This book was so fascinating to read. I did not know much about the Jazz scene in the UK, but the book walked me through the knowledge I needed to know while exploring the gender disparity. It was incredible.

Completely absorbing, stuffed with ideas, facts, suggestions and jazz knowledge. I really liked how the facts are presented in such an authoritative and engaging narrative but you are never told what to think. Some of the information was really surprising and it was cool to have lots of different researchers, teachers, music people giving their thoughts and I liked the LGBT parts -no one thinks of those usually. Such a lot of good things about the book. Usually, books which sound like they are a study put me off but this - a discussion is just right for the title as it is the facts, people's ideas, and it is just for you to decide. I am going to read some of the studies used as well.
