This book tried really hard, but it's missing some important story bits. The main issue is, well, there's not much of a plot. Also, it's not very original—there's a human girl held captive by fae guys, and they're all supposed to be super attractive. It's a bit cliche. Another thing that bugged me (and maybe I should've seen it coming) is that the romance part feels a bit off since the girl is kind of stuck with these fae males..

On the plus side, the writing is okay, even if it follows a familiar pattern. Surprisingly, the main character didn't annoy me as much as I thought she would, which was a nice surprise in a genre where that often happens. So, I gave it three stars.

This book had so much potential but if you go into this thinking you're going to get romance, don't be fooled. There were tiny hints of the coming romance if you are to read more into the series but nothing really happened in this first book. This was my first dabbling into a reverse harem romance, and it wasn't bad, I just wasn't blown away; i liked the set up, just wish it was a faster past specially because I really like the love interests.. The world building was solid enough, I like the plot line enough to finish the book but don't think I will continue with the series.

I really enjoyed this book. It had me on the edge of my seat more than once. The world building in this first installment was amazing. The characters were outstanding. And, the drama was superb.
Looking forward to reading more from this author

Guilty Pleasures:

Reverse Harem, Fantasy, Fae, Shapshifters. Having all of them in one book?!? Dream book!

Captive of Wolves hit all those marks. I enjoyed the book, however I didn't love it.

I'm giving this a 3.5 star rating, and will hold opinions for the next one in the series.

The beginning of the book started strong. It had some confusing parts, however it was still good! The middle however, started tapering off on speed. I wasn't sure if Chase was trying to draw out the book with some filler in order to create the series or if it was needed and more will happen in the next few books.

I look forward to the next installment though and can't wait to see where it takes me.

I tried, I swear I did. DNF at 30%. I did connect with the characters at all. When I stopped, Talia had been “rescued” by Sylas and his cadre. The story is just developing too slowly and the guys are flat characters to me.

I always enjoy Ms. Chase's work and this was a great start to a series, I enjoyed the fantasy elements and the characters. I look forward to more in the series.

When Talia’s family are killed, the men responsible kidnap her and lock her in a cage, taking her blood and keeping her chained. But another group arrive, similar to the monsters she knows, and Talia doesn’t know if she can trust them. They take her away from the cage, but she remains a prisoner. At least this time she has a room, a bed, and proper food.

Paranormal Romance is one of those genres I often find myself dipping into, and it’s a genre I absolutely love even if I don’t read a whole lot of it. Captive of Wolves is, I think, the first ‘reverse harem’ novel I’ve read, and I admit I only know the term because of seeing it on other reviews. I really like the idea of this trope, and to me, this book handled it well. Because it uses multiple POVs, we don’t just see things through Talia’s eyes, but through the eyes of the men who have saved her, too. It adds more layers, though Chase does a good job of holding back key information without it feeling forced or dishonest.

I also really liked the use of the werewolf trope. These aren’t cursed men, they are cursed fae, who have other powers and abilities outside their monthly changes. The way these are woven together is done really well, and the conflict these men face feels real. They want Talia to be comfortable and happy, and are outraged at her previous treatment, but they need her blood, and releasing her back home might cause more problems for them and her.

The worldbuilding here is great, despite the setting being focused originally in a cage, then in the larger house, we still get ideas of the outside world revealed through dialogue and interactions among the fae. It doesn’t feel forced, either, as sometimes happens, and resists info-dumping, instead allowing us to discover layers of the world as Talia does. I also liked the differences in the ways they all interacted with her, and how she adapted to each one, learning carefully what she can say in the presence of one, but perhaps not around the others.

All the characters are fleshed out and it’s easy to connect with each on deeper levels. Talia’s character arc moved well, and though I can see how it might be a bit fast for some, to me it felt like she was mainly adapting to the situation she was in.

Overall I really enjoyed this book, and I look forward to checking out book two in Bound to the Fae, and perhaps in the meantime I’ll keep an eye out for more reverse harem Paranormal Romances.

Now, let's talk about this book. Where to start?

This book follows a woman who was stolen from her home and kept in a cage for eight years. Then she's saved by some fae werewolves. The next 80% of the book's spent with her girl having a moment with each of the guys. Not all good moments there's one guy who hates her. No plot, just a guy who scares and bullies her and two guys who want to sleep with her. Then a guy who's just kind of in the middle about her.

Then the plot finally kicks in and ends with a little fight and some blood-drinking. Only to have the guys take about sharing her. Like she's a toy. Yeah.

I had no idea this was a reverse harem novel and, had I known - I'd never have picked it up. That genre isn't my thing.

The writing is fine and dandy and, I loved that the main character is disabled: some good representation at least. Besides the hack of a plot for most of the book, it's not bad. Just not my thing. If you're into this kind of genre, then I say give it a go. For me, I'll be passing on this series.

I really liked the start of this one. The writing was different than I expected, skewing more towards a high fantasy style that I really enjoyed. I also really liked learning about the Fae realm (which reminded me of the Spring Court in ACOTAR) and being introduced to the four members of Sylas' Cadre that would become the love interests. It was also refreshing to have a disabled MC in a fantasy romance series.
However, at around the 45% mark, my interest started to wane a bit, and by the time I got to the end, I realised that is because I feel this book was lacking in plot.
We have Talia, a young woman who has been held in captivity for 8 years so that her blood can be used in a powerful tonic that prevents the Fae from having to shift into their wolf form during the full moon. When Talia is rescued by Sylas' cadre, she struggles to come to terms with the fact that she doesn't actually mind their presence and is enjoying the luxury she now lives in, while still technically being held captive as she is not allowed to leave. That is pretty much the whole plot, so while I found it enjoyable for the majority of the book, as I got increasingly closer to the end, I felt like I was waiting for something to happen, that never really did.
Overall though, I thought this was promising and enjoyed it enough to continue the series.

Talia was captured by Fae wolves who have tortured her for years. She is rescued by Salas and his wolves. But what happens now? She holds a secret that could change their lives!

This is definitely my kind of book. All of the major super groups have been represented in this very delightful book. Talia is brave and wonderful. I was so invested in this story that I finished it before I knew it. I really do recommend this book. It was absolutely awesome.

I've read a couple of other books by Eva Chase and was super impressed so I had some high expectations. This book did not disappoint. I felt like Talia and her men's relationship developed more gradually and organically then most RH books. If your looking for a slow burn romance than this is definitely a book that you should pick up.

Captive of Wolves is not your typical faery tale. The heroine has been held captive to brutal fae warriors for years. She's been "rescued" by a different clan who have granted her a castle-sized cage, but she is still a prisoner. These new warriors want her blood to save their people, but are they worth saving.

This was an engaging read and I look forward to the next one in the series

je n'ai pas vraiment adhéré à l'histoire de Talia, le début était pourtant prometteur et le monde créé par l'autrice vraiment intéressant mais cette héroïne est bien trop changeante pour moi et elle m'a agacée tout le long de ce premier tome. Les personnages secondaires, à commencer par ses sauveurs, sont pourtant assez intéressants mais ça n'a pas suffit à ce que j'apprécie pleinement mon aventure en sa compagnie. Le final est intriguant mais pas suffisamment pour que je continue avec le tome 2. Je m'arrête donc là avec cette aventure !
