Cara is a serious musician, who for personal reasons hates Christmas. When she is forced to record a Christmas single with Javi, a known womaniser, she is less than impressed. Promotions take them all over world, where Cara learns to overcome some of her issues and meets his family. The last thing she wants is to fall in love, but she risks heartache and learns to love and trust again. A really good read and very different from the normal Christmas reads.

Such a guilty pleasure! I loved this book, I wasn’t sure at first, but the story and the excellent narrator made me ignore my family to finish off the last half of the book in one sitting.

I enjoyed this audio very much.
I liked the vibrant sounding scenes, the Colombian music description, and the contrast of the English Christmas.
I thought that Cara and Javier were great as artists together.
Loved Javi's family too.
All in all an upbeat story which I really enjoyed listening to.

A very tense Christmas romance. It's got chemistry and tension, laughter and love. What more could you need from a book at Christmas? Its a perfect holiday listen for those cold winter nights when you need something feel good.

This is hard to review because I don't really have any strong feelings towards this. I saw so many great reviews before I started this, so I will say that this probably just wasn't the romance for me because there were a lot of romance tropes I personally dislike. But, I did enjoy the ending. Our protagonist, Cara wasn't my favourite character but she wasn't the worst. Javi was another meh character for me. I didn't care for the romance but there were elements that I liked about it. (Unfortunately, all of them are spoilery.)

Overall, it was a forgettable Christmas read for me. I wouldn't really recommend and it just didn't have my number.

While the story starts off as intriguing, it slows down towards the middle and seems a bit too slowburn for a romance novel. I appreciated the anxiety rep, but was unsure about certain vocabulary used surrounding the main character's disability. Cute moments, but ultimately not satisfying.

Cara is a great pop star with a lot of insecurities and a past that haunts her everyday life. Javi is a singer whose career is almost over and the Christmas song is his last chance to blow up the charts. Together they become great.

This book is soooo great! At first I had a bit of hard time getting into the book but once things started happening I could not stop! The plot is great. There’s so much depth in it although it circles around the Nostalgia song, but it’s so much more. I love how Cara and Javi make each other better and how they support each other. I also like that they are both characters with hard pasts and that they overcome the trouble together.
I also really like the characters. I really like Javi, and I like how there’s so much more to him than what you get at first glimpse. Of course, Cara is also a one of kind pop star with her prosthetic leg and a lot of anxiety.

All in all, this is a beautiful story and I would love to hear how their story continues.

A lovely story with a Christmas theme read in the lead up to Xmas. A little bit of a predictable ending but still well written and I was engrossed from the start. Well written and the characters were all so different. Definitely worth a read.

Sadly I didn't find this book very engaging. It was all too trite for my tastes. I can't really explain why. I think I would have been better off reading the script rather than listening as the voices used for the characters rather influenced my idea about them. I am sure that many would enjoy this story but it was not one for me.

First, let me say that the narrator to a fantastic job. The talent she showed blew me away and I’m not easily impressed. The story had singing, dancing, trips all over the world and Christmas, what’s not to like? It was great fun and a pleasant surprise.
I wasn’t sure that these two would be compatible. But boy was I wrong. They completely won me over with them just being themselves. I really enjoyed the chemistry and found the whole story endearing. The connection they had preforming was totally believable.
If you’re looking for a fun and different kind of Christmas romance then this is for you. It does have an HEA. I highly recommend it. Happy Christmas.

This book is based on a romance between two Musicians - a stoic and serious pop celebrity from the UK (with a disability) and a lothario pop star from Columbia; who make a Christmas song together. If you understand the theory of music and method of creating music you will probably get quite a bit more out of this book than me; who loves a good pop song but understands none of the theory behind it.

I listened to the audio version of this book thanks to NetGallery who gifted me a copy. I'm not sure on the British Narrator who portrayed quite a stiff character in Cara and had a terrible Latin American accent for the Latino parts. I'm not sure if that spoiled the enjoyment slightly because I didn't feel the connection or spark between the characters at all; with the connection they do make seeming forced and fake.

This is the second book I have encountered recently which has (in this case Spanish) un-translated words and I find that VERY annoying - also quite pointless - with Audio it's impossible to translate if you did want to.

It is a nice enough Christmas read - i didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either and I will definitely forget it.

This was an audio book and was narrated by Gloria Sanders.

I think I would have preferred to read this book rather than listen to it. The narrator changes her voice for each character but I'm sorry, I found Javi a bit cringey. Her normal narrators voice however was pleasant.

The story itself is decent and a bit different although not being able to play music some of the technical detail describing it went over my head and I found myself having to stop the book and google.

Cara and Javi are easy characters to like and I liked the sassiness of Bea, although again I found the voice for Bea didn't quite match.

Overall I found the story quite slow and it didn't really draw me fully in, I'm not sure if that is because I have listened rather than read with my own inner voices.

Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC.

I read the ebook version first and then listened to the audio. The narrator has brought this fantastic, emotional and vibrant book to life. It has become my favourite festive read.

I was in a reading slump where nothing satisfied my inner book worm until this came along. It jolted me out of boredom when its singing pineapples promised me a fun, quirky and different type of Christmas story. It did not disappoint. I instantly connected with not only Cara but also her potential swoonsome love interest Javi. From different cultures, musical backgrounds and life experience the chemistry between them sizzles.

