I am so grateful to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy of the third instalment in this series, I also had arcs for the first two so it felt momentous receiving an arc for this one too.

I thought this was a trilogy but after that ending I am sure there will be more. I do really like these books and find them to be a really good twist on the standard thriller and they are so much more representative and inclusive but my fear is that it will turn into a bit of a Midsummer Murders type scenario. How many bad things can happen within this small deaf community in Scunthorpe?? Is Paige cursed as everyone especially her deaf friends seem to die constantly!

All in all it was a good read, I had a few suspicions about the ending but didn’t fully have it sussed but guessed a few elements.

This is the third in a series of books featuring BSL interpreter Paige. She is working alongside social worker Sasha when one of Sasha’s clients is arrested for the murder of his wife and setting fire to their house to cover it up.
Paige is a likeable character who again is playing amateur detective and compiling her own evidence on the case. She crosses swords again with the DI and is back and forth with her possible friendship/relationship with Rav Singh.
The plot is believable and the introduction of current topics like drugs and gangs and how innocent people are pulled in was well thought out.
I enjoyed Paige as a character but felt that the ending was a bit flat despite the relationship cliffhanger. I will be reading more though as I would like to see what happens and how the main characters progress.

I couldn’t put this book down! Although I guessed a few of the plot twists it didn’t take away from the story at all. I hope there is a 4th book in this series.

Paige is back working as a sign language interpreter for social worker, Sasha and as a freelancer for the police. One of Sasha's clients, Lucas, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife, Nadia, and burning down his house. Lucas refuses to speak to the police and Paige believes that this is because of how he has been treated in the past. In typical Paige style she sets out to investigate.

Set within the deaf community and depicting the daily challenges faced by a deaf person, this novel makes some important points about the 'system's' perception of how a person should behave when faced with a charge of murder. As Paige digs into the situation she uncovers criminal gangs, county lines drug dealing and cuckooing. She is quite an infuriating character, acting against police advice and putting herself in danger on numerous occasions.

There is a clever plot and an original story-line. I did find the narrative a little heavy handed in parts but overall this was a good read.

The Silent Suspect is the third book in the Paige Northwood series. I found it a very good read, lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end and I love reading the development of Paige's personal life alongside the main story. I would highly recommend this and the previous books in this series

The third book in the brilliant Paige Northwood series was every bit as good as the first two.

I loved that this book was a little more gritty than the first two and less based within a small group of people. This book wove through several different possibilities before it have the reveal. The reveal was something that I had thought early in the book for a totally different reason and so completely dismissed, meaning the ending took me by surprise again.

I can't wait for the next book in the series for a continuation of the storyline around Paige's personal life.

Another book in the Page Northwood series and another incredible fast paced read. This was such a gripping mystery that I couldn't put down and I wasn't surprised at all after reading Silent Night last Christmas

From here all is fast paced and addictive. Life got in the way and kept me from binge reading but definitely would have finished in just one sitting

This is the second book by the same author with the same lead character that I've read. As was the case in the first book, Paige Northwood is a BSL (British Sign Language) translator - the only hearing member of her deaf family. This time instead of translating for the police as an official translator, she finds herself as a witness to a crime and barred from working with the police. But as translator to the social worker dealing with persons involved with the case, she finds herself reluctantly dragged in, until she realises she has to get to the bottom of the story - much to the disgust of the police. Thanks to her digging, the real criminal is uncovered.

It was a fascinating read as was the first. The author leaves the story on a slight cliffhanger and I anticipate another book to hopefully tie up a few more loose ends.
Well worth the read.

A great read keeping you guessing about who is to blame and who is innocent. Some twists throw you as well.

Honestly this was more like a 2.5. This is the third book in the Paige Northwood series, but this is one of those series you could jump in at any time and not be confused. Unfortunately there’s been a decline in my ratings with every book so far. Paige is in no way a cop, but in every book she attempts to include herself in every investigation and she goes off into dangerous situations to conduct her own research, and to be honest I’m kinda over it. She’s a BSL interpreter, nothing more. This story does discuss some important topics about the deaf community and authority. It also raises important points about stereotypes surrounding the deaf. The concept of this series is what initially drew me in, but its uniqueness is starting to wear off. The who was pretty obvious to me, and I did have parts of the why figured out as well, but not all of it. I think I’ll give the next one a chance, and I hope it proves to be better than this one.

This the third book in the Paige Northwood series. I really enjoyed the first two and this one was just as good. I remain fascinated by the deaf community and the characters portrayed in this series. Paige is an interpreter for the deaf. Lukas video calls Paige to ask her to call the authorities when his house is on fire and he doesn't know if his wife is inside. Later Lukas is arrested for the murder of Nadia his wife. But there is of course much more to the story. Paige is not working with the police this time as she is a witness in the case. Nevertheless, she ends up involved and in over her head due to her curious and impulsive nature. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I raced through this, eager to discover the truth! All is not as seems and who can be trusted.

Fast paced, thrilling and packed with suspense. This is another fantastic book and I highly recommend you discover Nells writing.

With each book we get to know more about the characters and what makes them tick. I love that character development within a series.

They say fire cleanses, but fire also leaves a bottomless pit of destruction in its wake. The Silent Suspect is the third book in the Paige Northwood series. I’ve only read this one, but you don’t feel like you’re missing chunks of her backstory. Its rounded up nicely and you are given snippets of her story through-out. She’s a British Sign Language Interpreter working with profoundly death social worker, Sasha Thomas. I really felt that the first half of the book was exceedingly slow, although there was action it was drawn out, and the investigating seemed to last an age.

