving a big move for the family. However its obviously not quite as straight forward as that but I won’t give anymore away!
If you’re a jojo fan and missed this first time round you’ll love it - if you’re new to jojo but fancy a good book to sit and devour then give this a go! Thanks netgalley and jojo!

This is a reissue of Night Music, a novel that was originally published in 2008 and that I originally read on release. I love JoJo Moyes writing style and this book does not disappoint. It's warm and empathic with characters I loved. I loved her other early books such as the Peacock Emporium and The Ship of Brides and on re reading this I do feel that it's not one of her best. However I'd recommend it as it's full of Moyes characteristic warmth with great characterisation and is an easy and engrossing read. Even with her weaker novels I feel that Moyes is a standout writer in this genre.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital ARC.

This was a book which I was really looking forward to , having previously enjoyed immensely the previous books I have read by this author.
I was bitterly disappointed. The book was hard going, plot was unbelievable, and the characters were weak.
Why did Isabelle not move the fridge to a position where there was a plug ? This book was not what I expected from this author
Thanks to Netgalley, and Hodder and Stoughton for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
