I love, Love. LOVED this book...

...do I need to say any more just go and buy it...

...it's fabulous really and its Tracy Bloom at her very best.

...I mean I could tell you about the relatable characters, all the great goals that Cathy set for herself, the various family dynamics that felt so familiar..

...or I could just strongly suggest that you read the book yourself, as it is really great!

... I mean it, Cathy has some wonderful ideas of what would make her happier over the course of a year, and I loved seeing how she would try to achieve each of her aims.

....Just an all around good fun novel that I really do think its fab, (if I haven't already said that).

Thank you to Harper Collins and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Great fun humerous book with a great premise. I loved the main character Cathy and how she dealt with her family if you want a laugh and some lighthearted fun this is the book for you

I’d give this a 3.5 rather than a 3. Uplifting and feel good, but not particularly surprising. Rather cliche!

Really enjoyed this. As a new mum it was quite interesting and entertaining to read about an experienced mum with teenage children, who's done with her sole role as mum and wants to get herself a new identity and purpose in life. Lots of very funny moments, lots of relatable scenes. Just really enjoyable.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for approving me for an ARC of this book.

I really liked the diary layout of the book and all the stats at the beginning were very amusing. To begin with I didn’t think much of Cathy’s goals, I thought they were quite unimaginative and boring. I guess that was the point though. Cathy didn’t need to run a marathon or do a sky dive to feel she had taken control of her life. She just needed to ditch cooking, sort her parent’s out and finally have the ‘talk’ with her husband Mike. As a mum I could understand that, for me just sitting to have a warm cup of tea can feel like a challenge!

There were plenty of moments that I found myself nodding along and sympathising with Cathy’s woes. I loved the banter between her and her sister’s and the conversations with her children that always made me giggle. What I hadn’t expected though were the moments when I found myself welling up. I thought this would be a laugh a minute and whilst it was there was a level of sadness that I oddly enjoyed. It grounded the whole book and made Cathy, her family and her friends seem even more realistic.

A big stand out moment for me was the conversation Cathy had with her daughter. She earned major mum points in this chapter and I loved the honesty. She didn’t try to tell her daughter what to do, she treated her as a growing woman who needed a little guidance. To be honest, I loved Cathy. Her zero bull shit, no nonsense attitude made her stand out and proved to be useful on several occasions. I feel like we could all do with channelling a little more Cathy sometimes.

This was a laugh out loud, completely relatable and fun read. The perfect pick me up for any parent that struggles with the daily routine that parenthood can bring.

The Wife Who Got a Life was another great laugh out loud book by Tracy Bloom. One of the funniest I have read in a long time, that had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Read in one sitting I could not put it down.

Every woman over 40 can relate to this book. Teenagers growing up. Husband working full time and then some . This book is an absolute tonic. A woman who takes her life into her our hands and as we follow her on her journey she makes us smile, laugh out loud and even cry in laces. A brilliant book to read.

A fun read about a woman approaching the menopause. Cathy is stuck in a rut and makes a list of all the things she wants to change over the coming year. I enjoyed the story and found the characters likeable. This was my first book by Tracy Bloom but it won’t be my last. I will be looking out for other titles by the author in the future.

During lockdown and all that has followed this is a wonderful uplifting, laugh out loud read. Once again Tracy Bloom has hit the mark this novel tells the story of Cathy Collins. One day Cathy's husband, Mike, drops a midlife crisis bombshell. Cathy was given a motivational diary as a Christmas present from her sister, rather reluctantly she starts using the diary to record her year. Cathy is a great character and I warmed to her so much whilst reading this novel. Rather reluctantly the aforementioned diary becomes a key part of Cathy's life helping her to take stock of her life, assesses what’s important and this leads to positive change. The 'Domestic Resentment Situation' is definitely relatable and Mike can be frustrating and annoying but even he comes through in the end. Kirsty and Freddie, Cathy's teenage children are very well portrayed and the trials and tribulations that Cathy experiences with them is utterly believable.
This was a fun read that kept me entertained all the way through and I look forward to Tracy Bloom's next novel.

Wasn't sure if I would like this, first time reading a Tracy Bloom book but got to say it was a cracker. We all have issues so if felt like I was one of the book group gang. The strength of Tania just blew me away. The friendships so real.

The Wife who got a Life.
Well, what a pick me upper! I laughed and I cried reading this but most of all I cheered. This woman is my heroine. She was hurtling towards mid life without any direction but having received a motivational diary for Christmas she decides it’s time to take control. Will she succeed in her mission ? That’s the question !! Thanks to #NetGalley #HarperCollinsUK for a copy of this wonderful book. #NetGalley. #TheWifewhogotaIife #TraceyBloom #HarperCollinsUK

I really did ‘laugh out loud’ whilst reading this brilliantly written book. Tracy Bloom is witty and funny and writes with a huge amount of warmth that the reader instantly feels comfortable. I love her characters and can relate to them. Cheer yourself up and read this book!

I thought this was absolutely hilarious and very well written. The premise is understandable- lady of a certain age, feels like she lost her way. But nothing about this book felt boring or like it had been “done” before. All the characters were funny and the whole novel was easy and fun to read. Some very sad bits as well- so very beautifully written and powerful to read. Just an all round wonderful book- would highly recommend.

A really easy read but nothing particularly life changing for Cathy although maybe that’s more realistic? It was nice to see her relationships improve over the course of the book but it was largely down to her rather than anyone else - no one else seemed to be making an effort.

An easy, enjoyable holiday novel, dealing with a middle aged wife Cathy, who has had enough of her demanding teenage children, mid-life crisis husband and needy mother. It got a little bogged down in minute details at times, which I found myself skimming over, and it tended to be a little formulaic in places, but overall, a pleasant read.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this book.

Not the sort of book I’d normally read but it made a pleasant change from crime/murder/mystery fiction which is my favourite genre.
This was a funny story charting the trials and tribulations of Cathy. She juggles bringing up two teenage kids (along with all the dramas associated with their lives) , a husband who regularly works away from home, running said home and “doing the books” for several small businesses.
If all that isn’t difficult enough her husband decides to have a mid-life crisis and give up his well-paid job to become a teacher, her close friend and neighbour is given bad news about her wife’s health and her mother needs knee replacement surgery. Not to mention impending menopause.
After a life of putting everyone else first Cathy decides enough is enough and it’s time to start looking after number one.
The book was also a humorous look at the relationships in Cathy’s life (husband, children, parents, siblings, friends and work colleagues).
If in future I need another break from crime/murder I will certainly seek out more of Tracy Bloom’s books.

The Wife Who Got A Life by Tracy Bloom is very entertaining and an enjoyable read. I was going to say it was a light hearted read but it does touch on sensitive subjects with a deft touch. It is a book about living your life and getting the best from it but with some funny and sad moments along the way.
Highly recommended.

A really lovely light hearted good read. Cathy has decided to take back her life after years of caring for her family it is time for her to do something for herself. Having a goal to achieve every month Cathy is sceptical at first but as the year progresses Cathy finds herself stronger and happier than ever before.
