Was really expecting this to be good but the characters behaved just too ridiculously for credence. Guest returning to a retreat where others had died; a mothers disdain for her second living daughter; an ex prisoner returning to offer counselling and acting as a psychiatrist to guests. Full of suspicion and nasty relationships and moving between POVs and timelines, there is intrigue and mystery and it’s easy to read, I just felt it was too wordy and detailed for my enjoyment.
Thanks to Netgalley for the arc.

Her Last Holiday is a suspense that had such a great premise. When I first started it, I loved how detailed C.L. Taylor was with the relationships between the characters. Each characters build was fantastic and I couldn't wait to see where the plot would take me. However, the second half of the book was lackluster, it just didn't live up to the first half. I wish that it would have had more oomph to keep me engaged.

This book was a nice easy read, which we all need from time to time.

A big fan of this author usually but not one of my favourite books by her. I don’t feel like it grabbed me as much as previous ones have and I didn’t care that much for the characters.

I don’t particularly have anything negative to say, as it wasn’t a bad book. It was a good plot, written well, I just didn’t find it as engaging as others I have read

Sadly, not my favourite book by Cally. I didn’t like a single character (although I think I’d struggle to find anyone that liked any of them, so perhaps that was the point?) and I wasn’t a huge fan of the premise; the story just didn’t feel filled out enough. It bored me a little to be honest.

A psychological thriller which is a little different from the rest. After Fran books herself onto a wellness retreat to find out how her sister died on the same retreat two years before, she embarks on a journey to uncover the truth. Is the person hosting the retreat to blame or do any of the other guests hold the secret? Although there some minor details of the story which were slightly unbelievable, the general story was one which was entertaining and made me want to carry on reading.

In this British psychological thriller, two years ago Jenna was ruled by local authorities as having killed herself at a wellness retreat, but her family never believed that was the real story. With the group leader Tom having just been released from prison and giving another wellness retreat, Jenna’s sister Fran decides to attend to try and find out the truth. The book alternates between Jenna in the past, Fran in the present, and Kate in the present (Tom’s wife and business partner).

I couldn’t put this down, very suspenseful and well done with my suspicions and guesses of what happened constantly shifting. This is the second CL Taylor book I have read, and I really enjoy her style - definitely want to check out her other books which are available in the US.

I'm always excited when I see a new book from this author but I'm afraid that this one left me cold. I'm not sure what it was exactly that put me off, possibly the fact that I didn't like any of the characters. I really didn't care what happened to any of them. Sorry to leave such a poor review. I hasten to add that this book hasn't put me off buying future work from this author.

This was a book I literally could not put down. I actually stayed up late reading it as wanted to finish it.

I had no idea how it was going to end and there were a few pleasant twists and surprises throughout.

I appreciated how Tom and Kate were portrayed and how we slowly saw their real selves.

I really enjoyed the SoulShrink aspect and how these events can be and the power of the leaders.

The ending was very drawn out though. Normally I am unhappy books end abruptly but this one seemed to have 5 endings. Really needed that bit condensed but apart from that a fun quick read.

I would have called the book SoulShrink and done a website attached to it...Her Last Holiday is a pretty bland title for a very interesting book!

Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I've read every book by this author so I knew I was in for a treat with this one. Now I won't lie it took me a while to get into it especially the flicking back and forth in the story line. BUT... The ending really made this whole book for me. Brilliant ending. Jaw dropping. Didn't see it coming. Very clever. Enjoy it all but especially the ending. Not a retreat I'd go on personally. A few characters I didn't get on with or like but a good read. A well deserved four stars.

This is a quick and easy read. It's meant to be a thriller and it does have a quite a few twists and turns throughout. The storyline centres around Fran trying to find out what happened to her sister Jenna who disappeared a couple of years previously while on a retreat in Malta. As others have said, there are quite a few far-fetched ideas and some holes in the plot, but as long as you are not looking for the perfect mystery, you may enjoy this pleasant read.

Thank you to the editor and Netgalley for an advanced e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest and impartial review.

Don’t think it’s the book or the writing as I love this author usually but perhaps my tastes changing and I’m a bit more disengaged with thrillers

Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

I originally opted not to provide feedback on this because the storyline was too jolting but also whilst being predictable - this may be because i've read too many thrillers

This book was everything I look for in a book. It was so exciting. The plot was fantastic. It really had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart racing. It was very well written and flowed well.

Each of these women has a very strong and unique personality. Although they are not particularly likeable, their flaws make their character arcs quite interesting. The plot itself definitely requires some suspension of disbelief but overall, I found it engrossing and ultimately satisfying.
