A good storyline that will keep you gripped, with a new couple moving into a gated exclusive housing community and finding out that there are secrets and lies behind each front door. Alice is a bit random in her actions and assumptions and lots of leaps of faith need to be taken, as with most thrillers, but this one kept me gripped to the end. I had my suspicions but all the red herrings and twists and turns kept me guessing and it was a satisfying end to a right good read.

Another great BA Paris book. 4.5 star rating from me. I enjoyed the storyline and once again BA Paris keeps the twists and turns coming. What you think is the big reveal at the end turns out to be a web of reveals. Great book.

I don't know what it was that stopped me from enjoying this story but I just didn't. I just wasn't into it and couldn't understand Alison's obsession.

I love B A Paris books and this was no different! It was a light thriller that was fast paced and easy to follow.

I love B A Paris,

I gobbled this book up in a day.

Set in a gated community of twelve houses, everything appears normal and calm on the surface.

Gradually the cracks begin to appear, lies, secrets, nosy neighbours and stalking,

This book has it all!

Highly recommended!

I always look forward to reading a new B.A. Paris novel and was excited when I received an early copy of The Therapist to read. Once I got started it was hard to put down and I read it in a day. I love good story with secrets, trying to work out who was telling the truth. There were plenty of liars in this one and it kept me guessing.

Alice and Leo have been in a long distance relationship for sometime now. When Leo buys a new home in the gated community of The Circle, in London, Alice is excited to start a new chapter of her life and make friends with her neighbours. But not everything is as it seems and she soon learns a dark secret about her new home and its previous owner. She soon finds herself obsessed with finding out what happened and who knows the truth.

A real page turner of a psychological/domestic thriller.

Twisted and cery dark, darker than I was expecting but not at all what I expected. I was thinking it was going to be a run of the mill psychological thriller and I think it's anything but. There are a lot of characters in it and I love the complexities of the situations, the social awkwardness and a desire to be accepted. I also really love trying ot figure out what everyone motives were and what kind of person they were and if she should really trust them or not. I'll, be honest too and say I didn't see it panning out like that. I hate it when people advertise a book with "twists you dont see coming" and "Dark thriller full of twists" becuase then you end up reading it waiting for the twist and trying to guess what it is instead of being truly immersed in the story. I read this one fast, devoured it and loved the ending! Thoroughly recoomend it to anyone who likes dark thrillers.

Wow, wow, wow! I was honestly so hooked, I binged this book. Right from the beginning I couldn’t put it down.

The twists and turns had me second-guessing every character in the book and I was wrong right up to the end. I never guessed it would’ve been the character it was but round of applause to BA Paris for this, this was a wildly amazing goose chase.

One of my favourite reads this month, I highly recommend. Thank you to B A Paris and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

It’s a top notch thriller from B A Paris. I was completely absorbed by the situation Alice finds herself in. She already has issues of guilt and isolation from her past when she finds herself embroiled in a murder case that has raised questions in her new social circle, a gated community in the heart of London. She trusts the wrong people but, then again, does she?

It’s tense and pacy and also offers psychological and emotional content that makes the reader empathise with the characters. I recommend it as a very compelling psychological thriller.

My thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins for the opportunity to read this book.

This is my first BA Paris book, but it won't be a last. This twisty story told by a seemingly naive but cleverly flawed protagonist, kept me guessing until the last page. Brilliantly written. A resounding five stars!

BA Paris is a bit hit and miss for me. I loved Behind Closed Doors. The Breakdown has been on my TBR pile for ages after hearing nothing but good things. I absolutely hated The Dilemma, possibly more than any book I've ever read. So I was a bit hesitant to give The Therapist a go, but I thought hey, lets have one more go. And I am so glad I did.

I genuinely really enjoyed this book. Which I'm a bit surprised at, after the intense reaction I had to her last book. Yes, Alice was a bit of an idiot at times, but I quickly found myself gripped by the mystery of what happened to Nina and the truth behind the mystery of The Circle. There was a lot of tension built up throughout, and the final reveal left me genuinely shocked at who the real villain of the piece was. So all in all, I'm very impressed - a chilling tale with enough twists and turns to keep your interest, and a jaw dropping final scene.