The social worker, Sasha Thomas, is seriously grating. She just has one of those personalities that pick at your nerves. As a professional I found her very unprofessional. Some of the decisions she took endangered her life and the lives of others. As a social worker it just didn’t add up. I get that she wanted to get to the truth but some of the things she done was just plain dumb.

Paige receives a phone call from one of Sasha’s clients, Lukas Nowalk. He contacts her in a panicked state telling her his house is on fire and that his wife, Nadia is trapped inside. There is so many layers to this story, with intrigue and lies at its core. I do want to say that it was so refreshing to have a series set within the deaf community. It is a much-needed dose of accurate representation. It’s a series that I will be watching closely. The Silent Suspect has moments of heartache and pain with twists to keep you turning that next page.

One thing that didn’t sit right with me was Paige’s outright disregard for her own safety. Now, as I haven’t read the other two books in the series, I don’t know if this is her pattern of behaviour, but I did find it just out rightly reckless. I found it very frustrating, and it did take me away from the story a bit. The book was quite slow, and I just wanted more to happen, it just didn’t have me as enthralled as I would have liked. I can’t fault the writing though and the dialogue of sign language was superbly done.

The Silent Suspect heralds’ characterization. Strong women and characters that hide their genius. the writing was brilliant, I just had a few issues with how the story was progressing.

This is the third book of the Paige Nortwood series but this is the first time, I have been reading from this author. Paige is a British Sign Language interpreter. So when one of her clients, Lukas calls her for help, Paige along with another social worker, Sasha reaches to Lukas's house--only to find that the house is already on fire and Lukas's wife, Nadia is dead. But Nadia didn't die from the fire--she was murdered before the fire. And Lukas was the main suspect. And despite overwhelming evidence and Paige thinks Lukas is innocent, Lukas remains silent.

I thought the plot was interesting--I like how Paige got together with Sasha and DS Singh to find who is actually behind Nadia's murder. Not much of twists or turns and not a very fast paced thriller you would expect but nonetheless, the writing was OK. It was somewhat interesting to see who is actually the real killer is, with all the suspects from Lukas' s ex wife Caroline and their teenage son to the gym where Lukas frequented. The ending was somewhat unexpected but it was OK.

Overall, I thought this book was an OK thriller. Worth three stars! Thank you Netgalley and Avon for giving me the ARC--the review is based on my opinion only.

I love the silent series by Nell Pattison. A unique twist on police procedural novels with a ESL interpreter as the main character who gets caught up in crime solving. Great characters, fast paced plot and unexpected twists. This is the third book in the series but can easily be read as a standalone. Highly recommended

I picked up The Silent Suspect on the strength of the blurb, without indication it was third in a series. However, it works perfectly well as a standalone, and while I imagine I might have gleaned a little more about the lead and some of the other characters in her life, I wasn’t lost in terms of the general plot and was easily able to ingratiate myself in the story.

I did feel that my connection to Paige as a lead did suffer somewhat due to this being my first entry into the series, and I’m curious to go back to the prior books and weave through those over-arching elements.

One of the elements that drew me in was Paige’s work as a sign language interpreter and how it comes into play as a key suspect in the murder is Deaf. Deaf culture is conveyed compassionately, and how it presents the challenges they face in a hearing and speaking world, especially in the context of an intense crime.

The crime is twisty and engaging, and while I did predict the murderer relatively early on, it is a well paced mystery that ultimately felt rewarding.

This is a compelling mystery that weaves in Deaf culture in a beautiful way while also providing a thrilling mystery that kept me pretty much constantly entertained. If you’re looking for a fun mystery, I think you’ll enjoy this one.

That was a really intense book that I fully enjoyed. A true page-turner, "The silent suspect" is certainly one of the top thrillers of the year! Exceptional writing, a captivating plot, and well-written heroes!

The Silent Suspect is the third book in the Paige Northwood series and sees her returning as a BSL interpreter for the police and for Sasha, a social worker (who we met in book two). Interpreting for Lukas, a suspect who is accused of murdering his wife Nadia, she is unable to do so as he refuses to talk and remains silent throughout his time in custody. Paige then finds herself caught up in another web of dangerous situations whilst attempting to solve the mystery of who killed Nadia and burnt her house down in order to conceal evidence.

I just really enjoy this series! I find the BSL interpretations so interesting and how Paige fits into the cases has been wonderfully linked throughout all three books.

I think Paige is one of the most self-less, determined, vulnerable and strong characters I’ve read about and I find myself rooting for her to come out on top, every time. Yes she puts herself purposefully slap bang in the middle of danger, yes she takes on a role that isn’t necessarily hers... but she does it with courage and with good intentions.

The story flowed throughout, kept me engaged and teased just enough clues to have me second guessing my theory. BUT I WAS CORRECT! First time for everything, right?

Can we just talk about the ending though... I need to know there’s going to be a fourth book because you can’t just leave Paige and Rav like that!?

Lukas' house is on fire. He is unharmed, but his wife Nadia is stuck inside. Because Lukas is deaf, he can't call the authorities, so he asks Page, a BSL interpreter, for help in calling the fire brigade.
When it transpires that Nadia is dead but that she didn't die in the fire, Lukas gets arrested for murdering his wife. His social worker, Sophia, is keen to prove his innocence. Enlisting Page Northwood's help, together they start their own investigation.

I loved the two previous books, and I'm happy to say that this one was no exception.
As always, the author seamlessly sucks you into the story.
It was a gripping and intriguing read, that had me guessing all the way through. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.
As before, I found it refreshing to read a story about hearing-impaired people.
I did find Page a bit annoying in her desire not to get involved, and then completely disregarding her own advice over and over again, but I was glad to see her relationship with Detective Singh finally going in the right direction, although the way they left things was frustrating, and now I have to wait for the next book to see how it pans out.
I highly recommend the whole series.
