Well this isn’t a terrible read but it didn’t have me fully gripped either. The pace was steady throughout the book and never picked up. The obvious clues were missed by the main character. I didn’t see some of the surprises coming but it wasn’t until the end of the book.

BA Paris really is an artist! Another great thriller with plenty of twists and turns. Great style of writing and a fabulous storyline.

What is it about a good psychological thriller, eh? It’s like a tub of Pringles. Once you start you just can’t stop! It’s like a literary vortex that sucks a reader out of oblivion and into this maelstrom of intrigue, twists and turns, secrets and deceits until your head is spinning with the speed at which you’re trying to read, to find out just what the hell is going on! Oh, but that’s only if it’s a good one. If it’s not it’s as big a disappointment as finding out that someone’s eaten all the green triangles from a tub of Quality Street. I know what you’re going to ask me now. You’re going to ask me if this is a good one aren’t you? OH MY GOODNESS, YES! YES! YES! What? You don’t believe me? Go ahead and read it. See for yourself.

I’m going to throw my hands up now and admit this is the first B A Paris book I’ve read. It’s all my loss. If her back catalogue is anything like this then my TBR pile is going to be very one-sided. I loved it. I couldn’t put it down. I suspected everybody including Alice herself. Whoops! Is that a spoiler? I hope not. But no matter. I don’t think anything could spoil this book.

It’s very clever. And without wishing to give anything away the book is as much about manipulating the reader into thinking a certain way as it is about the story itself. That’s another of the aspects of psychological thrillers that I love. The way the writer is trying to get you to think one way and sometimes you just go willingly, without realising it. Sometimes there’s a bit of rebellion, a bit of resistance as you say no, no, no, I’m not going to be fooled this time. Ha ha! but you often are. I also enjoy a psychological thriller that isn’t edge of the seat action but subtle twists and turns that creates such a crescendo of unease that, in this case, you might find yourself requiring the services of a therapist afterwards!

Alice was a well-defined character and we enjoy all proceedings from her perspective. We feel her deflation at the betrayals and the snubs. We feel her elation as she seem to make progress in her investigation. We are engaged and we are rooting for her. We want her to seek out the truth. But we also want to warn her when we can see danger. And although the danger might not have been obvious from the start once you realise you just want to protect Alice. The other characters present themselves as if they’re tokens on a Cluedo board. They seem to materialise at salient moments. Or, conversely, they are conspicuous by their absence at others. And we scrutinise them as Alice does to see if we can somehow find the truth.

It’s a capable and professional piece of work. It’s what you would expect from an experienced writer. Somebody who knows their craft inside out and - understands their readers. As a reader I keep reaching the stage where I think the psychological thriller has had its day. Are there any more plots and scenarios that can in any way engage today’s discerning reader? And then along comes a book like this that has you feverishly turning the pages and you know the genre is alive and well.

An excellent psychological thriller set in a gated community in London. Great sense of mystery and pace, with absolutely gripping plot. Whilst slightly implausible in parts, I nevertheless thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gritty, thrilling and kept me guessing, really enjoyed this book! Very along the lines of a Lisa Jewell novel, kept me up to the small hours of the morning!

First time reading B A Paris. An enjoyable read with plenty of twists and turns. I thought I had it figured out to start with but turned out to be wrong until nearer to the end. Will definitely be reading more by this author

My first book by this author. It was a compelling story, but I found the prose a little 'clunky' at times and slow. I was surprised as it's described as a Sunday Times best seller.

Lots of twists and turns although slightly predictable. Well worth a read if you’re into thrillers. It’s a perfect summer read!

Another interesting and entertaining story from B.A Paris. Plenty of twists and turns but not my favourite.

Another BA Paris book that is one to read. I enjoyed the few twists that were put in the book and enjoyed the story overall. It is definitely one for the B A Paris fans.

Twists and turns aplenty. I could not put this book down.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for the opportunity to read this.

Excellent.
Highly enjoyable read, with big emotional undertones.
Full of mystery with highly likeable characters, with twists you would not imagine coming.
Would highly recommend to all.

Having previously enjoyed almost all of B A Paris books, I have to say this was probably one of my least favorite. I'll admit I didn't see the ending coming at all but I also didn't enjoy it. I found it a bit anticlimactic and some parts of the plot confusing.

Quick and entertaining thriller. I look forward to B.A Paris' next book as I'm sure it will be just as good

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange of my honest opinion.

I have read every single book by B.A Paris - my favourite so far is Behind Closed Doors - so I don’t know why it took me so long to get around this one! It has been in my Kindle library for over a year and I don’t understand why because this book is so good!

The story caught my attention straight away! It had some weird vibe going on and I was all up for some good mystery!

In ‘The therapist’ we follow Alice, that has just recently moved into The Circle, a very posh and elite neighbourhood in London. The Circle is formed by 12 houses, and so when Alice and her boyfriend Leo prepare some welcome drinks to get to know their neighbours, some weird things start to happen!

'The Therapist' is a fast-paced thriller, perfect for fans of J.P Delaney, Alice Feeney and Clare Mackintosh. This read will, for sure, keep you intrigued and guessing what could have happened until the end!

A very recommendable read!

This was tense! Its the second B A Paris book I have read and wont be the last. Anything that has someone feeling unsafe in their home has me feeling thoroughly creeped out!

A page turner but not particularly gripping.

Alice and Leo move into a renovated house in The Circle. A gated community. This is everything that Alice and Leo have ever wanted.
Alice gets to know the neighbours, she finds an obsession with Nina, a therapist who lived in this house before.

This is told over two timelines and has twists and turns a-plenty but fairly predictable.

I've read other books by this author that were more enjoyable.

For me this was a solid 3 star read - it kept me engaged and a little intrigued but it didn't have the extra umph to make it anything more. I wasn't gripped when reading nor was I thinking about it when I had to put it down.

Perhaps I was expecting too much as B.A Paris' 'Behind Closed Doors' is one of THE best psychological thillers I've ever read - This is a well written, enjoyable, quick read - but, for me, not earth shattering.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and give my honest review
