Have the tissues ready!!

For anyone that's ever felt left out or anxious at going to a party, The Sad Ghost Club is for you my friend.
Doesn't matter if you're 16 and worried about your first boy-girl party or late 20's and inexplicably dreading a gathering with a bunch of people you don't know that well, this is such a cute reminder that you're not alone!

Simple, gorgeous drawings that fit the story perfectly and don't detract from the importance of what's being said.
(Fell in love with the illustration INSTANTLY by the way, sure so many others will too).

Any story with a cat in is an instant win for me.

I might consider myself a 'grown-up' but this had me crying like a toddler and I'm 11/10 not ashamed. We all need a bit of self-love and to find our fellow sad ghosts.

Lovely story, a sweet and gentle look at mental health issues.
The illustrations were simple and worked beautifully with the narrative.

This graphic novel is a fantastic read. Heartfelt, gentle, and capturing exactly that feeling that we've all had at one time or another (more and more often lately for a lot of people): that nothing matters, there's no point, and it's too much effort even to try.

Our two characters have different opinions about almost everything, but ... spoiler! ... they're ALLOWED to have different opinions about almost everything. Neither one is talked around to the other's point of view; they just accept it and move on. It's refreshing to see them being allowed to keep their individuality.

I loved the illustration style, gentle and soft while still showing us everything we needed to know. I'll be coming back to this book just to enjoy the pictures. (Warning; my proof copy did not render properly in Kindle, but I'm sure that will be fixed for the official release.)

This is a book that everyone should read, no matter how long ago your teen years were. It'll have something to say to you.

I think The Sad Ghost Club is relatable for a lot of people. Even if you don’t have anxiety then you will know those moments when you’re utterly alone amongst other people with no idea of how to interact or days where everything is just too much. I think especially at present a lot of the feelings expressed by the characters are sympathetic to all of us.

The illustrations are straightforward, and the panels clean and easy to follow. This book is more about the story for me and I think most readers would have a similar experience.

I read The Sad Ghost Club in one sitting. I liked that the main “ghost” came to realise that they are not alone and that while feelings can be similar, they are not alike. Sometimes books dealing with depression or anxiety have a very singular viewpoint and this one isn’t like that.

Saw so many people talking about this on Twitter that I had to request it! I love the style of illustration and the message that you are not alone. Proud to be a member of The Sad Ghost Club and will happily recommend this to teens looking for a little pick-me-up.

As someone who suffered with anxiety and depression I found myself relating to this book in so many ways, I often question my everyday choices and panic much like SG in the book. I feel that as a whole this book will not only help those who also have anxiety and depression but also help those who aren't sure whats going on in their own heads and need something to resonate with.

I'm already a fan of The Sad Ghost Club so I was excited to be given a chance to read this, I definitely would pick up a physical copy and go back to it as often as I needed it just to remind myself that I'm not alone and my feelings are very much validated.

#Gifted I obtained this arc for free via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

When two ghosts by chance meet at a party and make a connection...

This is the first in the series.
I love it's cute, broad illustration!
Considering it explores depression, loneliness and anxiety it's use of graphic is gentle and uplifting, which really adds to the story!
The dialogue is simple and the plot has a natural progression.
The characters are worth getting to know. Seeing as they are under a guise, learning a little of their backstory, I'm really curious to follow their journey!!

I'd recommend it anyone struggling with mental health..or even in a reading slump.

I look forward to seeing how this series progresses

I needed this book right now.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen myself so well represented on a page before - the story was beautifully simple with elegantly drawn pages and it packed an emotional punch that any “sad ghost” will identify with.

The discussion of anxiety and depression between SG and Socks was so recognisable as things I’ve felt in my own life. I would recommend this to anyone living with anxiety, or anyone who loves someone with anxiety too (it’ll help you see the world slightly as they see it.)

I've been following the Sad Ghost Club for a long time, having met them years and years ago at a little illustration fair in Brighton. I love them, I love what they do, and their stuff is pretty cool. I am a bit sad to say then that their little graphic novel is a bit... meh? While summing up pretty much what they do (illustrating anxious little experiences and finding quite cutesy (if a little cliche) ways of making them seem better and manageable), there's no story or characterisation or really anything to lock onto as a narrative. It's a couple of happenings that are very familiar (socially anxious individual gets invited to a party worries about said party, tries to escape said party and ends up having a deep chat with someone else who isn't really into the party either), and while coming from a genuine place of thoughtfulness and experience, it doesn't really say much in the end.

