Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

This book is very detailed and informative. I found that it took me longer to read than I expected because I wanted to further research so many topics. Dr. Sharma goes quite in depth on various vitamins and minerals that are essential to longevity, as well as the organs of the body. A preventative approach is taken, although information is included to help certain conditions that can be reversed or improved to a degree. Much of the testing she includes may be quite expensive and unrealistic for the reader to obtain, but it isn't necessary to utilize the lifestyle changes and much of the supplementation. Some of the medicine is identified for organ disease progression and therefore, would need practitioner involvement, but the wide scope of readers the book appeals to is quite nice. New technology is also shared that could impact certain conditions and how they are screened for to keep an eye on. While I have found a few things the author stated to be untrue for my specific circumstances or in my own research, most of the book is very interesting and has a vast array of helpful information.

There are a lot of books out there about healthy living and nutrition, and I have been reading them for years. So how is this one different? This doctor takes the preventive approach to anti-aging and delves into things, such as our bone health eyes, ears, and our important body parts that many books I have read do not. I love to devour books on healthy living, and this author presents this information in easy to understand ways. They don’t use doctor language, but language for the rest of us who do not have a medical degree. They make it informative, interesting, and motivating, pointing out the building blocks of health, nutritional advice, exercise facts, reducing our exposure to pollutants, and so much more. They offer a blueprint for health and aging, as well as a regimen to adopt, and I love the guidelines on minerals and foods associated with those minerals. They really delve deep into health. Some of what they say could be controversial (cholesterol meds for instance) but I wish I could find my own doctor who believes in the prevention of disease and not overrunning our bodies with meds that could do more harm than good. Recommended.
