I absolutely adore CL Taylor and her writing style. She keeps you hooked from page one! #TheLastHoliday is no exception. I’m a big fan of suspense thrillers and this is a fantastic example of that genre. A thoroughly good read that’s keeps you hooked to the last word. A sister trying to find out what really happened to her sibling, definitely gets more than she bargained for! Highly recommended #Netgalley

Horrible people
Great setting and hard to believe that these people exist but they do and they will always be there!! The author is so good at raising the heart rate while the story unravels in a precise and clever way

C L Taylor is an author that is fast becoming an auto buy for me and yet again she doesn't disappoint with her latest book "Her Last Holiday"

The story unfolds over the POV of three women cengtering around the disappearance of Jenna at a wellness retreat 2 years earlier. When the man held responsible for detahs at the retreat (and widely suspected to be involved in Jenns disappearnce) is released from jail Fran decides to attend his lastest retreat to find out exactly what happened two years ago. A utterly compelling page turner with a fitting end, highly recommeneded for lovers of the psychological thriller genre.

I found Her Last Holiday to be relatively easy to read with quite smooth prose, but the characters were all both annoying and stupid (for the sake of the plot), the plot itself was boring and pointless, and the ending didn't reward me for my perseverance. Needless to say I won't be recommending this one.

Her Last Holiday is a twisty psychological thriller that is full to the brim with suspense!

I was so looking forward to reading this book as I loved The Island and I was not disappointed at all.

I really love Cults and this one was delivered so well, I was gripped from the start and I did not see that ending at all!

If you love a book that keeps you guessing and has some very interesting characters then this is the book for you!  C L Taylor has fast become one of my go-to Authors now, two books out of two read and they are fabulous!

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read this book!!
Tom Wade has just been released from prison after serving a two year sentence following the deaths of two people during one of his “Soul Shrink” retreats. Now, Fran is determined to find out what happened to her sister Jenna, who disappeared at the same time.

Tom has been tight lipped about Jenna, but Fran wants the truth, and is soon attending Tom’s next retreat. Will Tom tell her the truth, and will she survive the encounter?

I bought this book the moment it became available on Kindle, and while still only 30% in, I then bought the hard back too. It’s that good!

The story switches between the retreat on the Maltese island of Gozo, mainly told from Jenna’s perspective, and Fran’s search for the truth almost three years later in North Wales. If that wasn’t stressful enough, being unable to tell friend from foe pushed the tension through the roof and there were times I felt anxious for Fran.

I found that I liked Jenna and Fran almost immediately, and warmed to several of the other players too, even changing my mind completely about Tom. Naturally, there were those who I found to be anywhere from disagreeable to Ioathsome. The sibling rivalry forced onto the sisters by an overbearing mother, and that overwhelming feeling that the other sibling is the favoured child, while you are considered the family disappointment, must have built such thick walls between Fran and Jenna, it was no wonder they weren’t the best at communication.

Every time I came up with a possible fate for Jenna, the author swiftly performed some unseen Judo move and swept my feet from under me. While I did eventually worked out how it would play out, it was still shocking and the explanation took me completely by surprise. And that is why a C. L. Taylor book never disappoints.

Overall, I think this was a very well written, complex, and compelling book, which I am happy to recommend to any lover of a good mystery. I have given Her Last Holiday by C. L. Taylor five stars.

Another fantastic book buddy read with @thebookendreviews

This book is all about mystery. What exactly happened to Jenna

The book is set between two timelines, the present day and around 2/3 years ago, when Jenna went missing

We meet tom and kate firstly, who I took an instant dislike to. Throughout the book, Kate really wound me up.

However, in discussions in our buddy read, both of us were of the opinion that it was just too obvious that Kate had done something to Jenna

I was desperate to find out what happened to Jenna. C L Taylor creates a complex setting and great characters, as per all of her books.

The only downside is I felt that there was something missing from the end. It was a great twist, but I feel like I missed something in the main bulk of the story.

However, that said, I would highly recommend this book

This was also one of my @netgalleynovember reads ♥️

I enjoyed this book but felt the story was dragged out a bit too much which caused me to lose interest.

This book had a lot of promise, but did not live up to it for me. The idea of a mystery at a wellness retreat sounded so good! Unfortunately it was not. The characters were unlikable and were not keeping my attention. The book was very slow moving and when something did start to happen it was so unbelievable (even for the genre) that it left me shaking my head. I was glad when this one ended. This author does have quite a few other books and I will give another one a try at some point.