I've been a fan and member of The Sad Ghost Club for a long time, so thank you to Net Galley, Lize Meddings, and Hodder and Stoughton for allowing me early access to their gorgeous graphic novel.

The storyline and illustrations in this comic are so calm and gentle, they really capture the purpose of the story. SG feels like they're alone in the world, as so many with mental health issues do, and this comic is a beautiful reminder that you're not alone, there's nothing wrong with not being okay, and that it's okay to ask for help when you need it. Really lovely, I enjoyed it so much.

This book was sent to me via Netgalley in order to provide an honest review. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this opportunity.

I loved this graphic novel so much. I mean I generally love most graphic novels but this was something special. It was a very easy and quick to read book but it gave the reader everything that they needed. I really liked the illustrations, I thought they were absolutely wonderful.

This graphic novel focuses deeply on anxiety and is portrayed in a way that helps the reader to easily understand the feelings that you may experience and effectively how to manage them. However, this is done in such a simple and beautiful way as a reader I did not feel overwhelmed.

I think this is such an important book and one that everyone should read.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel. It had cute illustrations and the subject matter was very important. Though everyone could benefit from reading from it, I think it would be especially great for younger readers, in high school and such, who could relate to SG's situation about feeling isolated and worrying constantly. Personally, the main character's struggle with their mental health was very relatable to me, almost painfully similar.

I’ve been a fan of Sad Ghost Club and Lize Meddings’ work for a long time, so as soon as I saw this, I knew I had to read it!

Sad Ghost is a fantastically relatable character who experiences so many inner social anxieties and general worries that I, and I’m sure many others, have had, from interactions that end in you thinking, “what did I just say?” to deciding whether you want or not you are up for socialising with a big group. The idea of this being personified by the unspecific gender/race/nationality/sexuality Sad Ghost wearing the sheet is just fantastic and makes the book accessible to all adults, as well as YA and even children. Lize’s messages are always wholesome and resonate with anybody who has anxieties or doubts or lacks self confidence. Lastly, the illustrations are simply beautiful, and I can’t wait to see them in physical copy, rather than on a Kindle.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Net Galley for the advance copy.

The moment I saw the blurb for this graphic novel, I knew I had to read it!
The Sad Ghost Club follows SG, whose just having one of those days where everything feels too much, but they still want to be productive and try to do things. But what if they can’t?

This story was so simple and quick to read, but it is really effective in the message it gets across. It puts the feelings of anxiety into an easy to understand way and I can see this as a great way to teach younger kids about anxiety and mental health! As someone who is studying Psychology, I love seeing stories like this that are accessible to all ages and can help bring information to people who need it.

The illustrations were really cute and I loved how they left the main character as gender neutral! It gives every reader the chance to relate to them and not have them be defined as one specific gender. The important part of the character is how they’re feeling and not what they look like.

Overall, I really liked this book and I sincerely hope it is read by all those lonely ghosts, who need to hear they’re not alone.

Came in for the spooks and lovely illustrations, stayed for the heartwarming style and endearing characters. This story is such a lovely, tender exploration of mental health and reaching out. I'd love to follow the Sad Ghost Club in some future installments!

I've been trying to read more graphic novels lately, especially as my 6yo has become low-key obsessed with them. So, when I saw the adorable-looking, The Sad Ghost Club, I had to request it.

This is such a relatable book. I don't know of a single person in my life who doesn't suffer from some type of anxiety, myself included, and this book really resonated with me; even down to blaming my cats for their bad advice!

The illustrations in this book are really cute and very reminiscent of Heartstopper by Alice Oseman, the story starts off quite dark as you see the extent of the main characters loneliness and fear of not being accepted.

But the message of the book is really kind and sweet and made me feel so much better about my own insecurities. I'd highly recommend this book to everyone; kids, teens and adults alike.

It's like a little warm hug letting you know you're not alone.

Such cute illustrations. I really sympathise with the main character, so shy and overthinking everything. But they are so brave to go to the party! When they make a friend they are both so sweet, comforting each other and constantly apologising to each other.

3.5, cute story but the arc i recieved on kindle was all over the place in terms of formatting which really took from the experience of reading. I liked the message behind the story it was very relatable and made me feel a bit calmer about things going on in the world!
