Rea and the Blood of the Nectar is such a fun and captivating story about family, friendship, power, and adventure. I loved reading all of the gorgeous prose, Doshi painted such lush and beautiful scenery and I really felt like I could see myself traveling with Rea to find Rohan.

I loved the character development that Rea goes through throughout the story, she starts off yelling at her twin brother but grows into a powerful and mature person by the end of the book. I also loved how much I learned about Indian culture, food, and celebrations, I think that this book will be such an amazing read for young people who haven't had the opportunity to read about this part of the world.

I will definitely be recommending this to young readers when it comes out.

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect middle grade books to replace the problematic ones in lite childhood and this seems to be winking. First of all o could not stop reading as it was a combination of the author’s lyrical writing and the engaging storytelling. It also helps that the main character is so interesting. I loved the inclusion of the South Asian culture and setting. I love seeing stories like this.

I couldn't put the book down! This is a beautifully told story of a 12 year old girl who goes on an adventure to find her missing twin brother on the night of their 12th birthday. More importantly, this is also a story about family secrets, sibling rivalry, friendships and 12 year old Rea's attempt to right the wrong.
The Author’s prose is so magical and I loved the transportational quality of all the fantastical elements!! Felt like I was alongside Rea on her quest and could literally visualize all the beautiful landscapes she navigates.
Personally for me, I was thrilled that Rea, a South Asian girl will forever share my bookshelf with the like of Nancy Drew, The famous Five and The Harry Potter Series while having an adventure of her own!

I enjoyed reading this book so much! It had me hooked from the first page and I was immersed in Rea's quest to find her missing twin brother. The author's prose is wonderful, descriptive and lyrical. The references to India and Indian culture were a treat to read and will be for all those who don't know much about the country. The fantastical world of Astranthia was also crafted beautifully. I was taken in with the budhoods, paris, and the sacred Som! The story is fast-paced and gripping mixed with a unique magic system and fantastical creatures. It is also a story about family, siblings and friendship - this book has so much heart! I highly recommend this book to kids and to anyone who enjoys reading an exciting adventure and mystery. Looking forward to reading all the books in this series!

oh the first chapter was short and sweet and certainly enough to capture the eyes of any curious young reader. Rea and her relationship with her twin brother Rohan is relatable, im sure, to many 12 year old kids

this book tells the captivating tale of a 12 year old girl who goes on an adventure to find her missing twin brother, Rohan on the night of their 12th birthday. it touches on the themes of family secrets, sibling rivalry, wonderful and strong friendships and exciting adventure.

it is truly refreshing to read about a young and powerful South Asian protagonist and i thoroughly enjoyed the cultural aspects of it as well! mentions of food like pakhoras and thukpas and the famous Diwali, the festival of Lights was fascinating and eye-opening. it would do well for children to read about a different culture and i think this book managed to capture the beauty and essence of India.

the pacing of the story moves fast, one moment you're reading about kids enjoying a game of cricket and the next rea's brother has gone missing and she dreams of an ominous message etched in stone that causes her to panic and search for him which opens up a path of magic and wonder and danger.

overall, this was a great read and i would definitely recommend it
