I enjoyed this fast-paced mystery. The characters were fun, the twists and turns kept me guessing and the humor made me laugh. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Cherry Hinton runs her own PI business and has been hired by Chris Gordon, the producer of Exposé TV's top Saturday night show, "Take a Dance on Me" to protect a luscious superstar dancer, Nadiya (Nads) Slipchenko, who believes she is the target of a killer. A series of 'accidents' occur and Cherry must find out if there is a murderer in the midst, or if Nad’s imagination is getting the better of herself.
With the global pandemic raging around me I read this fast paced novel. It was a great read with equal measures of comedic and seriousness, a wonderful light hearted read that hooked me from the start.

If you are looking for a quick, tongue-in-cheek book, you won't go far wrong with this one.

When professional ballroom dancer, Nadiya Slipchenko, one of the stars of Saturday night reality show Take A Dance On Me claims that she is in danger, producer Chris Gordon calls Cherry Hinton to help out and to act as Nadiya's bodyguard.

Cherry – who has her hands full making cakes for her Brentwood bakery and avoiding turning up on Watch My Ex Having Sex – teams up with her former flame DS Jacob Stowe to get to the truth of the matter. The murderer always seems to be two dance steps ahead of them, but can Cherry and Jacob solve the case before the live Grand Final turns deadly?

This is the second book in the Cherry Pi Mystery series but would also work as a standalone. Thankfully, in only the 2nd book of a series, there isn't too much for anyone to have to catch up with.

I thought that I would give this author another shot as others really seemed to enjoy the first book (which I did not).

However, the story was a bit more interesting, I still found myself losing focus while reading.

Cherry Hinton, Essex baker, reality TV alumna, and all-around good time girl, has been hired to catch whoever is out to kill a Russian dancer on a dance-based update of "The Price Is Right." Naturally, both her heart and her life are in danger.

Cherry and her friends and family put their all into the detective work, and learn a lot along the way about reality TV stars, the Russian mob, and the dance world. It's a rollicking good story with plenty of action.

I enjoyed the first book in the series a lot, and the second is just as fun. It's well written and the plot is complex but doesn't get out of hand. The details of Cherry's life and loves are fun to follow.

“Can you not see? Someone has it in for me. This is no accident; they are trying to kill me.”

Overview
NB: This review is based on the ARC provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

After a series of events that have resulted in injury and death, Chris Gordon producer of the hit ballroom dancing show The Dance Is Right enlists PI Cherry Hinton to discover what is going on.

In a bid to stop dancer Nadiya Slipchenko from being hurt or worse murdered, Cherry must protect her at all costs and find out whodunnit. Teaming up with her ex boyfriend Jacob Stow, Cherry must balance running her business and piecing together the truth in a quest to protect Nadiya.

My Thoughts
This is the second book in the Cherry PI series and I would say it could also be read as a standalone.

Very similar to the first book, Cherry Hinton continues to be a likeable character with a keen eye for detail and a no nonsense attitude. Continuing to be set in the realms of reality TV, this time the murder scene is a Saturday night dance show. Which in itself is a hilarious idea for a hit show.

A fun, almost tongue in cheek whodunnit with a great mix of characters. If you’re looking for a giggle this one could be for you. Imagine TOWIE mixed with Crimewatch.

An exciting and riveting, racy read, with a sassy main character.

A series of 'accidents' occur and Cherry must find out if there is a murderer in the midst, or if the incidences are figments of Nads' imagination...

There was a lot happening in this cheeky mystery tale by Jennifer Stone. Although I can't say I have much in common with the main character, nevertheless, I took to her straight away. As well as her own PI company she also has another job making and selling cakes for her bakery on the high street. Some of Cherry's sugary delights sounded absolutely delicious and I wouldn't have minded trying out her Raspberry Writtle Flapjacks with white chocolate drizzle or her Prosecco Pops!

As well as Cherry herself there was an abundance of characters in Cherry Twist, however, there was a number of occasions when I found myself struggling to keep track of them all. A few were abhorrent individuals (intentionally, I think) but I rather liked the outrageous Kelsey (Cherry's best friend and PI assistant). Cherry's former flame, DS Jacob Stow added some interest to the proceedings, as did Jacob's brother, Felix.

The prologue immediately drew me into the story and I was engrossed all the way through to the thrilling final pages. With many moments of humour, I was often chuckling away. Set in Essex, even though this was the second novel in the 'Cherry PI Mystery' series it was a good individual mystery read. Overall, a well-done, flirty and risqué tale but it's not for the prudish!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Duckworth Books/ Farrago via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

This was such a fun book! If you are looking for something light for the holiday season, this may not be what you are looking for. This starts with a BANG! We begin with a very precarious situation that includes blood. A situation where a knife is switched for a real one, perhaps. Miss Cherry Hinton is called to investigate. We are then taken on the adventure to solve who did it!