Disclaimer - I was fortunate enough to be provided with an advance reading copy of this book by NetGalley. This has not affected my review in any way, and all opinions are my own.

The story is set in 'The Circle' - a new build gated community in the heart of London. Hidden away from the hustle and madness of the city the residents are a close knit group. All can see each others front doors and can see who comes and goes. Alice moves into The Circle and finds out a huge secret that has been kept from her regarding the last tenants. Strange things then begin to happen as she strives to find out what really happened. Suspicion, lies, closed friendships makes for a tense, twisty read with lots of suspects. A gripping story and completely unexpected ending. A great read.

Alice and Leo buy a house in The Circle ready to start out on their life together but something feels not quite right about the house. It unnerves Alice who sets out on a quest to discover what happened there . Discovering it was the murder of Nina and the subsequent suicide of her husband Oliver and these facts haunt her. In her quest she finds secrets kept by Leo and must face her own insecurities based on her past.
This book was not as griping for me as previous ones and I did actually decide who was the murderer . The characters were perhaps a little two dimensional.

The Therapist is one of my favourite books of this year.

It's creepy and unnerving in parts, the writing is compelling, and I really didn't know who to trust, who to believe.

The girl who used to live in Alice's house was called Nina and Alice becomes obsessed with her as her own sister was also called Nina.

Some of the situations Alice's finds herself were a little bit scary as I was reading it on my own at night, and I wondered if Alice's mind was playing tricks on her. This was typical of the way the story was written, it kept me questioning everything and everyone.

The pacing was perfect, the characters were believable, there were secrets and lies, it was tense and twisty, and the overall story kept me glued to the pages.

Definitely one to recommend!

Thanks to Netgalley and HQ for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Alice and her boyfriend Leo move into a new house in a gated community. It turns out that the woman who used to live there was a therapist that was murdered, presumably by her husband, who later committed suicide. But strange things start happening and Alice starts doubting whether the husband was really guilty.

After really disliking the previous novel from this author I was not that eager to embark on this one, but thankfully it was a huge improvement. I was engaged in the story and wanting to know what happened. As with all of this author's novels, there was too much rehashing of the narrator's feelings, but other than that I liked it and I definitely didn't see the ending coming. It was a bit farfetched but I can live with that.

I have loved every book by this author. The stories always keep me guessing until the last pages and I really like how the characters behave. All too often, characters do things that you think no-one would ever really do in real life but I rarely find this to be the case in B A Paris' books.

I don't want to say anything much about the story as, beyond the blurb, it isn't needed and could risk ruining the excitement.

I really hope that some of the author's books are adapted for television as I think they'd be amazing. Film length would be too short as the detail and complexity of the plots would need more time.

This is such a clever author and I can't wait to see what comes next.

B A Paris writes books that within pages consume you and The Therapist is on another level all together. The ball has been knocked right out of the park with this one, it lived up to all the hype and then some. It gripped, it enthralled, it captured my imagination and played with my sanity. As I read I questioned myself and was consumed with self doubt, I frightened myself half to death on more than one occasion, my heart beating inside my mouth, I couldn’t breathe with fear. Reading The Therapist with the lights off, curled up in bed perhaps wasn’t my best idea, it certainly helped to ramp up the tension - I really should have known better!

Oh my goodness, imagine you’ve been conducting a long distance relationship only able to see your partner on the weekend because of work arrangements and then deciding to take the plunge, to make a commitment, move your life, lock stock and barrel from the countryside to London to move in with your partner - that’s what Alice did! She and Leo move into a house he had bought after selling his London flat. The house is in The Circle. It’s a gated street, secured with pin code entry, with each of the exclusive houses circled around pretty, communal gardens. Perfection, Alice couldn’t be happier and is so excited. She can’t wait to make friends with all the neighbours and make a home with Leo.

