I'm not usually one for high school centered manga, but I'm a sucker for an adorable yuri story and this was no exception. Whisper me a Love Song begins as bubbly and fun Himari sees another girl, Yori, sing in a band. Himari is struck with love at first sight and feels new feelings awaken. Yori and Himari begin a friendship and have some really sweet encounters and conversations about what Love really is and how different love can be. I will say, this manga is so sweet it made my teeth hurt, but after the year that was 2020 I felt we could all use a bit of super sweet sugar in our reading lists. Great manga, I wish the series much success.

This honestly felt like a cute ff version of Given.

Whisper Me a Love Song is about two girls Himari Kino, an up and coming freshman, and Yori Asanagi, a third year and the temporary lead singer in the high school band SSGirls. Both of them fall in love at first sight with each other and it follows the beginning of their relationship.

This story is just absolute fluff and completely adorable. Even though same sex relationships aren't typically accepted, all of Himari and Yoris' friends are accepting of their relationship although Yori thinks that Himari is just in love with her voice and not her.

Adorable and Energetic first-year high school student Himari falls in love with her senpai Yori after witnessing her band perform on the first day of school. On the same day, Himari gets to meet Yori at one of the shoe lockers and, without thinking, confess her love to Yori. Surprisingly, Yori felt the same way, but both girls have a different kind of love. Himari begins to question what she thinks what the definition of love is.

This was so cute and delightful, I've read it in one sitting.

Whisper Me a Love Song is like a mix of Given and K-On, I LOVED IT.

I adored Himari's and Yori's chemistry so much and I had so much fun reading about them. The story was funny, adorable, romantic, and the art style is incredible.

This manga has literally everything you need, I wouldn't change a thing! I can't wait to read volume 2.

*Thank you NetGalley for providing me an ARC copy of Whisper Me a Love Song*

Utterly delightful!

This was just so cute, it had those Given, Vol. 1 vibes mixed with Kase-san and Morning Glories & K-ON! vol. 01 with the music, queerness and female friendships. It was just all around a great story and I am very interested in picking up the second volume. Especially with that ending!

I love a sweet yuri that isn't too intense sometimes and this one definitely delivered the saccharine.

Also, the art is spectacular so... all in all it was pretty great!

A fun and sweet manga that that hooked me from the start and had me swooning and laughing throughout.
Himari and Yori are absolutely adorable and I loved all of the hilarious situations that come from their miscommunications. This story is so funny and so cute.
The art is fantastic and matched the tone of the story perfectly.
I read this entire story in a single sitting. It was a really fun read and I couldn’t put it down.
This is a wonderful start to a promising series and I hope to see many more installments in the future. The characters are sweet and funny and the plot is clever and all the hijinks make for a truly delightful story with a lot of future growth for the characters.

Whisper Me a Love Song is surely wonderful and by far one of the best girls' love series I've read. Himari is a first-year, who falls madly in love with her senpai Yori, when she hears her sing at a band gig. To Himari's surprise Yori confesses too, but soon it's clear that Himari's love and Yori's love are different. Himari adores Yori, but Yori feels so much more and now Himari has to balance in between her role as friend and if that can ever be more. At first I was annoyed by Himari, but soon the manga got more serious and showed more depth and realistic approaches to the topic. Both girls have their own personas and they think and talk a lot, which is great. Their discussions are more interesting than your basic manga ones and the story feels like a slow burn romance, which is something you hardly see and wish for every time.

The art looks nice and cute, but still quite realistic in a sense. I enjoyed the view angles and the facial expressions a lot. I'm delighted by this series and it's great that this has been translated into English, since most of the yuri out there is repetition and not really interesting at all. This feels like it was written for girls and not men, so points for that.

@Thanks NetGalley for giving me the access to read the first volume of this manga. I really love reading mangas. The authors are really great creating a new world with new characters like this one. I liked a lot the story. Furthermore, I give 3 stars to this book.

Yori loves to sing and play guitar and while she's a great singer & guitar player, she's so painfully shy, she can't possibly join a band. She fills in for a friend's band when their lead singer is sick on the day of their school's club festival. Himari, an energetic, outgoing, and frankly innocent first year girl, falls head over heels for Yori-- her voice, that is. When the two meet and Himari confesses she "fell in love at first sight" with Yori (again, her voice), Yori confesses right back that she, too fell in love with Himari at first sight.

Yori soon learns that Himari is in love with her singing voice, and not her as a person. She promises Himari that she'll work hard to make Himari fall in love with /her/.

The two develop a friendship through their love of music and their shared interests. Yori constantly tries to make her feelings known to Himari, who might be questioning what feelings she really has towards Yori.

This book is extremely cute and immensely satisfying to read! I already picked up a physical copy & i can't wait for the next ones!

This was an overall cute and youthful read that I recommend to both non-manga, and manga readers. Whisper Me A Love Song is a must read for shoujo manga fans!

I was really excited to read this, so I was disappointed when I finally did read it and just felt kinda meh about it. The cover is cute and the art is wonderful - I really loved it. I also liked the characters of the girls in the band. But I just didn't really care about the two main characters.
I understand what they were going for with Himari but I actually found myself just getting really annoyed by her. It's a fine line between cute and obnoxious and, for me, she was just on the wrong side of it. And Yori was cool but she felt more like an archetype or cardboard cutout than an actual character.
To be fair, this is just the first volume of a series and it's very possible - even probable - that the characters will develop over time. I just didn't see enough potential there for me to be interested in reading the next one to find out.
All that said, I can see why some people did like this, it just wasn't there for me.

