A great series, always good for teaching young minds about influential (and sometimes lesser well-known) influential people. And I often learn something too!

John Lennon by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is another release in the Little People, Big Dreams series, which I have reviewed frequently on here. I just love these little books. They are always packed with facts about the person who they are writing about and full of colourful illustrations throughout.

This book is about John Lennon's life, and what a man he was. John formed a band while still in school, he couldn’t have known they were about to change music forever. With their exciting new sounds, rebel attitudes and gift for songwriting, everyone went crazy for The Beatles.
Today, John is remembered not just as a musical icon, but as a champion of world peace. This inspiring book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the legendary Beatles life.

John Lennon will always Live in our house and his music is loved by so many people.

I found this little book full of easy to read, with great Illustrations throughout this small book.
It's one you should definitely buy for your little readers so they can learn about this wonderful Rock Star.
I am so glad these books are being published and I highly recommend all of these books

Another wonderful offering in the Little People Big Dreams series, detailing John Lennon's life from his early childhood to his phenomenal musical success as a member of The Beatles and with his wife Yoko Ono. Even as an adult reader there was something new for me to learn and for young music enthusiasts this is a great child-friendly biography with information on how you can learn more.

I wasn’t born until 1980 so missed out on Beatlemania and the incredible talents and musings of John Lennon. That said, Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ remains one of my favourite ever songs and I always love listening to ‘So This Is Christmas’ when December comes around.

Born and raised in the city of music, Liverpool, John was introduced to music and instruments at a young age. His mum bought him his first guitar and taught him how to play the banjo and piano. Despite not being the model student at school, John always showed potential for the arts and he was soon performing at the Cavern club with his good friend Paul. After releasing their first single, Love Me Do, John and The Beatles never looked back, they were global superstars.

There was more to The Beatles than John Lennon though. He was an advocate for a better world and a world where peace and tolerance could thrive. He and his wife Yoko campaigned for peace, leading their own protests and they wrote beautiful songs that would be sung around the world by people protesting against war.

Even in the most troubling of times, John Lennon taught everyone that there is always hope for a better world, a brighter future and more peaceful times; messages and sentiments that are so important, necessary and relevant in the world of today.

Delightfully illustrated with bright and bold artwork and with a story told in short and simple sentences, this is a wonderful read about a man who was part of one of the biggest bands ever and his ideas for a more peaceful and kind world. At the back of the the book there is a short overview of his life which includes key facts and dates and a historical timeline featuring photographs.

A wonderful read about the boy from Liverpool who dreamed of peace and who was part of one of the earliest boybands that achieved global fame.

Recommended for 5+.

This is another great addition to the "Little People Big Dreams" series. I love the idea of educating and inspiring children through these biographies, as each book aims to teach something to the reader. I like that John Lennon now has his own book. I enjoyed reading his story, from his childhood with his aunt, getting through school and finally starting a band with friends. I especially like the advocating for peace. I very much enjoyed the story and the beautiful illustrations.

The exceptional Little People, BIG DREAMS series prides itself on providing child-friendly biographies of renowned public figures and celebrities and in this, the fifty-second book in the series, we explore the life and times of one of the most prominent and well-known activists and boy band members in history, John Lennon. Despite being one of the most famous and inspirational entertainers on the planet having achieved incredible things, it's important to remember that he started life out in life as just a child with a dream. This potted biography runs from his birth (1940), early years in Liverpool and the beginning of his love affair with music through to the first big hit of his music career with The Beatles, as well as his promotion of peace and tolerance alongside Yoko Ono, a message still so necessary today.

What's impressive is there is just enough here to enable a child to become curious yet not enough to overwhelm, and the colourful, fun illustrations courtesy of Octavia Bromell complement the text perfectly. It's an educational and entertaining read that empowers young ones to pursue their dreams without limits and inspires children to dream bigger and realise their fullest potential, by introducing them to extraordinary people throughout history. It's a wonderfully engaging and simple to understand book that also helps kids with literacy and fosters an enjoyment of reading. You simply cannot go wrong with this series in general as everything is executed perfectly and tailored beautifully to youngsters. Highly recommended. Many thanks to Frances Lincoln Children's Books for an ARC.

My thanks to Quarto Publishing Group - Francis Lincoln Children’s Books for a temporary digital edition via NetGalley of ‘John Lennon’, written by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and illustrated by Octavia Bromell, in exchange for an honest review.

This little book is intended for children aged 4-7 and is part of its publishers acclaimed ‘Little People, BIG DREAMS’ series that introduces young readers to the lives and works of significant people including musicians, artists, scientists, writers, political figures and the like via books and educational games.

I found this a moving tribute to John Lennon and once again felt that Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara had skilfully captured the essence of Lennon’s life in a few pages. Given the age of its intended readership she is naturally sensitive about the end of his life. I was especially moved by the depiction of the first meeting between John and Yoko.

In addition, I found Octavia Bromell’s artwork delightful and full of charm. Another excellent addition to this popular series.

Overall, a highly recommended book and series for parents and librarians.

I absolutely adore the Little People, Big Dreams series and this book, focusing on John Lennon, did not disappoint. Filled with glorious illustrations, these texts are a fabulous springboard for classroom discussion. I love how they cover such a broad range of famous faces, from scientists to musicians.

The story of John Lennon gives a brief overview of the life of this famous musician, and of the morales of the man behind the music. I love how sixties in style and colour the illustrations are. I also liked how the book focused more on the man than the musician, giving us more background about his life before the Beatles than information about his work in the band. His death is dealt with sensitively, in a manner that allows for more open-ended discussion with older pupils.

I will be using this book as part of my Person of the Week work in a Year 5 classroom and think it would be a welcome addition to any school bookshelf. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

It's always fun in these child-friendly short biographies to see pictures you recognize, and in this case, we have quite a lot of them, from the Abbey Road cover to the scene with John and Yoko Ono in bed.

I didn't know about the toilet seat and I am sure it will make children giggle.
This would be a cool way to interest your toddler in the music you love.

We have really enjoyed other biographies in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series, so when Netgalley and Quarto Publishing gave us the chance to preview this new title, we said yes please!
This book describes the life of John Lennon, the boy from Liverpool who dreamed of peace. John Lennon is famous around the world for his music, being part of The Beetles and his hopes for World peace.
As a boy, he loved music and art. While still at school, John formed a band but then he met Paul McCartney and they changed music forever. They were a brilliant songwriting pair. The Beatles were loved all over the world.
The book has simple text and colourful illustrations suitable for younger readers. We also like the facts at the back (a biographical timeline, historical photos and a detailed profile of his life) which give the extra details that older readers might want to know about.

This is another great book to add to the Little People, Big Dreams collection!

I love this series as they are perfect introductions to young people about some of the most famous and influential people from our past and present and are also a reminder about how these people have also changed our history.

5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended and can't wait for my daughter to get involved in the series - my husband loves John Lennon so this will be one that he will enjoy reading with her too!