Alice works from home as a translator and is going to be home alone during the week for the first few weeks as Leo is working away. As she tries to settle down to work, she finds herself distracted, glimpsing various neighbours throughout the week as they go about their business. She’s desperate to make friends whereas Leo wants to take things slower, settle in first and get used to living together. But, against Leo’s wishes she organises a house warming for when he’s due home at the weekend and has invited all the neighbours, not telling him til the invitations are issued. Most of which accept straightaway - at this point alarm bells were ringing for me, why was Leo so reticent?

Following what was a very enjoyable evening, with the house teeming with neighbours Alice gets a visitor - it’s the second time she’s met him, he was at their house-warming. She’s surprised to find out he’s not who she thought he was - that fact and what he tells her totally floors her. She’s seriously rattled. Her new home, relationship and life is shook to its very foundations. She doesn’t know what to think, nor who to trust and what secrets does her new home hold?

I had that sick nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach which intensified the more I read. B A Paris completely messed with my mind in the same way she did with that of Alice. Imagine being told something so awful that centred around the previous occupant of your new home and to find out your partner knew and hadn’t told you why? The whole book felt like a game of cat and mouse throughout, and I was seriously rattled. The author used all of the senses to heighten the intensity of the narrative - she really did play with my mind way beyond the written word or any imagined situation making it incredibly difficult to think clearly.

As Alice started to obsessively research the previous occupants of the house I found my my anxiety levels rising. A shocking discovery had sent Alice into sleuth mode. With every page I turned I found myself absorbed further into Alices life and those of her fledgling new friendships. At times I lost complete sight of reality, I was anxious and afraid, there was a visceral reality of the words I read - I trusted no-one and constantly sat back to try and take stock, there were so many questions rattling round my brain, so many things that didn’t quite stack up - who should Alice trust, what secrets were being kept? What did the neighbours know that they weren’t telling? There were so many secrets. The Therapist is totally engaging the clues led me on a merry dance, it was difficult to differentiate between real and imagined occurrences. I never even came close to fully unravelling the plot - and even now it has ended the story is still spinning around inside my head, I’m shocked, shook to the core.

This was a totally outstanding read, the intensity was almost too much to bear - culminating in an ending that was incredibly difficult to read. I was in that macabre situation where you’re desperate to read on because you know it’ll be over and your heart rate can slow, yet at the same time wanting to close the book and not read the words that couldn’t then be un-read. Another outstanding read, B A Paris gets better and better with every book.

This is the second book written by B.A. Paris that I have had the pleasure to read. Thank you NetGalley and HQ for the opportunity. If you are looking for a gripping plot that will keep you thinking long after you have stopped reading then you do not want to miss out on this book. There are many twists and turns which will leave you second guessing yourself every step of the way. By the end you will trust no one!

Alice and her boyfriend Leo move into a beautiful new house in a luxury gated community. Alice is keen to make friends but Leo wants to keep himself to himself. I really enjoyed the dynamic of their relationship and the way in which it developed, it made a nice change from the usual married couple slant. Secrets abound in this story and when the first one is revealed the cracks begin to show in relationships, new found friendships and even personalities.

I would highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by the author.

Alice has moved from her cottage in an East Sussex village to live with boyfriend Leo in a gated community in the heart of London.

She is shocked to discover that Nina, a previous occupant of their house was murdered by her husband. She feels betrayed when she discovered that Leo knew and kept it from her.

All of her neighbours seem to accept that Nina's husband was the killer but, as Alice digs deeper, all may not be as it seems.

This novel by B A Paris leaves you guessing until the end!

The Therapist is one of those books that has you looking over your shoulder constantly. I couldn’t sleep because I wanted to read more or maybe it just made me scared to close my eyes. It was chilling to say the least.

Alice and Leo are new to the exclusive gated community of The Circle in the heart of London. After living in a little cottage previously and only seeing Leo at weekends Alice has some adjusting to do.

Fitting in is all Alice can think about it until she discovers a grisly secret about the former occupant of the house and now all she can think about is Nina the former occupant.

Alice wants to discover more but the neighbours are unwilling to talk, and Alice could be putting herself in danger.

“It’s very pretty here, like a movie set depicting an enviable life in the capital city. I didn’t really believe places like this existed until Leo showed me the photos, and even then, it had felt too good to be true.”

The Therapist was gripping and definitely displays the author at her best.