Absolutely adorable! Read it all in one sitting and can't wait to read more from this author or series!

First year high-schooler, Himari Kino didn't plan on falling for Yori-senpai, the cool and shy singer of the school rock band, it just kind of happened. And when she saw Yori at her locker later, Himari couldn't help but blurt out her admiration saying, "I fell in love at first sight!"

Shocked and feeling emotions she's never felt before, Yori doesn't know how to react. But the more she thinks about it, she thinks that she's also fallen in love at first sight. And so when the opportunity presents itself, she tells Himari this.

Only to find out that Himari's declaration of love didn't mean the same as Yori's declaration of love. So the question remains... now what?

This is an adorable, fluffy yuri manga. It's sweet and I couldn't stop grinning at just how gosh-darn cute it was. Himari is adorable and I can see why Yori fell hard for her. At the same time, I can see why Himari is just chock full of admiration and growing affection for Yori. They're adorable.

The side characters, especially the members of the band, are hilarious and awesome. I could almost hear certain seiyuu in the roles they felt that real. The artwork is lovely and each character is easily identifiable.

Honestly, this was a perfectly sweet winter read.

Five stars.

This was a cute love story where a girl falls in love with another girl who's performing on stage. Would I say this is the next Given for yuri manga? Not really, but the entire concept is nice and the artwork is very good. I would definitely recommend this for any yuri fans out there! 4/5

Cute book about a high school girl who falls in love with another girl after watching her perform at the school talent show.. Nothing extremely exceptional but it's awfully cute and I really enjoyed the art style.

A charming "love" story. It's nice to see some LGBT representation that I don't feel like goes to far into the fan service world.

But please, please, please tell me that the publishers fixed that really awkward instance of "Fooking lor you, apparently" on page 106-because yikes!

But when Himari realizes that she and her senpai are feeling two different kinds of love, she begins to ask herself what "love" really means...

Thank You Netgalley for providing this ARC manga, it was such a cute, fun read. Rating 3.75 Stars out 5 Stars.

Truthfully, I was captivated by the title and cover art. The art is right up my alley. I haven’t read a Yuri manga in a novel but I thoroughly enjoyed “Whisper Me A Love Song (Vol. 1).” Keep in mind that this manga is categorized in romance, manga, lgbt, music, and contemporary fiction. It’s a cute and romantic manga with a sweet love story. There are some concerns, on my behalf and especially with that cliffhanger, of whether its admiration or love considering it’s love at first sight trope. With the being said, it was a great debut. I cant wait to continue reading the rest of the series.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a free e-copy of this manga in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I’ve never really delved too much into yuri manga or anime before, only having watched one yuri anime and never having read any manga from the genre. When I saw Whisper Me A Love Song on NetGalley, I thought the cover art looked really cute and I was interested in the musical element.

Whisper Me A Love Song follows Himari Kino, a first-year student embarking on her high school journey. At the opening ceremony for the new school year, Himari sees SSGirls, a band comprised of fellow students, with Yori Asanagi filling in on vocals and guitar. When Himari sees Yori, she declares that she has fallen in love at first sight and she is spellbound by Yori’s singing prowess. Bumping into Yori later that day, Himari makes her declaration again, and here is where the misunderstandings begin.

From the early chapter of Whisper Me A Love Song it’s clear that Himari and Yori have different definitions of what ‘love at first sight’ means. Yori, thinking that Himari means she is romantically interested in her, starts to develop matching feelings for Himari – or so she thinks. When Yori and Himari meet later it’s clear Himari meant her declaration as more of an admiration for her senpai rather than anything further. Though slightly put out, Yori rallies and makes her own declaration – she’s going to make Himari “fall in love so hard” with her, and the premise is set.

The characters of Yori and Himari couldn’t be more opposite. The older Yori is reserved, shy and gloomy, where Himari radiates pure sunshine, she’s energetic, cheerful and talks non-stop. Seeing the two interact feels really special and genuine, as they both start to change the more time they spend together.

Whisper Me A Love Song has Yori and Himari spending quality time together, so it’s really nice to see their feelings develop the more time they spend together. Once the girls get past the initial ‘love at first sight’ stage, though both thinking different things, they come to realise they’re interested in each other on a less superficial level and value the time they spend together, which is really wholesome.

What I especially liked about Whisper Me A Love Song is that it doesn’t follow the usual tropes of love stories and misunderstandings. Yori is very straightforward with Himari and tells her often in what way she likes her. Apart from the initial misinterpretation, there’s no time wasted and it gives the story time to focus on the girls’ blossoming relationship and their own character development. Yori takes the time to understand her feelings and then does something about it, which is really refreshing to see.

Volume one of Whisper Me A Love Song was a really great introduction to Yori and Himari, and really got me invested in their relationship. I’m really excited to see where things go for Yori and Himari in future volumes, and whether they’ll finally get on the same page about their feelings.

This was such a cute and adorable Yuri manga! I can’t wait for Vol. 2. The artwork is initially attracted me, but the story was so cute to read. A beautiful love story.
