This is such a cute book on positive thinking. It’s beautifully illustrated and kept my daughter’s attention the whole way through.

Pretty good book for those is us affected by the weather idk how appealing this is for a child but it might be good for some kids. The illustrations are good.

Extremely cute picture book for kindergarteners. The illustrations are adorable, with beautiful colours, and many details my son pointed at. I've become a big fan of the illustrator and will sure follow his work. Weather books, and overcoming frustration and bad mood are great themes for little ones, so many things irritate them when they have little control over their world. The "go-getter" message of the book is wonderful and sure to energise and encourage little explorers to come out even on those days they are more reluctant.

This is the perfect book to read during this fall season. It has been gloomy and rainy quite a bit of time, so I just love reading books like this. Plus, rainy days always look way more fun in books. :P

Meet Wallow the bear, aptly named because he likes to wallow and is quite gloomy. One day he wants to go out... but then it starts to rain. He quickly flees inside his house again, only for the rain to go harder and harder. And he just gets angrier and angrier. I could kind of understand his feelings though. When I was a kid I loved the rain and going outside, but when you get older and HAVE to cycle through it to go to work or school you just lose the fun of it.
But I was happy that Wallow has a tiny friend who still knows the joy of rain and is able to tell and show Wallow what sorts of fun things they can do while it rains. I loved seeing both of them have so much fun in the rain. Jumping in puddles, making dams, boats, and more.

I do have a question. Who makes their bed ABOVE the kitchen/furnace? That seems to just ask for a fire hazard right there.

Be sure to also keep an eye on other creatures, like the squirrels. :)

The art in this book is just AMAZING. I LOVE LOVE the style. Yes, I have to put that in capslock as I was just so impressed and wow-ed by the prettiness of it all. So many details, lovely colour use, and more. I want more of this illustrator's work.

The ending made me very happy! It was such a sweet ending.

A Beary Rainy Day is a beautifully illustrated picture book touching on how to encourage positive thinking in a seemingly hopeless situation. In this story, we meet Wallow, a bear who becomes increasingly agitated and despondent when surrounded by the gloomy rainy weather. Wallow can't seem to shake his bad mood and decided to go to bed and sleep it off. While in bed, he hears a little sound of laughter that catches his curiosity and brings him outside. Ultimately ending up with Wallow learning to look through the stormy day to find a way to latch on to positivity.

The artwork really leads the story. It is captivatingly lovely and engaging. The color palette and gentleness perfectly conveys a beautiful but melancholy filled day. The only thing that held me back from a 5-star here is that the alternating rhyme catches on your tongue when you read it aloud. It's just a smidge off in the words, for us anyways, and it made some of the pages a bit harder to keep the lyrical rhythm up.

My 4.5 year old sidekick's views: "I am so happy the bear started to like playing in the rain. It made me so happy that he saw it can be fun even when it's raining. And the pictures are SO GOOD MAMA. Can we read it again?"

This book has very engaging pictures, but the text leaves something to be desired. The story has good intentions about the power of positive thinking, but I wouldn't use this at story time. The text is broken up awkwardly on the page which makes for jutting reading.

Such a fun little story about attitude and perspective. Very charming illustrations and beautifully written words.

Firstly, I want to say that I’m a huge fan of illustrated books, not only for kids but also for all people. In this case I fell in love with illustrations, they are really beautiful and I believe that they are the perfect companion for the text.

Talking about the story of the book, I think that it’s so interesting how it shows that we need to go out even when the time is gloomy. It is not only a good representation of the feeling to the people when the weather is awful, also it’s a perfect representation of some of these diseases that keep our bodies on standy.

It’s a perfect book from the little boys and girls, also a wonderful reading for adults that they can look at more than the surface.

This was a cute book about a bear who doesn’t like the rain and his quest to embrace all seasons. The illustrations were beautiful, and the characters were relatable. This would make a great read for young children.

A lovely story about how a mood can be transient if you just let yourself see someone else's perspective. The illustrations were lovely shades of blue and grey at the beginning, to reflect Wallow's mood, and became sunnier and more playful as Wallow's disposition changed. This would be a great book to read to children who are reticent to play in the rain.

A quick story , with rhyming verses, and cute illustrations to keep a child interested throughout.
Nice little story behind it - would appeal to a lot of children of most ages.

A reasonable piece, with a blue bear very reluctant to leave his cave for the outside world when it's pouring with rain. But seeing as he's a moody old thing anyway, how can he survive a day being, well, bluer than normal, and not getting any fun under his belt? I guess this will go some way to letting a young child feel assured that getting caught in the rain is no permanent hardship, and that play outside on a wet day is still a possibility. But I do think the rather stylised side to the illustrations (telling their own story, of some thieving squirrels) might actually get in the way of the message, and the effort put into making this a rhyming text might be a little wasted, considering how clumsy it reads at times. Three and a half stars, though.

With quirky and charming illustrations, this rhyming story of a bear who gets sad when it rains. But the story is really about seeing past the problem you perceive and finding the positive in a situation.