The musicality from the beginning continued throughout and the music it evoked made me want to dance, which is a testament to the quality of writing. The words of the songs tugged at my emotions further investing my love in both characters. It has depth, laughter and emotional ups and downs which kept me in the story. I desperately wanted a happy ending, but the tension kept rising with emotional conflicts, so I remained unsure whether it was achievable until the final page.

The novel covers many difficult topics sensitively such as grief, divorce and mental health issues. I loved the fact that though Cara was severely injured in the past, her physical disability is not the primary focus of the story. They show it as part of who she is. By showing her acceptance and ability to do all the things she wants to, it normalises disability in literature and is how diversity should be.

WOULD I RECOMMEND?
This is on my forever shelf, so I can return to it another Christmas. With the beautiful, vibrant, and unusual setting of Columbia, it made a refreshing change to the typical snowy scenes. The depth and emotion in the relationship with Javi and Cara has lodged them firmly in my heart.

My Christmas Number One - Leonie Mack

My overall view on this book was that it was just ok - it's a very typical type of love story, but not necessarily one that I would recommend. I must admit I found the narration for the daughters voice a little annoying. I did however enjoy the travel element of the story.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Publishers for the chance to listen to and review this book

It's a good enough book and couldn't blame the writing but definitely not to my taste.

I can't feel I can properly review it and don't want to harm the book so I will just leave it as that.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book, it kept me thoroughly entertained and I found myself looking forward to listening to it. The narrator was excellent, her voices and accents were tip top and really brought the story to life. The story unfolded slowly and beautifully with the two main characters gradually falling in love over Christmas, Both their back stories were interesting and really made you connect with the characters and root for them. This was much better than the usual Christmas romance fare, with genuine warmth and lots of gentle humour. I would definitely listen/read to more by this author.

4.5 stars
This book was such a joy. I admit, I 100% requested this because it's December and I want to read all the Christmas books right now.
So, this book starts off in August when Cara and Havi record a Christmas song together. There's a sizeable chunk that takes place when they first meet and I was kind of disappointed because I thought a lot more of it would take place at that time and just have the book be around the song they wrote and that would be that for the Christmas aspect. But it ends up that a good majority of the book takes place a lot closer to Christmas when they meet back up to do promotional stuff for the song when it is released.
I was also disappointed because I thought this was turning out to be a book about some arrogant used-to-be singer who turns this strong, independent woman into a conquest and she totally falls for it and gets her heart broken. While Cara did fall for Havi mostly against her will, it took a totally different turn than I thought and I loved it. I loved the SLOW burn, I loved the way Cara stuck to her guns no matter what I was screaming at her to do. I loved Havi's struggle to grow up and face his fears and his past and his general outlook on women.
Both main characters have big hurdles they are trying to overcome. Cara lost her mother and brother in a car accident on Christmas eve 10 years ago, in which she ended up losing her foot. She has severe anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD and doesn't want to be seen as "the pop singer who is missing a foot." This was dealt with so well and so realistically in my opinion. It didn't overshadow the main plot of the book, but it was always there. It stretched into Cara's dad, who has dealt with losing a wife and son as well as nursing Cara back to health after the accident. Havi is dealing with realizing he has a 12 year old daughter who he has not been much of a father to and really struggling with how to be a better father. His daughter Bea was my favorite character. She was so sassy and blunt and I loved it.
I loved rooting for Cara and Havi, no matter what either of them wanted. I loved going through Cara's journey of finding her Christmas spirit again with her. I loved watching Havi ground himself and realize that he no longer wanted to fall in love with every girl he does a song with, he wants love for the long haul. Everything just felt so real and it was the perfect Christmas book to kick off the season with!

This was ok, it’s not a book I would rave about.
The usual Christmas romance and you knew it was predictable, it’s not that I hated it, i just felt meh when I was listening to it.
Cara has had a turbulent life, which had left her scarred and she meets Javi after their music company asks them to collaborate on a Christmas song together.
Through the story Cara chips away at Javi and his playboy persona to reveal a different side.
Thank you Netgalley for a copy in return for my honest review.

I received my audio copy of My Christmas Number One via Netgalley. This isn't really a Christmas romance as such as most of the action takes palce earlier in the year and in hot climes to boot. It has some hot, racy moments interspersed with beautiful descriptions of the geographical backdrops. Although we know as a romantic story exactly how it will end the journey there is well written and absorbing.

I loved the narrator most of the time although I found her voice gor Bea a little over the top for a twelve year old and Javi's to be somewhat creepy at times and least it was always obvious which character was speaking. She did on a few occasions lapse into her own voice complete with with glottal stops but I found that quite endearing rather than annoying.

The main irritation for me whilst listening to this book was the fact that every ten minutes or so someone would 'purse' their lips, it eventually became quite an irritation; there was also a lot of speaking with a 'flat voice'

Overall though this book was a step above the usual candyfloss Christmas stories and I enjoyed it and would have loved for a version of Nostalgia to have been played at the end.

I was hooked from the moment I started this book and couldn't stop listening. It is a wonderful story of romance , the author gives an astute perspective of anxiety and mental health issues . The chemistry of the characters isbuzzing from the first time they meet, so is the rhythm of the dance and music throughout the book. a lovely Chrismas love story for anyoine wanting to settle in front of the fire with a book or in this case a pair of headphones.