I really enjoyed Her Last Holiday. An intriguing thriller about a wellness retreat that resulted in disappearances, deaths and a whole lot of questions to be answered. Fantastic stuff.

Telling the story through two different time periods really worked for me, I liked learning snippets of what happened on "her last holiday" while following the "current time" investigation into it, and being able to slowly put clues and people together myself. The relationship between the couple running the retreats was really fascinating, and there was a real depth to many of the supporting cast. It was really intriguing, clever and I enjoyed it a lot.

I love a C. L. Taylor book - she never disappoints.
In this story, we follow Fran, whose sister died of an apparent suicide at a wellness retreat a few years earlier. Fran decides to go to the retreat herself, undercover, as she believes the owner of the retreat actually murdered her sister instead.

The story is told between the present day retreat and when Fran's sister was at the retreat. As with all C. L. Taylor's books the suspense continues building throughout, until you are desperate to find out the ending.

I wouldn't say it is her best book but it is certainly worth a read!

After really enjoying previous books by this author, I was really looking for to this book. It didn't quite hit the mark for me, I just got a bit lost along the way.
While I read most of it, I did listen to part of it on audio and the narration by Clare Corbett is superb, with hindsight perhaps I should have listened to all of.

I received this book from NetGalley as an eARC in exchange for a review.

Her Last Holiday by C.L. Taylor follows the before and after of sisters Fran and Jenna. Jenna goes on a holistic retreat and ends up dead, and Fran is determined to learn the truth.

To me, this was a fine mystery, but nothing that will probably stick with me for long. I didn't see the twist entirely coming but I also wasn't like super jazzed about picking this up after the initial twist. I didn't really feel like rooting for any of the characters. Overall, not a bad book. It was ok.

I love books set in past and present with multiple POVs and this one did not disappoint. Each voice was clearly distinct which doesn't always happen in books of this type.

This book is set during two different wellness retreats, the first - 2 years ago - was struck by tragedy while during the second one in the present Fran is searching for her sister Jenna who disappeared during the first retreat.

The twists, turns and reveals throughout this book were excellent and unexpected. The ending showed so much growth for many of the characters.

I would highly recommend this author and will be reading more by them in future.

Her Last Holiday is a fast paced thriller that kept me guessing until the very end with lots of twists and untrustworthy characters.

Tom and Kate run a company called SoulShrink through which they hold regular wellness retreats for mentally vulnerable people. At the last retreat, everything went wrong. 2 people died under traumatic circumstances and one attendee Jenna went missing, presumed dead of a suspected suicide. Tom goes to jail for his part in the incident.

Fast forward 2 years, Tom has been released, a new retreat is planned and Jenna's family is seeking answers about what really happened to her.

This story is told from the point of view of Jenna, Fran (Jenna's sister) and Kate. I really liked the parallel story lines and how is switched between the past and present. The style of writing created intrigue and as the story progresses, the anticipation builds with the true events of the past gradually being uncovered and new dangers revealed.

I flew through the last few chapters as all of the loose ends are tied up nicely and I loved that the ending took me by surprise. I would definitely recommend this Her Last Holiday to other thriller lovers.

Two years have passed since Frans sister Jenna went missing on a retreat in Gozo. At the same time two people died and now Tom Wade the man behind the retreat is out of prison. Fran is booked on the retreat to face the man who might be able to tell her what happened to Jenna.

C.L.Taylor is an expert in these kind of psychological thriller/mysteries and has never let me down yet. This is a pacy and engrossing thriller with characters that whilst not particularly likeable are definitely relatable. A great novel which you'll find hard to put down.

I think this is one of those ©Marmite books ... you'll either like it or not. For me, I liked it ... I didn't love it, but I was certainly entertained and fair blasted through it.

This starts off at a steady pace while the characters are introduced and gradually increases as the story develops culminating in break-neck speed. There a quite a few characters and past and present timelines so you have to keep your wits about you but this added to the suspense and tension.

The story is told from three points of view - Fran, Kate and Jenna. It took me a while to warm to Fran but the more I read, the more she grew on me. Kate - nope, not a likeable character at all but worked well for the book. Jenna - still not sure how I feel about her.

The plot is interesting - not particularly plausible but if you can't suspend reality in a fiction book, then when can you? There are plenty of suspects to keep you guessing and although I pretty much worked out what was going on pretty early on, it was fun seeing how it all played out.

Overall, a fun read and my thanks must go to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest, unbiased and unedited review.
