A great story to show children that even if you don't get things right first time, with a bit of practise and training you can always get there eventually.

This book is about a little boy who struggles academically. His "fantabulous brain' teaches him strategies that will help him in school. Some of the strategies listed are great! I'm not sure if the "Brain Training" the author discusses is a specific program children reading the book may not have access to. There is no evidence that out of context tasks improve performance on academic tasks.

I did like this book but because of the mention of the specific program I would not buy it for my students

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A great story about a student having trouble in school, but once he takes on training his brain to learn the right ways we feels much better about learning. It will normalize getting help learning for students.

I thought this book was a lovely story to show children of young age that not everything is as easy as it may seem and that sometimes you just have to work and try that bit harder!

Julie really gives an understanding that sometimes children need help and not all children are the same. Some need to work a little harder to get there, some are better at one thing whereas another child is better at something else. I really like the child friendly tone in this books and simple yet affective explanations to help children understand! I also found the book to be appealing to young children as there were lots of bright and beautiful illustrations

I also really like the ‘note to parents and educators( at the back of the book aswell as the mini word challenge? I would recommend this book :)

This is an excellent storybook for young children who have difficulty learning new skills like math and reading. In a simplistic way, the author shows us how we can overcome these obstacles by training our brain to do better. It even has quick exercises at the end.

Wade has trouble studying and feels like giving up. Things just do not come as easily to him as other students. His Fantabulous Brain shows up and uses tools from the "Brain Toolbox" to give Wade's brain a tune-up to make learning more effective. The adorable illustrations depicted Wade's transformation from frustrated to confident really well. The story occasionally slipped out of rhyming verse which was confusing for my grandchildren to read. Overall, though, they heartily enjoyed it. They were encouraged that learning challenges, which many children struggle with in one area or more, do not mean a student is not intelligent and that a different approach may enable them to conquer that challenge. It was especially helpful for the author to include learning games and links for helpful resources.

In today society of virtual learning it’s hard to engage the students. The colorful pictures in this book in the rhyming sentences are perfect my students remaiNed attentive and really enjoyed this book.

My Fantabulous brain is an (at least partly) rhyming story about a child who struggles with homework and gets advice from his own fantabulous brain and a program involving intense brain training. The author's father developed one such program. I love children's books that help kids deal with their problems in a constructive way but I guess this one is most useful for the children who have access to the brain training that the author advocates for, or at least some other learning disability resources, to help motivate them work with the program. . Children who are left to their own devices aren't going to be too happy to hear that brain trainers they will never meet might be able to solve their problems.

So, this book could be great but only for a limited audience.
