When the author's name is Lisa Regan, you know there is a good book in your hands. This is the 10th book in the Josie Quinn series. You could read it as a stand alone but you'd have a much better reading experience if you read the first books. The first book in the series, Vanishing Girls, was published in 2018. Ms Regan gives us new series additions pretty quickly and she has several stand alone books in her back library. So the good news is.....if you've never read a Lisa Regan title, you now have some very good reading on your TBR list.

The latest murders have raised many questions and she has few clues, Josie is left following blind and hoping she'll not have more bodies. The characters in this book and the community in which they live have been built in layers that bring us all into the investigations. I couldn't identify the killer before the reveal but enjoyed the mystery as it developed. A good, fast paced, tension filled story that will have you looking for the next book too.

One of my favourite series and this one didn’t disappoint.
Whilst visiting her brother on the local uni campus, Josie finds a girl drowned in the pool - she’s the star of the swimming team, how could this be possible?
Later, former hero fire fighter Clay Walsh seemingly sets fire to his own home with his grand daughters inside.
Josie and the team have a fight on their hands to try and figure out what is happening and who’s behind it.
A brilliant read as ever.

This one was okay - not my favourite in the series! Though a different kind of crime to what i've usually read so i'll give her that!

Detective Josie Quinn goes to visit her brother Patrick at his campus when they soon realize that a young woman has drowned. Josie is more than dismayed when she knows beyond a doubt that the girl is beyond hope. It doesn't take Josie long to realize that the dead girl is a champion swimmer. Did she take her own life or was it an accidental drowning?

When a well-respected fireman apparently sets his house on fire, nearly killing himself and his two granddaughters, Josie immediately sees a link between the college student and the fact that the fireman did start the fire. The clue is clear, but the trail to discovering how the two people were related - as well as other deaths - is not clear.

While Josie is working at a fever pace to stop the murders, she worries for her relationship with fellow officer Noah Fraley. His behavior is odd, but Josie cannot focus on that. Instead, she has to try and stop the murders. Meanwhile, there is an unknown narrator in this story, someone with quite a vendetta and who has the cruelest of intentions.

I found this entry in the Detective Josie Quinn series to be exceptionally thrilling. This was a multi-faceted story which blended Josie's professional and personal life, including her relationship with four-year-old Harris, the son of her deceased husband to whom she was estranged to.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

This is Book 10 of the Josie Quinn series. If you haven’t read the prior books, I highly recommend starting at Book 1. You will not regret it.

The book starts with Josie finding an experienced champion swimmer that drowned. How could that even be possible?! Afterward, a series of weird things start happening in the city of Denton.

But not to worry; Josie is on the case!

This book had a very creative and interesting premise! I did not expect how this story turned out. As usual, it was a brilliant, unputdownable story.

I used to adore police procedurals, and after reading so many of them, I started disliking them. Too often they are slow-burning and predictable, but not this one! This police procedural series is always high-paced, adrenaline-pumping, and emotional!

I say this for every book of this series, but this might be my favorite of them all! The best part of it all was the relationship development; it definitely had me squealing!

I’m so invested in this series at this point, and I highly recommend reading these books if you want to fall in love with the characters and Lisa’s writing! It’s just an excellent series!

Another great read in the Josie Quinn series. Denton is being rocked by a series of unexplained deaths and the police hardly know where to start to find the killer. The identity of this callous murderer and the reasoning behind the deaths will leave you reeling. I love the way this author includes ordinary day to day events like Josie's brother leaving a red top in her washing machine and dyeing all her shirts pink in her stories. I think this makes the characters seem more real and gives you a better insight into their personalities. All in all this is another solid 5 star book from Lisa Regan.

It is unbelievable that this is the tenth book on the series featuring Detective Josie Quinn and is another excellent book in the series. Josie discovers the body of a teenage girl, Nysa Somers, lying face down in the swimming pool at Denton university. She recognises her as a champion swimmer so how could she have drowned? On investigating her death Josie soon realises that this was murder. Nysa’s backpack is found near the campus with a cryptic note that reads ‘be a mermaid’. The following day Josie is called out to a house fire at the home of a former firefighter. His granddaughters were in the house and had a narrow escape but told Josie that their Grandad’s last words were ‘be a match’. Josie then has to discover the connection between these two cases and when she gets a lead to the possible killer she realises that the plot is more complicated with more suspects. This is an exciting and dramatic read, with tension rising as the investigation reaches it’s dramatic ending. It had me totally hooked and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

The new vulnerability shown by Josie in the previous book takes firmer shape in this one. Josie and Misty have formed a camaraderie that balances. It’s not always easy, but they work off of each other, almost a yin and yang to each other. The case at hand is interesting too. I liked the cryptic nature of the notes around the victims. This went along with how Josie found the sticker on the bag in the first case. I’m not saying anything more about the case than that. But it’s a good one. And I constantly admire how original the investigations are. Kudos to the author on that. It’s never boring. The other thing the author does well is give us insight into the killer’s mind and motivations. Josie keeps evolving and I’ll keep reading. For a full review, please visit Fireflies and Free Kicks. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a digital ARC of the book.

An experienced swimmer drowned,a retired fireman's jome ablaze and Noah acting very withdrawn quiet and secretive

Once more we are drawn into Detective Josie Quinns investigation and face a rollercoaster read to discover who is committing such heinous crimes

Five star read

This book really kept me on my toes. Every time I thought I knew who the killer was Josie found something or figured something out and I had to reevaluate. These are the best books, the ones where you’re constantly guessing and kept on the edge of your seat desperate to solved the mystery. Excellent story!

Detective Josie Quinn is one of my favorite detectives, so I was delighted to read this new installment for Netgalley. I was not at all disappointed, since I was engrossed in the story from the beginning. An insidious killer seems to be using some kind of mind-altering drug to get people to do the unexpected, dying in the most unusual and personal circumstances. When a champion swimmer drowns, Josie is invested in finding the killer since she was on the scene and tried desperately to rescue Nysa. The killer is coldly planning one kill after another and Josie seems to be one step behind him. Her live-in partner, Noah, has distanced himself from Josie and is not responding to her calls or her desire to talk things out. With a killer on the loose, Josie doesn’t have time to worry about what is going on with Noah, but that is definitely an undercurrent and an intriguing sub-plot in the story. I enjoyed how Josie unraveled the clues and followed them doggedly to a satisfactory conclusion. Fans of Josie Quinn will not want to miss this one!

WELL DONE!! This may be my favorite of the series. Because I’m totally invested in the characters, this one affected me differently. There was one point that I dropped my Kindle and gasped, covering my eyes. My reaction shocked me too! This was gripping and adrenaline laced. It was pieced together so well and I loved it! My thanks to the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Rating edit: 3.5 Stars.

My second book by the author (I read and liked Finding Claire Fletcher). I didn't realize this book was the 10th book in the series but it didn't affect my reading experience. It can be read as a standalone novel.

I liked the writing. Liked the characters. It's engrossing and unpredictable, just I got a little impatient towards the end, too dramatic, I felt.

Overall, a nice, interesting read.
