Such a quick and entertaining reading.
Fable is a convincing, relatable and brave main character, following her journey was a real pleasure. I especially loved her connection to Saint, their 'relationship' moved me. Of course, West was great! Honestly, the entirety of the Marigold's crew was.
This is certainly not the most original story but it delivered what it promises: pirates, adventure, lost treasures, ennemies.

Fable was a great book about finding your place and destiny in the world.

Fable instantly intrigued me because the premise seemed to promise me a dangerous yet fun adventure on the sea. It gave me just that and more. There were bargains, betrayals, and sizzling romance. Though it lacked action scenes, the world-building in this book enchanted me. As for the characters, Fable was a fierce and brave girl. Initially, I was not fond of her, but her determination won me over.

If you are a fan of YA fantasy and are currently looking for a read set on the sea with a badass FMC, you should try Fable!

Took a little bit of getting into but then resulted in one of the sweetest 'I fell for you instantly' quotes I think i've ever read. Typical he fell first but she fell harder trope. I have no idea who Clove is but looking forward to seeing where Nameless takes me.

Unfortunately I did not enjoy reading this book. I struggled to get through this story even though the book isn't very long. Adrienne Young is a fantastic writer and I've enjoyed some of her other works in the past but this was such a miss.

The characters in Young's books are what usually draw me in but Fable, West, Saint and the rest of the crew felt so one dimensional and flat that I couldn't bring myself to care for them at all. The characters also don't change or develop in any meaningful way throughout the book.

The plot itself was very flimsy and nothing significant really happens. I was never on the edge of my seat or excited to see what happens next. I know that Young's pacing tends to be on the slower side but oh gosh I was bored a lot when reading this book unfortunately.

Going into this book I had high expectations. I was hoping for a book with Pirates of the Caribbean vibes with high stakes and a touch of destiny. All I got out of this was one great declaration of love that had nothing to stand on, LGBTQ+ side characters who couldn't be out and proud and some cool descriptions of ships. I won't be continuing with this series unfortunately.

This was a really interesting book to read. It took me a little while to get into it, once I was then I was hooked. It was a predictable storyline, but I did have a feeling it would end the way it did. I can't wait to read the next book and find out how this story ends

Truly amazing, a novel that improves both the YA and Fantasy genre's by just being part of them.

When I tell you I love sailing and pirate novels, I want you to know I would have given this fifty stars if I could. It is totally unique, well informed and truly immersive.

Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down, and I found myself staying up until the early hours plowing my way through page after page, and having the best time.

It is safe to say Fable, and Adrienne Young in extension, are now firmly within my top 5 authors and books.

Having read a book by Adrienne young before and not liking it, I was a little worried going into this one. But I wanted to give it a chance and I can thank the publishers and netgalley for an eARC in exchange of an honest review.

I actually enjoyed fable. While my main gripe with the novel would be that not a whole lot actually happens, it didn’t really matter. The world was well enough fleshed out that nothing was overwhelming or annoying.

Our main character, named fable for some dumb reason, is abandoned on an island by her father after her mother’s death. He tells her that if she can find her way off the island then the sea is the right life for her. So of course she spends years almost dying alone on an island filled with men somehow surviving. I’m not going to lie the most unrealistic part about the thieves and stuff living on an island with her is that she didn’t get assaulted. Never trust men.

Anyway, she manages to trick a trade called west to get her off the island and goes with him and his crew hoping to find her father.

There were a lot of things I found a bit unrealistic about Fable’s character like the sex scene. Okay no one goes from kissing someone to having sex fir the first time in like ten minutes I just don’t believe that. Especially when they don’t trust anyone. Regardless the plot held my attention enough that I finished the novel and actually enjoyed it. While I had many gripes I liked fable as a character and without her the book would be a flop. I’d like to know more about her gem ability.

Oh boy, I absolutely adored this.

If you're like me, a fantasy lover who doesn't read much about pirates, then PICK THIS UP.
It follows 17-year-old Fable, the daughter of the most powerful trader in the Narrows. It has been 4 years since Fable watched her mother drown during a storm, and it has been 4 years since Fable's father abandoned her on a remote island filled with thieves.

It's hard to describe everything that I loved about this. The characters were spot on and I loved the friendships that formed. I never realised how much I needed pirates in my life before this as, oh wow, am I craving adventure on the high seas now! It was fun, packed with intrigue, and fantastic world-building to boot. I just ordered everything about it!

If you're a YA fantasy lover then I highly, HIGHLY recommend this. A fantastic first installment in a new world.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I seem to be starting a lot of my reviews with... I really wanted to love this book but I didn't and that makes me sad. Lately I seem to be disappointed a lot in the book releases and that says something. This has a premise that it's right up my alley and I was prepared to love it, however I blame it on the writing and the characters as there's nothing that draws me in from that perspective. And where was the plot? There's a lot of sailing and adventuring, but I cannot see a plot in sight and it was kinda boring.

Really tried to love this book and really tried to push through, this may have been just me in a little reading slump but I couldn’t finish this book unfortunately. I’m hoping to try again at another time.

Fable was a pacey, high action adventure that introduced us to an interesting world.

I liked how the world building was kept more need to know than a lot of background information. There aren't many differences to a real world setting that I can think of, apart from the idea of gem sages.

I thought the action was well-written, and the characters for the most part were solidly realised.

I don't think the ending is particularly strong - I don't like a cliffhanger for a book one ending. However, I'm happy that book two is out now and will he devouring that soon.

My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

“You weren’t made for this world, fable.”

These words were the parting gift Saint left Fable when he abandoned her on the shore of Jeval. At just 14 years old, Fable used her fathers 5 rules to survive the ruthless island of thieves.

I really enjoyed Fable’s character. She is strong and witty, but not in the same sassy way we are used to seeing in YA protagonists. She had to learn to fight for her life and learn to use her skills as a dredger to survive a ruthless world.

Unsurprisingly, when Fable bribes her way onto the Marigold while running for her life, the crew takes a long time to warm up to her presence amongst their small group. This may be why I felt as though the relationship between Fable and West fell flat. I didn't see any build up to this relationship at all until suddenly it was happening and I just did not care for it at all.

I really liked the detail the author went to with certain little things. As someone who as worked in the Maritime industry since I was a teenager I know that the proper names of ships should be italicised. It made me smile seeing it even though most readers would overlook it.

I found this book to be very unique and I could not put it down. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling fantasy set on the ocean.

Many thanks to Netgalley and publishers for providing me with this eARC.

Creative and alluring, this book draws on a lot of traditions and folklores, and flips most of them on their heads. The sterotypes it burns through are left in ashes as it blazes a trail all of its own, ready for the sequel. It took me far too long to get around to reading this book, but I was well rewarded by it when I did.

I found Fable to be an okay story! I wasn't entirely hooked from the beginning, but I found the story to be interesting enough to finish. Just an alright read for me.

Fable was a swashbuckingly good adventure on the high seas that I thoroughly enjoyed! I absolutely breezed through and can't wait for the sequel.

I liked this a lot more than I was expecting from yet another YA fantasy romance, and that's down to Adrienne Young's gorgeous writing, complex characterisations, and fast pacing. I positively flew through this, and enjoyed myself immensely, until the end - no spoilers, of course, but it felt more like the end of a chapter than the end of an actual book. That's why in the end I gave Fable four stars.
