I love this picture book! Such an interesting art style (using clay I think?) it is refreshing to see something like this in children's picture books. This is a funny book for bed time stories!

In this book we will encounter a very hungry wolf. But don’t worry because it looks kind of cute and cuddly. The illustrations are made with modelling which give the pictures a 3D feel, making them very interesting. There are some surprising elements that children will engage and be curious about it. This book is suitable for young primary school classes. It will make the children have fun engaging with the book. I highly recommend to read this book because it can inspire children to create their own book.

What a fun and surprising book! I must say the illustrations are just perfect for this story. It is nice to see a different artwork in children's books, and I hope we'll see a lot more from now on.
We all felt a little hungry and angry at the same time. This story perfectly tells how we feel when we are 'hangry. And it is adorable.

A fun picture book about a very hungry wolfboy, although nothing is quite as it seems...

Wolfboy is hungry (and grumpy!) and he's on a moonlit hunt for rabbits, crossing murky creeks and steep ravines. The further he travels, the hungrier (and grumpier!) he gets. But then, in the moonlight, he sees two long ears...

Wolfboy is really fun to read aloud, with lots of sound effects (especially if you're used to looking after hungry, grumpy toddlers!) My son really enjoyed listening to this story and loved the twist at the end.

Harkness's distinctive, clay sculpted artwork is bright and memorable, and creates an immersive world for wolfboy and the rabbits to inhabit.

I was provided with an advanced, digital copy of Wolfboy for review.

Full of deliciously, dark humour, this picture book explores how the monster within us can appear when we are hungry.

Wolfboy is hungry! But there are no rabbits in sight. Getting increasingly huffy and drooly and growly, he treks through bogs and meadows to find them. Will Wolfboy track them down and finally get a good meal?

This repetitive text, full of wonderful language, has echoes of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Each page builds tension brilliantly, leading the reader towards a climatic and humorous twist at the end. The text is simple but effective in structure and will no doubt be one demanded by children over again. Wolfboy is adorable, even on an empty stomach and I loved how his electric blue colour stood out on every page against the dark, intimidating background.

This is picture book writing at it's finest; clever and simplistic with a fun twist and every word a delight. We reckon little ones will gobble this up and be left wanting more.

Fun for young readers! My class loved seeing Wolfboy's emotions spiral and were enthralled to see what would happen next!

I was really excited to get hold of Wolfboy, having seen a video on Bloomsbury’s YouTube showing the meticulous creative process of the creator.

Andy Harkness uses digital photo editing of detailed clay sculptures to tell the story of Wolfboy. As is familiar to parents and teachers worldwide, children become tyrants when they are hangry, and Wolfboy is no exception.

The mood and the language are all playful but the stand-out feature is the art itself. You’d expect nothing less from the Art Director of Moana!

Harkness makes the clay sing and the book teems with life. Even on the first read, I can picture a carpet full of children reading along, shouting and chanting the repeated parts.

Young children will love it, and it would be brilliant for children to make clay-art picturebooks in response.

This was a really good book to read.

I really enjoyed the way that it was written and it had such a good flow to the story - we loved it and I liked the repetitive nature too, my daughter loved joining in so it was a hit for us at bedtime tonight.

The illustrations were great too - it is 4 stars from me for this one, a fun book to read with a good ending too - highly recommended!

I think this is a really fun book and can imagine young children being highly entertained. The story will definitely get them engaged and they will enjoy repeating the wolf's noises. I can imagine that it may be a little dark at the beginning for really young children but the ending will bring everything together.

My major issue with this book is the flow of the story itself. It just doesn't have the same singsong rhythm that I expected. It's not a terrible book but it just seemed to lack something. Although, saying that, it's not something that would put a child off, so it definitely does what it's meant to.

I read this book to my 3 children of different ages between 8 and 3, all of whom can be little wolf children too! They all enjoyed getting on board with his angry howls and stomping, giving us plenty to giggle at. There's definitely similar activity here when they are hungry!
The youngest thought the images were a little scary, but when we all got to the end they were very pleased to see the outcome was not as anticipated! What a twist for the little children to enjoy. It isn't often that a children's book can surprise us.

I hit request on this book because of the cover. The bold title, colourful character is highlighted more with the dark background. I was immediately interested.
I am a huge fan of picture books and this is delightfully spooky with a surprising twist.
I can imagine sitting with a group of students reading this one aloud, pausing to hunt for the rabbits on each page, change voices for wolfboy’s many feelings and anticipating the moment this hungry beast finds those rabbits.
And then of course delighting in the surprise awaiting all towards the end.

The illustrations are intricately designed and lend themselves to an art lesson after reading. There is so much to look at on each page and children will pore over each one thrilled with what they may find.

I really like this book, completely different in illustrative style and offering plenty for the reader.
