This audiobook is about a couple called Dick and Angel who, along with their 2 children Arthur and Dorothy, give up their life in the UK and buy a French chateau, which has 45 rooms, 7 outbuildings, 12 acres of land and a moat. It was a big task to take on and it was fun to listen to them talk about their adventures in travelling and decorating their home to get it the way they like it. There was also some nice recipes in the book and it was nice to listen to the descriptions of what life is like in France. It was great that Dick and Angel narrated the book themselves and they sound like a fun, happy couple who really enjoy their life.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and Net Galley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I've never seen the tv series, but my daughter raves about it so I decided to listen to the book.. I found it the perfect book to listen to during 2020!

Dick and Angel are a fabulous couple, who narrate their own book brilliantly. The descriptions of the french countryside (and the food!) made me feel that I was there. This is a great book if you're interested in property renovation too, afd after listening to this I will try to find the tv series on one of the streaming channels.

This is the perfect accompaniment to The Escape to the Chateau series and Dick and Angel's narration of the book is perfect, giving us extra insight and delicious recipes from their first year at the Chateau. The book offers a fuller version of their intrepid decision to take on such a big project, including their wedding planning and the event itself. The perfect book for any of their fans or anyone who has ever wanted to follow a dream!

I have always dreamed of ditching it all and buying a fabulous, but still affordable house in another country. The authors of this book have done just that. buying a beautiful, but crumbling French chateau. Readers will live vicariously through the Strawbridge family as they undertake the pricey and hysterically funny, restoration of their new home. Descriptions of the French countryside and the sights and sounds of their new neighborhood are just what I needed in these dreary days