This is a very exciting book. It just draws you in at the beginning and you cannot put it down. The characters are very realistic and the story is realistic as well. This is the first time I have ever read anything by this author and I was not disappointed. I hope to read more in this series. I definitely recommend this wonderful cozy.

Great story.

Former journalist and current bakery owner and investigator Cherry Hinton is hired to look after a professional dancer that has made a few lucky escapes from freak accidents. Cherry enters the world of celebrity dance competitions as she investigates who of the celebrities or other professional dancers at the dance is right (I’m sure there is a network manager kicking himself for not thinking of that one first) wants to harm Nadiya Slipchencko.

It soon turns out that in the world of dance, everyone has had or wants to have sex with pretty much everyone else. This includes Felix Stow, now an MP and contestant, once a one-night-stand of Cherry, but mostly Jacob Stow’s brother. The two have some weird competitive streak going, which mainly makes me wonder what she saw in either brother. I’m calling the foolishness of youth and alcohol.

Cherry is assisted by her best-friend Kelsey, who has no filter, but a younger sister, who has even less of a filter. They take care of a lot of the comedy.

I liked this book a lot better than the previous story and I don’t think that is just due to the fact that I’ve actually seen a few series of Strictly.

Cherry Twist by Jennifer Stone is the 2nd book in A Cherry PI Mystery series, and my first book by this author. I found this mystery to be very funny and laughed through the whole book. Cherry Hinton is a private investigator hired to protect a dancer on the television show Take a Dance on Me. This book was easy to read and perfect for an escape from cold weather and/or the pandemic. I will be reading more books by this author, I highly recommend this book if you enjoy funny mysteries. I will be reading Ms. Stone's first book Cherry Slice, but Cherry Twist can be read as a stand alone.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The story plot is good. I didn't care for the profanity but that's me. British mystery lovers would enjoy this book.

A fun and cozy mystery set in the world of ballroom dancing, with an amateur sleuth on the prowl for the murderer. Loved it!

Many thanks to the author, publishers and Netgalley for a free ARC of this ebook.
When I received this ebook I purchased the first book in the series to ensure was up to speed with the series. I didn't think initially that I was going to enjoy it.. It's set in Essex, there's lots of local references that I was unfamiliar with and with all the language!! But I persevered and came to love the first book and more so the second. It features Cherry Hinton one time journalist, reality TV disaster queen, PI and cake maker.
No plot spoilers here, but the story is a gas, funny, touching and spot on. I highly recommend it.

If I was British I would say that this book, this story has me completely gutted. Good grief but those Brits sure to like their reality TV, and Cherry Hinton, former investigative reporter turned private investigator with a bakery to boot sure does get drawn into their chaos and drama. Luckily she has her bestie Kelsey to help her out and super supportive parents, because as we say in the South, her guy Jacob, well bless his heart . He as they would say in the UK is one giant arse. Not to let loose with the spoilers but I will say that the characters let loose with some colorful language making this more of a tart and tangy cozy rather than the smooth dark cholate type or even the sweet marshmallow meringue type. Full of drama and dance, plus a little shagging here and there. Not the type of shagging that East Coast Yanks take part in although that is a dance word so it would be appropriate. Poor Cherry is all I am going to say, she takes a beating and keeps on bleeping. And as they say in NY City, she is going to do it her way, with brilliance, butter cream frosting, and a whole lot of bravery. Had me in tears at several parts and yelling out loud, thank good ness I was in the car driving on the freeway. Cannot wait for the one, my only request is that you add some #*%^# recipes to the end of the story for pity's sake!

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Duckworth Books/Farrago, in return for an honest review. While the second book in this series, it is easily read as a standalone. Cherry Hinton, local baker, former reality show contestant and newly minted private investigator/sleuth, is hired by a sleazy reality show producer to protect one of his star dancers on the flagship program, The Dance is Right. A series of potentially deadly events are threatening Nadiya Slipchenko’s career and life. Cherry, aided by her assistant, Kelsey, agrees to protect Nadiya in return for a substantive fee. When a murder occurs and Cherry is injured and threatened, she knows that she has to solve this crime before she is the next victim.
Cherry and Kelsey are not the traditional sleuths. There’s a use of slang and British terms that provide an interesting education for the readers. Cherry is a unique protagonist and this book offers an insight into the world of reality television.

Former reality contestant, baker and PI Cherry is hired to find out who has been trying to kill a contestant on a dancing show. As Cherry gets deeper into her sleuthing, she finds herself poisoned and then attacked by a Russian goon. With her love life in the dumper, Cherry focuses on the case and stumbles upon eye opening information that will help her break the case wide open, if her head isn’t broken wide open by the killer first.

I love British Cozies…they’re a bit less prudish than American cozies and often teach me some new choice words. This series is not exception. I need another visit with Cherry and Kelsey soon!
